The Serbs have more class than to threaten violence if they don't get their way.

The Albanians have always threatened violence. So what if they threaten that. Will they actually be stupid enough to follow through? Do they actually believe that Serbia will sit back and let part of their country be taken away? Serbia has a lawful claim on Kovoso so unless the UN being the only legitimate judge here decrees different Serbia will have the right to fight for what is theirs.

This is not threatening violence but merely saying that if the soverency of this country is attacked then it must be defended.

The US as mighty as they are have no legal right to give away that which doesn't belong to them. The sherriff has no right to empound property without a court order.

If Serbia doesn't need Kosova than why is it "fighting" so much for it?

Um... because Kosovo has been, and is currently, part of Serbia. So if the state of Rhode Island declared unilateral independence from the US and Washington objected - which it would - would you say that the US needs Rhode Island more than Rhode Island needs the US?

Your argument is weak.

Dragane...
all of it is Serbia... you should not make the mistake to easily "give away" serbian territory! there is nothing to be given away!

if Albanians are threatening with violence...so what???

they would only shoot themselves in their own feet!

in any way, Serbia is gaining support and therefore there is absolutely no reason to write such "appeasement"-lines!

Albanians in KiM will have broad autonomy, and that´s it!

everything beyond that is out of question!

Penn, you flat out are completely ill advised. Kosova doesn't need Serbia, Serbia needs Kosova.

Period.

If Serbia doesn't need Kosova than why is it "fighting" so much for it?

Illir,

Your comment is wrong.

There has only been one war in the Balkans since 1998, so when you say 'wars', you are wrong.

Also, the actions by the Kosovo Albanians started that war, whether you accept that fact or not. The reason i say that is because if the KLA didn't attack civilians and government employees there would not have been a military crackdown.

That is why your comment is wrong.

Can anyone explain to me the slightest actual dependency of Kosovo on Serbia

Kosovo simply cannot function without Serbia’s
acceptance of the final solution. The only railroad and the only two road
links between Kosovo and the heart of Europe go across Serbia. All other
alternative transit routes, through Montenegro, Albania, or Macedonia, are
taking Kosovo away from Europe, not into it.

Kojen is absolutely right. The albanians have threatened violence if they don't get their way, and that is the only card they hold. However, it has worked in persuading the US in supporting this illegal and immoral greater albania plan. It's time for Serbia raise the stakes. Tell the US in no uncertain terms that northern Kosovo and Republika Srpska will join Serbia if they go ahead with their unilateral recognition.

Another funny guy. So in order to show the world that it won't take independence on the chin, once Kosova becomes independent Serbia should in addition give itself a big kick in the you know where by turning its back on EU and NATO! Doesn't make much sense really.

Montgomery's opinion is spot on, Serbia stance is like a robber going into a bank with a gun pointed at its head, saying 'Give me the money, or I shoot myself'!

Ilir

Take it or not, Serbia must face payment of the bill, and the bill is large, it has could be larger.

Serbia is making WARS in Ballkans since 1998, so directly and indirectly with Kosovo Independence on the way and Serbian people who by the way are knowing better everyday all the things and own government will simply accept that.
Ilir Pristina, and
I don't work for my government.
PS: Happy to see Kosovo as a state so to invest more money here.

Cohen is absolutely spot on. Moreover, I am certain that both Tadic & Kostunica will be making that message quite clearly and have done so in all the diplomatic meetings that have been held recently.

Given the US mustering coming via the likes of Condi it would seem that the US realise that the EU are getting the message and the US is looking all the more isolated in it's effort at forcing the partition of Serbia. Fact remains if the US could have got away with it alone it would have done it - now is the opportunity for the US to rein in thier puppets and tell them that they could never deliver on promises that was not theirs to make.
