Arlinda,

1. Both World Wars were started by Serbia? Whilst I won't deny that there was an incident in 1914 in Sarajevo involving Serbs, how can you tell me that Germany invading Poland (Ruhr, Sudetanland, etc.) has anything to do with Serbia...?

2. Yes, I see how peaceful albanians are - blood fueds, etc.

3. "It's obvious that albanians are not terrorists"??? What planet are you on - do you even know the meaning of the word "obvious"? Obviously you don't. All I know about is grenades being thrown into Serb cafes, assassinating Serb police, harrasing Serb population. If there was a minority in albania proper and did what you did would they get away with it?

3. You talk as if the Serb posters here are terrible warmongers, but I've yet to see the peaceful zen of the albanians!

4. As far as I can tell we have NEVER ever wanted anything from albanians - not even "their" lands.

5. Insulting? Your "Friendship Pact" with Serbia is the most laughable document in the Balkans. And the most insulting.

6. All YU wanted was respect from its citizens - tax, language, good relations. But when YU split you thought we'll have a bit of that - except you weren't a republic and this drove you all insane with anger. YOU HAVE A COUNTRY - IT'S CALLED ALBANIA.

We can talk about autonomy etc. but HOW DARE YOU suggest that just because you have so many children in a family over a 50 year period which results in a demographic shift, in a province, in a seperate country, you have the right to stick your flag in the ground???

I think it's because you've ruined your own country (albania) and now you are looking to ruin those lands of your reluctant neighbours.

7. If you are so cuddly and loveable why is the criminal element put above Turkish heroin smugglers/ dealers in the west and you are basically treated with suspicion in the region. Ask Greeks etc. what they think.

I have no hatred for anyone in this world - (with the exception of Jade Goody) - and don't consider myself a warmonger.

But I'll be damned if I'll sit here reading all the childish pathetic cries of independence from a people that already have their own country.

So grow up, stop hassling us Serbs and try to get along with your neighbours - trust me - you won't get anywhere otherwise.

oh yeah, and get a history book - even an American one will tell you what you need to know.

I don't hear Pristina (or the albanians on this site for that matter) condeming a UN recognised terrorist group, there only making excuses for them. If they act, then Pristina should be held responsible.
(Delije, 5. October 2007 23:20)

You wish...you are in position to talk since Serbia protects war criminals, and refuses to hand over 2,000 dead KOSOVARS.
How could we ever live with you when you refuse to bring the bodies of our loved ones?

There could be still Kosovars in some jail in Serbia. THis is one of the reasons why SERBIA should not be allowed to join EU. This is a big reason why Kosova needs to be free from Serbia

Jr,
"You cannot unite all the Albanians into one state without the war.
Do you really want more war?"

No absolutely not, we don't want war. If we wanted war we wouldn't be the ones organizeing ARMS FAIRs in Belgrade. I read that article here on B92.

To me it doesn't matter if we are as one state together. I want us to be well. I don't want other Albanians to be insulted, fear for their lives. I don't want Serbs acting like they own Kosovo Albanians.
Spiritual union among Albanians has always been there, even after we were forcibly split in 1913. It became even stronger after the borders were opened in the early 90s. I don't know how to describe it. It's like meeting your old friends after a long time.
Kosovo Albanians are a good people. They wanted to be included in your society, they repsected your culture, your music, they learned your language. How did you pay them back? With guns.
1999:
"You have 5 minutes to leave your house, otherwise you'll be dead."

