While we are barking here for something that we can do nothing about, politicians and bussinesmen from East and West are trading like always resources and properties. Human element (meaning us,), or churches and mosques are the last ones that they care about. The only part of it that worries them is that how many "slaves" will be needed for their bussineses to run efficiently, and I'm sure they'd be happier if they cleared the area of Balkan people, in order to bring here cheap Chinese workers. (Attention: this might happen in the future!!!)

Nobody really cares about any Serbs left in Kosovo or about their fate, nor do they care about Albanians, their numbers and their progress. What everyone cares right now is who owns this percentage, who will pay this to who, what will they get back, for how long, to who it goes later, etc, etc.

And believe you me, nobody goes against the interest of the big businesses. If they do, they are destined to lose, be those a group, an organization, or even a state. I bet you, they (The Man) would desintegrate Greece in a matter of days, if they did't get "Da moneey" they planned. And Chinese economie, no matter how strong it looks right now, would go into ruins if "the switch was turned off" by "Coordinators" of a certain national origin I wouldn't wanna mention here.

What we are seeing now is just the show that we are allowed to see, as perceived by them and given to us in the information form.

Good luck with you passion!
Is B92 going to post my comment without their "forced upon" filters?

The problem with Kosovo's leadership is that they are more politically motivated than economically. The closest comparison to Kosovo is Moldova, both are very similar in many ways... fundamentally that they are hardly able to function as independent states due to lack of foreign investment and stability!

Investors will not pour their money into Kosovo like Ceku thinks, why would they? There is a MASSIVE socio-political issue that simply creates a feeling of instability. Unemployment is 40%-50% and the crime rate is practically unchecked. Would you invest in such unpredictability?

Sure, energy companies like RWE and E.On might invest into Kosovo's energy, but hardly anything more.

Fact of the matter is that Kosovo will more than likely not join the EU in the next 20 years. Why? It is far too poor!

The EU would first consider Serbia, Macedonia, Bosnia, Montenegro, probably even Belarus or Ukraine or even Albania into their fold long before they think of potential states such as Kosovo!

I think for the time being, Kosovo should make use of the fact that they are a part of Serbia, because at least Serbia has foreign investment and a functioning economy/infrastructure...

An independent Kosovo would simply not pick itself up for years! The educated and physically able would pour into neighbouring Croatia and Italy because they would see no future in Kosovo. They would send money back to their families, but due to property taxes being increased as well as commodity prices to cope with the influx of foreign currency, Kosovo would not move forward, and I can give many similar examples from Eastern and South Eastern Europe.

Instead of first declaring independence and then looking for solutions to their problems, they should solve all internal problems with the help of developed Serbia under UN citizenship, otherwise we will have a second Moldova in Europe!

To begin with, Kosovo Albanians need a new leader, because this Ceku is hopeless!

Agim Elshani,

Don't speak about Serbia as... the other. You are also part of Serbia.
Hope you will join EU as part of Serbia as soon as possible.

An indepdendent Kosovo in my opinion is NOT welcome in the EU and UN.
We don't need rogue states!

Fratko - sorry for bursting your bubble but the facts are very simple. Serbia is a legal entity which is internationally recognised (i.e. a seat at the UN)and will remain so, whatever the situation in Kosovo. Serbia prospers financially whilst Kosovo remains an economic backwater.

Dear Agim, please quote where i have mentioned at ANY time that i am interested in the monasteries in Kosovo. Just like all Albanians aren't religious Jihadi zealots, neither are all Serbs religious zealots. My only interest is in the Serbian population living in Kosovo, whose life will be hell if they are under the control of the Albanians. It just happens to be luck that all the mineral wealth is under the feet of the Serbian part of Kosovo.

Remind me again Agim why you have a right to the northern part of Kosovo, populated by the Serbs, when you demand to be let free from the Serbs? As Kosovo is not and has never been a country and it's borders only being administrative, why do you want the Serbian part? Also, explain how your legal entitlement to the northern part is any different from Serbia'a entitlement to ALL of Kosovo?

The answer is simple, and known to EVERY Albanian poster here. The war was all about grabbing resources from Serbia, nothing to do with oppression (that's just great propaganda). This is the reason why especially the US desperately wants to keep Kosovo in one piece. Coincidence that the world's largest coal mining company is Peabody, which also happens to be one of George Bush's main campaign fundraisers???

I don't think so. You albanina posters waffle on about oppression and having the moral high ground, Milosevic, murder, etc, etc, but the facts are these:

1) KLA started the war
2) KLA told the 800, 000 albanians to leave Kosovo, they were never expelled by Serb forces.
3) 10,000 Albanians dead - NO chance. The UN says nearer 8000 and that includes more than 3000 Serbs, so it wasn't a massacre.
4) The US intervened for humanitarian reasons - RUBBISH. If that was the case why didn't they invade Sudan to prevent HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS, not thousands of people dying? Simple, they want to control the route of the future caucus pipelines and mine the mineral wealth under Kosovo.

So don't waste time saying Serbia lost Kosovo because of what it did to the albanina population because ALL the Albanina posters KNOW that is factually incorrect. It's all about MONEY, always has been, always will be.

Anyway, it's too late for the Trepca mines, they were sold to the Greeks!!!

Have a nice day.

Agim - and if the Albanians aren't interested in the mineral wealth, then it's easy to compromise and split the province in two along ethnic lines, like you want to Split Serbia along ethnic lines.

That sounds logical to me. I'd be interested to hear from ANY albanian why that shouldn't be the case.

So my dear PB, there was never any question whether Kosova was the craddle of Serbia or all those Monasteries on western part of Kosova, but the real aim is underground natural wealth. I have said this many times that serbia does not care about anything esle and you Mr. PB just confirmed that to me and others on this site.

PB,
only yesterday there was an article in B92 about the lack of foreign investors in Serbia proper, its not like you are doing great.
And by not having a clear legal status for Kosovo, there is no clear legal status for Serbia either.
And by having such a situation there is always a potential threat to the security, which means, both countries wont be in peace, and therefore nobody will want to invest in either country, so it is not as easy as you have put it...

Of course Mr Tadic, the most corrupted countries in the world Russia and China will support you to oppress over 2million people.
Milosevic was supported by Russia and China but it does not work like that anymore, its only a old song and you can listen to it as much as you can Mr Tadic.

``Because of a lack of status, we are unable to take loans to invest here,'' Ceku says at the government building in Pristina, across the street from the 15th century Sultan Mehmet Fatih Mosque. ``We can't use the money from privatization. Investors are not willing to come until final status is solved.''

Well Mr Ceku, if you declare unilateral independence, the final status still won't be solved. STATR NEGOTIATING IN GOOD FAITH OR SUFFER A LACK OF INVESTMENT.

All is crystal clear now. Taken from Bloomberg "At the mines, Haxhiu is focused on harnessing the energy in Kosovo's 14.7 billion tons of coal."

THIS is THE REAL reason why NO albanian has been able to provide me with logical justification as to why they should keep northern Kosovo. All the natural wealth of the province is in the north.

Well, like i've said before, if the albaninas in Kosovo declare independence from Serbia, the Serbs in northern Kosovo should do the same. The beauty of that is that as Kosovo will legally remain a part of Serbia, they wll be able to attract international investment, whereas in the Albanian part of Kosovo, it will remain in a legal limbo, and as Ceku himself said, nobody wants to invest where there is legal uncertainty.

Have a nice day.
