JoJo Davis,

There will be no UNSC resolution so no official independence. And you know that!

20% Albanians in the Serb government: YES!

YES! For sure. Live together, work together, party together. Serb, Albanese! Welcome in Europe!

To Niall O'Doherty:

Sir, I would agree with you in principle. I am not sure that this will break the deadlock. Either way, the lack of such proposals from Serbian government shows that Serbia doesn't have any honest intent to integrate K-Albanians into Serbian society. Unfortunately in Serbian mindset, as I have mentioned in a different posting, the Albanians are considered "the occupiers" of their land and such are destined to live like third-class citizens and bowed to the Serbian rule. Serbian government had many occasions throughout the past 8-9 years to show its good intention (if there was one). I was present at the Jeremic lecture in Harvard last Friday and when some one asked, what has Serbia done to reconcile with Albanian population in Kosovo, Jeremic answer was simply that the this whole mess was Milosevic's fault. He avoided the answer by adding that the apology has to be reciprocal. However we all know that President Tadic went and paid respect to Srebenica victims and he offered Croatia an apology in the names of serbian people. With this attitude Serbian government has completely alleniated Albanian population of Kosovo and thus there is no chance that K-Albanians will ever trust Serbia's political elite. To anyone, this is the problem with failed negotiations. Some people still say that prolonging negotiations will bear a compromise. This is like saying that by refusing to pay the credit cards, the debt will go away. On the contrary it will become harder to pay it.

"kosova could only ONLY ONLY remain part of serbia if the albanians were given 20% or more of the serbian govt since they are 20 % of the population "

I agree absolutley, that is what should be done. Full autonomy along with 20% of seats in the Serbian parliament reserved for the K-Albanians and 20% of government seats. I proposed this before on this forum not so long ago. I believe that if Belgrade is serious about keeping Kosovo and re-incorporating their Albanian compatriots into mainstream Serbian society it will propose this towards the end of the talks which will outflank the seperatists in Pristina.

Everybody wins either way. Full agreement, economic and political stability and fastrack to EU membership.

Serbia and serbs respect international law? Since when?
UNMIK passport should be recognized by Serbia, but instead Serbia doesn't recognize that there is such a presence in Kosova such as UNMIK or KFOR. Serbia clearly breaks international law by refusing to cooperate to hand out INTERNATIONALLY wanted criminals.

In a few months when kosovo is officially independent, will you agree to refer to the Serbs of Kosovo as "Albanian Serbs". To be consistent you must since you currently refer, in your post #9 above, to the Albanians of Kosovo as "Serbian Albanians".

Well, why don't the Serbs in the Bosnia and Montenegro and Vojvodina and Kosovo move to Serbia, since they also technically have a country?!

What is this I have noticed...every time a nationalist Serb launches an argument, they immediately contradict themselves.

And in the end, it's what lost them Kosovo. Their only weapon so far has been to threaten other countries into stalling things.

With their credibility razed to the ground, these "autonomy" solutions just sound as a plot to ruin more lives to the ears of the Albanians and the West.

The "EU" want both parties to come forward with new ways of thinking and Serbia is going to these talks with that in mind. Lets hope the Serbian Albanian local leadership in Serbia's southern province can be just as accomodating in moving these "negotiation" talks forward. The fact that the Serbian Albanians will attend the "negotiations" implies they realise the need to find a compromise and continued opportunities for full reconciliation of all Serbian citizens. He must be kidding! Or, he doesn’t understand their position in this situation! Firstly: did he ask himself are they in a position to “offer” anything? Secondly: can he explain how will this so called “essential autonomy” lead to stability? How can he guaranty that?

Nice try Mr. BUT NO THANKS, we simply do not want to sign any contract with you, as everyone knows that for a contract to be signed, firstly a two sided good will need to exist, what in this case is missing, and of course NO DEAL.
I will clarify the position of the Serb side: INDEPENDENCE - TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT. In one or another way – as I said earlier in my comments – regardless of the consequences, as the worst scenario in an independent Kosova is better than the best scenario in an Kosova inside Serb borders again.

It would take a genious to come up with such a proposal. I have to applaud to the Serbian negotiation team. They have spent real efforts and energy for this deal. Itlooks that they have adopted Ahtisari deal.
This is pathethic. They would be willing to disscus what liberties they are ready to grant us to live our lives. And the hipocrisy of all this is the fact that Kosovo gvmnt, as I write this, is working on preparing laws to be adopted by the end of November by Kosovo assembly. And among other laws to be passed is decentralization according to Ahtissari packet.
And they are ready to let us govern ourselves within the province. How generous.
There is only one thing I can say to this and that is:

Independence is the compromise.

The 120 day delay was not made for Serbia and Kosovo to discuss independence. It was simply the last chance for EU to get it together and recognize independence as a whole.

The only matter the Albanians will be willing to discuss is the Friendship Treaty between the country of Kosovo and the country of Serbia.

Anything else will fall in deaf ears.

The writing of this proposal must have taken some serious thinking in Belgrade.
“Our suggestion means decentralization”. Now that is brain wave of some sort.
The only thing left now is for Mr Bogdanovic to work on his power point presentation. I think that would impress the Albanians and really do the trick.