You are LUCKY to have Albanians as your neighbours. We are peaceful, family oriented, warm, patient, social, communicative, understanding, well-meaning and accepting people.
In the statistics on who was the most nationalistic in the Balkans Serbs were no.1, Albanians were the last ones.
On the study published worldwide where the Danes came out on top as the happiest in the world, Albanians were the happiest(even though poorest) in the Balkans, and the Serbs were the last.
I don't rejoice on other people's misfortunes, I just understand now why many things happen.
The UCK was born from the people to defend themselves. That is why Ceku called this a non-official defense org. After 1999, it was dismantled because there was no fear of attack. They say some units, but not nearly as before have grouped now. Why? Because of the daily threats! Looking at history less than 10 years ago people become scared of these threats. Logically, if you remove the threat, then people will not have to arm up to the neck. It is a sign of self defense. It is not that they fear or don't trust Ceku, they don't trust the Serbs. What do they have up their sleeves this time? I swear every new attack, in every form comes unexpected out of nowhere. Don't you have anything else to do but play with Albanians all the time?
Croatians, Bosnians, Slovenians, Montenegrins had enough of you. Now, is it because Albanians are so accepting and because we have a different culture/language?

Arlinda

pre 16 godina

What I have noticed recently is that Serbs try to create antagonisms. "Albania vs Serbia" military videos on youtube, trying to put America against Russia, when in fact it was an entire group of nations from the world that came there in 1999. I know i saw it with my eyes.
What do you want? Do you want war?
Don't be warmongers. Both the world wars started in Serbia.
It is obvious that Albanians are not terrorists as you absurdly want to portray us. No matter how much you try to lie I believe in the truth that always comes out. Trying to lie will only boomerang back to you. You destroyed your country, you killed your own slavic people, now leave the Albanians alone. We have nothing to do with you. Don't try to manipulate everything about us, our culture and our history.
Tonight Ivica Dacic was invited to an Albanian tv show in Tirana and it was very disturbing. The way he was speaking was full of indirect threats, words and phrases reminiscent of the past. What upset me the most is when he said that the biggest mistake Serbia had made was for Milosevic not to finish his job to the end with Albanians. That's just sick. Shameless. He cannot do that! But, also, it is expectable considering all the bad things we read online, on papers, though propaganda. Actually, thanks to the power of the internet now everything came out. We saw in these past 6 years online how Serbs really feel about Albanians, how meanly, aggressive, and violently they speak. It's all there enthusiastically written. All those beautiful words, all written after 1999.
A few days ago Croatia signed an agreement with the EU, that Croatia would take Kosovo refugees in. It was a shock. Why are they doing this? Do they have info about Serbs trying to ethnically cleanse again? Isn't that terrorist and criminal?
From all the propaganda lies(criminal, killer, raper, stealing land etc etc) I have read online these past years all of them were things that I thought about Serbs.
If you could, if there were no international organizations that held values to be repsected, if you could, you would take all Albanian lands, and would call yourself Illyrians like the slavs of Macedonia killed then personalized other paleobalkanic people's history. Then you would turn unto another small nation like Greece. In schools we learned that GReeks descended for Pelasgians, ancianet inhabitants of the Balkans, but in the last 5 years suddenly this new theory came out that Greeks are descendants of Slavs. I know how Greeks feel now. We have been there before them. They are a small nation, just like us. The Wallons have France, Latin people have each other, English speaking people have each other, so do Germanic, so do Slavs. Who do Albanians have, Who do Greeks? No one to look up to. In the beginning you get seduced by this love affair with such a big pan slavic nation, then when they start trying to change you into their culture, denying your basic rights, insulting you, trying to wipe your whole family from the face of the earth then you don't like them as much.
If Western Europeans colonized and expanded on far away lands, Slavs have the tendency to colonize centrifugally enlarging their borders.
All day and night you dream about Albanian lands.
Can't you break the cycle of hatred? Is this all you do? Picking fights? Can't you distance yourself from an aggressive past, blame it on "the regime" and cleanse yourself?
I don't believe in evil wars, I believe in peace.

I beg Albanians to not fall prey of these games that want conlflict and be reasonable with the values our familes instilled us.

For this to be prevalent, this just backs up the article to all the dollars, euros, whatever currency being literally dumped into KosovO for the "peace keeping" mission being in vain! Who cares what the US analyst says as he/she is blowing hot air!

Do you really believe that you are more of a man because you can produce more kids? Having children and raising them are two very different things, Agim.

