We need fair trade, not free trade. Fair trade is the only thing that we should accept, and some of that can be free trade. The problem with free trade is that there is no protection, and countless developing countries have suffered thanks to it. For example, Jamaica's milk industry has almost been destroyed thanks to free trade, and many latin american agricultural sectors have greatly suffered thanks to free trade. The point is that developing countries can not compete with the huge giants from the West who overproduce for a far cheaper price. Therefore we need fair trade, where our industries do not collapse on the free market. The problem is that the West persecutes and goes after those who oppose their domination, in part via free trade. Free trade only benefits nations that are on the same developed level. We are not on the same level as the West, for their technology and abilities are far beyond what we have, thanks in part to their 1999 bombing and sanctions during the 1990s.
