again no, adrian, serbian market has 157500000 costumers because of the free trade agreement.

for me, that´s not small.

western companies come to serbia because of this agreement, cause they simply don´t have another chance to enter the russian market.

why should western companies leave aside the only two booming economies in europe?

serbia had a fdi compareable with india (around 5 bil usd), not because we will likely enter the farmers union of brussels.

but we are miles away of the foreign money invested in russia (23 bil usd).

take slovenian gorenje, they have a luxury product line sold in serbia and russia, and a cheap trade mark sold in the west. and the luxury line is even more profitable, cause they produce in serbia, so they are a domestic russian product.

take the eur 8000 dacia! no one bought it in romania, no one bought it in russia, but in france it was the booming car.

so, let the russians just point with the finger on something, and they should get it. my opinion is, they should even get it for free, before a westerner gets it.

"Ain't it just typical of the Russians: taking Serbia's side out of the goodness of their heart! Such good souls those Russians!
(teni, 8. October 2007 15:42)"

And that differs how much from the US taking the sides of the Albanians?

Hehe, all this childish banter reminds me of two quarreling kids (Serbs and Albanians in this case), backed by their fathers (Russians and Americans in this case) shouting at each other things like:

"My dad's stronger than your dad!", "Uh uh, my dad will beat your dad up!", "Uh uh, no way! My dad's way stronger than your dad!" etc. etc.

I know that , raso. But Serbia proper is a small market , so they will not invest much until you join EU.After that for example Novi Sad could get a real competitor for the region i live ( romanian banat) . But only after that.

It will be decided in the future if these contracts were on the right terms for Serbian interests, but as we all know, Russians and Serbian parts are not in the same position to discuss any balanced economic agreement. For those naive ones: There is no friendship in business!
The same goes for any nation in the world that hopes on the help from some other nation.

It looks like Serbia is getting used. Once those contracts are final Russia isn't going to care what happens next to Serbia.

Call it conflict of interest.

Serbia should only sell its oil company to an actual oil producing country like Russia or Norway. The Russians have the most money to pay and are more interested in long term profits as opposed to most Western companies which are more concerned with quarterly profits on their balance sheets and for this reason Russia is the best partner for Serbia. Are you all aware that former German chancellor Gerhard Schroeder is on the board of directors of Russian Gazprom?Alexei Miller is one of the smartest executives in Europe and has the respect of all Western oil companies.Russia is the EU's most important source of raw materials needed to power EU industries so there is no pseudo choice for Serbia to make between Russia and the EU.BOTH are equally important and in the end the EU will choose Russia over Kosovo without a doubt.

no adrian, that´s serbias biggest asset!

the only country outside the gus with a free trade agreement with russia.

if indians and others want to trade milk or pigs, then eu is their partner, and then they definatly don´t need serbia for that.

What a disclaimer! Soon will find out that Russians will pick Serbia over Siberia. Not for economic reasons, just for the climate ones.

You live in “cold war” past-times (similar to Mr. Bush – hope I give you a “compliment”). We speak about PARTNERSHIP between Russians and Serbians.
It is Serbian people killed by NATO bombings and their families still grieving. It is EU wrong decision to allow to US/ NATO to kill Serbian citizens. On other side it is EU bad luck that Serbia hold most important strategic position in Europe. Most important is that all ways (roads and waterways) from West to East are passing through Serbia.
Without Serbia EU is a dead-end.
There is way out for Europe and it could be expressed through the sentence “Do not touch Serbian Kosovo!”

Money is most important of course but not more than some moral norms. Serbia does not want the partners same western companies that financed illegal bombardment and killing of innocent Serbian citizens. So it is normal that Russian owned companies has so called “competitive advantage” in bid for Serbian partnership.

Yeah, Yeah.
Its like puting a fox in charge of the hen-house.
Who are we trying kid here. Everything is interconected with economy and money.
Russians are so money hungry, since they need it, that is like a black hole in space.
Serbia, better be careful with Russia, since you never know whats gonna happen tomorow.
Just a friendly advice.
As far as Kosova/o, not to worry. They'll take the other's side approach, economicaly and politicaly.