In the developed world women usually aspire to more than having as many babies as possible. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with that, if it is the woman's free choice and the couple are able to support them.

Your attitudes just scare me, to be honest. And I hope that any daughters you may have are exposed to a slightly more forward thinking approach.

Taras - if the K Albanians are so awful why do you want to keep them in your country so badly? PM Kostunica as much as admitted in Strasbourg this week that Serbia does NOT want them, does not want 2.5 million albanians - he said they already have a country, it is Albania. What you want is the land they live on - sorry it dont work that way.

Ratko - you say that because today there are some 300 000 Serbs from Kosovo (in Kosovo and IDPs) which is about 12% of the population of Kosovo instead of 50% that it is ethnic cleansing? I would say its more likely a result of:
1. demographic differences (serbs few kids, albanians lots) and
2. ever since there were a lot of albanians living in Kosovo, Serbs were less interested in living there - segregation

"Mr Princip- did Canada ever try to ethnicly clean Quebec?"
(ben, 5. October 2007 14:08)

Quebec, no.
Franch people, yes.
In mid- 18th century, there was something called "Acadian expulsion".
Most of Atlantic Canada was French-speaking at the time. English overloaded the ships with French and sent them to France. More then half of them died before reaching European shores.
Today, there is still something called "Acadia" in Canada , but I'm not sure what it is, or where it's located. I checked the map of Atlantic Canada and there is no such province there.

"Knowing whats going on, doesn't mean they approve it.
(nikshala, 5. October 2007 11:53) "
I don't know if Ceku does. It may even be a rival group. But most Albanians certainly do approve. Just look at the yesterday's comments.

http://www.b92.net/eng/news/society-article.php?yyyy=2007&mm=10&dd=04&nav_category=113&nav_id=44290

Most of the Albanians approve of this group.
Agim Elshani was " pleasantly suprised at their military uniform and all the high tech gadgets"
Almost every comment compared them to Tzar Lazar Guards.
They are simmilar in one way, they are both illegal.

"UNMIK designated ANA as a terrorist group in 2003, following an attack on the Kosovska Mitrovica-Lešak railway. "
Tzar Lazar Guards are not blowing up railroads.
Police in Serbia would only be all to happy if they should set-up an armed checkpoint on the road in Serbia, so they can arrest them all.
Those people want more war, they threatned Macedonia.
They are called "Front for National Unification of the Albanians (FNOA)".
You cannot unite all the Albanians into one state without the war.
Do you really want more war?
Albanians should be concerned about this themselves. I was surpised to see that they were very supportive of this in yesterday's comments.
And also, there are armed people on your roads checking vehicles, for Christ sake.
I don't think that you should be endorsing uniforms and gadgets. Rather, you should be concerned about it.
I'm not very fond of Serbia, but one thing I have to give it to them - it's ruled by law.
Kosovo, in comparison, appears to be lawless place.
It was in Bosnia where war peaked, and sides inflicted terrible suffering on each other. Kosovo war looks like a picnic compared to Bosnian conflict. Yet, we don't see armed people on roads in any of two entities there.
Albanians should certainly be worried about this, and put their acts together.

Kate I have a few KLA insignias at home too and I could have bought a few uniforms if I wanted, but that does not mean I am or have ever been KLA or NLA or UCPMB.
There are enough disgruntled former fighter in Kosova just as there are a lot of groups under Serb payroll, but that does not mean that the government or UNMIK can just stop them like that. Your British government did not manage to stop the IRA, Serbia under Milosevic although it used all sort of oppressive measures did not manage to stop the KLA so wh should the Kosova government be any different?
And to anyone who has never set foot in Kosova here, and I guess that is the absolute majority in the Serb camp, you should know what the terrain is like in that area and how easy it would be for any group to appear in the road for a time and melt back into the mountains. KFOR and the Kosova police cannot be everywhere at any given time. It just isn't possible.
The worrying thing is that the longer this drags on the more powerful such groups will become and the more legitimacy they will gain. And if that happens there are gonna be problems for all of us in the region.

