Bosnia was and is an independent entity, to confuse its historic identity with SFRJ is nonsense. The propaganda machines from the Serb and Croat nationalists, that spat out the lies in the 1990’s have now made the magical transformation possible based on the lie repeated becomes the truth accepted. The notion that parts of Bosnia can be split off and ceded to Serbia and Croatia is not consistent with any process except for the principles of war and occupation. RS is an ill gained region within Bosnia, the displacement of Bosnians, both in reality and in mentality, within this region for homogenous and monocultural inhabitants is a recipe for conflict not only in BiH but ultimately in Serbia and Croatia. The Dalmatians have greater claims to their regions than the artificial claims made by RS equally so too the Hungarians in Vojvodina and the Bosnians in Sandjak. The bloodied carved lines of RS borders are not historic nor reflect the ideals of multicultural co existence that underpin any resolution. The problem is that the Serbs campaign in the 90’s of terror and military force makes it hard for others to accept that their aims are anything to be trusted. Free RS from its shackles of blind nationalism and unite Bosnia with its Orthodox, Muslim, Catholic and non religious brothers and sisters.

RS should wait and see what the outcome of the Kosovo process is. If states olike the US back a unilateral declaration by Kosovo, RS should declare independence and hopefully receive the recognition and backing of Serbia and Russia.

As much as everyone says they can handle Russia, they should remember that Russia supplies over a third of oil to Europe not to mention how much natural gas. So Europe should make sure who she decides to side with.

What's the difference between present day Bosnia nad 1988 Yugoslavia? Both have roughly 3 groups of people. They were better off as Yugoslavia and now they are on their own and what do they have? Pride? Where? When over half the people don't want to be a part of the country, when the best players in Bosnia of Croatian or Serbian ethnicity play for those respective countries. What do you have? No one can get along now, you have 2 entities, and Solana is saying they need to let the past behind them? Well that is hard when you encourage Muslims to bring lawsuits and keep talking about war 15 years after. Isn't that a double standard? Why can you not say in Kosovo let the past be the past and future the future. This just doesn't sound right to me.

Yes, the only way to lasting peace in Bosnia is a new referendum, this year would be perfect, a 15 year old anniversary referendum if to abandon the artificial state of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

I am sure that 2/3 of the Bosnian citizens would choose to join Serbia and Croatia instead of being citizens to an just as artificial state as old SFRY was.

If Javier Solana is "so worried" about the current status of Bosnia, then he should work to get the UN out of there. This is also a tired subject.
