Herein lies the problem, you use the terms Serbs and Croatians as synonyms for Bosnian Serbs and Bosnian Croatians. Bi H was and is a country in its own right; its statehood is confounded by the tug of war between the nationalist politics within its borders. But its still early days for a viable system of government to be formed that breaks down the religio-cultural definitions dominating politics. It took most countries centuries to forge a responsive system of politics and they are still refining it. Bosnian Serbs will always be considered Bosnian Serbs even if they manage to be convinced by their masters to be absorbed by Serbia even if their neighbours are transmigrated Serbs from parts of Serbia. They will always have a different accent, a different collective memory, a different association with the rivers and the land, a different response to a song, a different friendship history, a different communal knowledge of difference. The bloodshed has forced divisions but the blood of the country will eventually heal the wounds.
As for the misinformation re Bosnia breaking away from SFRJ, history actually reveals it was Serbia who made the first break by refusing to pay their revenue share into the SFRJ coffers, also by the time the people’s army turned their guns on the people SFRJ was well and truly rumped and rotting into singularity making a federal principle a bit of a joke. As for the perennial ‘what about Kosovo?’ you conveniently overlook the reality that Kosovo was an autonomous region before it was annexed. Its administration had many opportunities in the past to develop an equitable and inclusive form of local self-government and came up instead with repression and division. As for the cliched racism of 'Muslims breed like rabbits' check the census reports and you see a different picture from 1965-1986, whether Orthodox or Catholic or Muslim or Other breeding patterns were determined by perceived security on the land and in the cities. By the way the census results in the 60's had no box to tick for Muslims and to cap it the migration within SFRJ was very fluid during the 60's and 70's with a greater movement from east into Bosnia than the reverse.

M, that is a very rude provocation that you are making. The fact remains that Serbs have legitimate claims to much of Bosnia. I am not saying we should have all of it, but you are implying that we are monsters who want to take over the entire balkans. Well no, we simply want what we deserve, what belongs to us, what is ours.

Now, the issue of krajina is interesting... I personally want only about half of the former krajina, not places like Knin or Western Slavonia, because Croatia can't function without those places.

Bosnia was a population swap and the people should be content to be out of each other's hair.

The Serbs aren't pushing to go back to the Muslim-Croat Federation where 100s of thousands of them lived and owned property, they only want to be left alone from the Muslims and Croats who just won't leave them along.

The Muslim-Croat Federation has been given all the billion dollar donations from the international community and they still aren't satisfied. Plus they are the more corrupt entity and investors are starting to look more to the RS than the "Federation".

Hey, Lenard, I think you paint a false story. First of all, it was totally illegal for Bosnia to break off, and their radical muslim president at that time came to power by non-democratic means of annulling his lost election in 1990. Go back just to like 1961 and you will see that the Serbs were the biggest ethnic group in all of Bosnia, with over 40% of the population. It is muslim outbreeding of christians, which happens everywhere, from Kosmet to Lebanon, which has led to these demographic changes. Please of Republika Srpska tradititionally had a serbian majority, and should be allowed to break off. If BiH can illegally break off of Yugo, than R.S. should be able to do the same.

Its funny the International Community used to say the same thing about Kosovo to Serbia, until they realized Serbia would rather have Kosovo than the EU. Now they seem to be trying to say that the Bosnian Serbs have to choose between the EU and RS. What if they choose RS over the EU? The EU doesn’t seem to be such a good “carrot” anymore.

Regardless, the creation of RS was through agreement between all the parties involved. Now they are trying to go back on the deal. How are Serbs supposed to believe the International Community when it comes to deals over Kosovo?

Its time for a truly democratic solution in Bosnia. The majority, Serbs and Croatians would like split the country, only the Bosniaks would like to keep it whole. It deeply saddens me that a peaceful partition of the country didn’t occur and instead Milosevic and Tudjman used the opportunity to create war and bloodshed.

All the death and killing could have been avoided.

It dos not make sense Ray ,it is Srpska politicians balking with Serbia,s support that are delaying police reform in Bosnia. At the expense all of Bosnia moving forward and having a good future in the EU ,prospering in peace. Serbia thinks it can get Srpska entity as a reward and as some kind of compensation which is not likely. Srpska and Serbia are playing a dangerous game at the expense all of Bosnia. To the detriment of 690,000 Bosniaks ,Croatians and others ,ethnically cleansed from Srpska ,on the deaths of 10s of thousands of people.

Where is the democracy in this?, how can you have a united police force in a totally divided "country", Police are not allowed to cross borders anywhere else in europe anyway. It time for the EU to say partition Bosnia just like Cyprus is and always will be.