This goes to show you that there are forces other than the officials in Pristina aiming for Kosovo's independence by any means possible. No wonder Ceku, Sejdiu, et al are so eager for a settlement: it puts them in a position of leadership over others like ANA, Kurti, and others. We've been hearing for years that large areas of Kosovo, particularly the western areas closer to the Albanian border, have been in the hands of local gangs and gunrunners and out of the jurisdiction of Pristina. If idepdendence is given, I feel this so-called Albanian unity that everyone thinks exists will evaporate into intercommunal fighting for control of the province. It's better for Serbia to grab what it can, and hold onto what it can, and leave the rest for the Albanians to fight over.

Arlinda

pre 16 godina

Arlinda

Jr,
"You cannot unite all the Albanians into one state without the war.

Arlinda,

However distasteful you may find it, the Kosovo war was brought to a close when Serbia agreed to sign an agreement with Nato and the UN. This document forms the legally binding status of Kosovo and was agreed to, and signed, by all parties.

Apart from war crimes cases brought before various courts, the events of the war are not relevant when discussing Kosovo's status today. The time has passed when this could provide leverage for independence.

This was signed and sealed in Resolution 1244.

2. ever since there were a lot of albanians living in Kosovo, Serbs were less interested in living there - segregation

Obviously Mr. Laurenti of the Century Foundation, has never heard of a little something called "Albanian exceptionalism".

Just because some the Han Chinese of Taiwain wait decades for a solution, it doesnt mean that Albanians will.

One has only to look at bestselling books in Albania to find out about this exceptionalism.

One such book is "Language of the Gods" writen by a Greek-Albanian. The title says it all.

B92 quit chopping up my posts which are in no way offencive but are meer facts. I as always will post links for confirmation if anyone asks.

I have six children, others have 8 and 9. You can barely raise one.

Thank you for proving my point. As well as answering why there is a 70%+ unemployment rate. You cant feed ur own children.

As for demographics. Serbia had upwards of 80% to minority 20% before WW1. There is no question who the invaders are. But just to help u out with a hit their nationality begins with an A, and not an S or K.

Viktore,
Yes thats how wars start. But only by albanians and their terrorist groups that have plagued Serbian civilians for decades.

seems like the albanian "leaders" in the southern-serbian province have no control ...or they are deliberately playing with fire...

in both cases, the Albanians have bad cards...

by the way Ks,
Kosovo is 10 % of ...?

you´re right, ...Serbia! ;)

Agim says…”now tell me why you guys can not make babies, because we albanians have a very high birth rate. I have six children, others have 8 and 9. You can barely raise one.”

That this mentality still exists in Europe amazes me. Reading such a comment is like reading a history book written hundreds of years ago.

A man’s worth is not measured by his ability to reproduce, even a wild animal can do that.

Hiding your identiy so when you are caught you won't embarass your family. Freedom Fighter yeah right KLA fighters never hid there faces did they? They were respected because they were trying to do the right thing. These clowns are just stirring up trouble. See Bailey they are going to be dummies trying to make things worst for Kosova. Remember what i told you earlier today sir. Tung

I don't hear Pristina (or the albanians on this site for that matter) condeming a UN recognised terrorist group, there only making excuses for them. If they act, then Pristina should be held responsible.

Has any one poster addressed the fact that the US is behind the independence of KosovO?? One more item people failed to realize.

For this to be prevalent, this just backs up the article to all the dollars, euros, whatever currency being literally dumped into KosovO for the "peace keeping" mission being in vain! Who cares what the US analyst says as he/she is blowing hot air!

Jr,
"You cannot unite all the Albanians into one state without the war.

You wish...you are in position to talk since Serbia protects war criminals, and refuses to hand over 2,000 dead KOSOVARS.
How could we ever live with you when you refuse to bring the bodies of our loved ones?

There could be still Kosovars in some jail in Serbia. THis is one of the reasons why SERBIA should not be allowed to join EU. This is a big reason why Kosova needs to be free from Serbia

Arlinda,
