Illic is the epitomy of the old guard Belgrade corrupt politicians. He is the generation of political figures that needs to die off, before Serbia can really make an effort to improve itself. Unfortunately we are the same age, so I hope I out-live him. I wish no one harm but, people like him have to go. He, and like him, is what holds serbia back. It is because of people like him, that I had to leave my country and be denied rsiding in my land of birth.

"Why don't you better tell K-Serbs to participate in their country's elections which is Kosovo? That would be more appropriate under current circumstances."

They should! And Kosovars should take part in national Serbian elechtions.
Re-integrate in Serbia. And join the EU as soon as possible.

Rembember, we, the West, intervened for peace. NOT TO CREATE A NEW STATE!

1244!!

It is good to see that at least in my country, Holland, more and more people see what is going on.

This must be stopped. It will be stopped (I hope).

Kosovo is Serbian. Serbia is European!

Welcome and get a bit more post-nationalistic please!

A lot of you here make me feel very sad! Stop your pre-Modernity dreams/nightmares of nationalism.

We did not fight two World Wars to create new states in the new Millennium.

Kosovars, forget it! It is as simply as that!

(don't you understand: you are welcome in Europe, you don't need an own state...)

Joe,

YOU are living in a dreamworld:

* international law
* 1244
* no UNSC

Stop waisting time and energy. Devote them to your country, Serbia. And enter Europe!

Bravo miri. I find you response very funny and excellent. Some of the Serbs of this site have a long way to move from their dream world to the realities of current Kosovo.

“Keeping Kosovo is the number one state and national interest. Until that situation is solved, there will be no elections,” Ilić told daily Večernje Novosti, though he did admit that elections must be called by the end of the year according to Constitutional Law.

I just wonder what are people of Serbia thinking when they hear this rhetoric. Serbian people deserve better than this. Somon Serbians in Serbia, time for change

Olaf,

Indeed. Time for change. And the Kosovars can help. Vote in this election. Take part in Serbian political life.

TIME FOR CHANGE!

Please vote in this election. You are a Serbian citizen.
Remember: India (Hindu nation) has MUSLIM president.
Take part in Serbian political life. Your country is Serbia!"

Dragan,

Legally or illegally bombed? It does not matter. What matters is that a country committing horrible crimes was hit to stop its criminal activities against his own citizens. For this reason it was one of the greatest humanitarian actions of the XX century. The US s/b praised for ever to have mastered the moral courage to lead that historic salvation action.

Looking at the comments above I can only conclude that even an article just mentioning Ilic immediately attracts his own kind: the lowest of the lowest.

Like in any democracy, ANYONE can be a candidate for the position of president.
Of course being ELECTED is a different story, and (thankfully) not going to happen to mr. Ilic.

I think this move shows that his political end is coming nearer. And he knows it.
The great highway-scam he pulled off is slowly collapsing, and the few villagers in Sumadija that mr. Ilic manages to bribe with a piece of stolen highway are by no means sufficient to base any electoral future on.
Can someone please make this man ambassador to a small, faraway country. So we can get on with our lives and forget about him.

Illic deserves to be president of Serbia and the Serbs deserve Illic as their leader.
It seems that if there is a choice to be made the serbs choose the worst option. They truly are their own worst enemy. And why not, since they insist on holding onto childish myths. What other Orthodox bishop would bless hardened criminals released from prison just to be paramilitaries for Serbia's war machine. This goon squad was used along with the MUP to reck havoc on Serbia's neighbors.

Illic is of this mentality!

Afrim Hoxha

Kostunica and his alikes yell so loud about respecting the LAW, but at the same time it is KOSTUNICA and his alikes who are breaking this very own LAW.
This is nothing else but just naive and funny.
I wonder how Kostunica will justify that he can break the law but not others.
It looks like laws do not really apply to serbs but to others only. Serbs seem to be some people who are higher than the law itself.
This is one more reason why Kosova does not deserve to be under Serbia because as we see, Serbs break the laws and promises when it plays in their favor.
Simply, we can not trust to stay with people like Kostunica anymore. We do not want to pay another high price.
