I think the Serbs that live in Kosovo should speak out and have a voice.
Remember at one time it was called Yugoslavia a proud country under Tito. Slobo took over, made the economy falter giving birth to drug dealers, thugs, and child killers and rapists trying to make a greater Serbia and look where it got him and a great country.

But let’s stop talking about the past when the dinosaurs roamed the earth. An lets move foward

Ron; the deal was not Autonomy it is quit explicit stated that it was self determination. This is the strongest ground that the Kosovars have stood upon and that is why the west are not backing of. They have promised the Kosovars (Albanian & Serbs) Independence.

Ron

Jon,

Where would you have been now without NATO intervention.
The NATO occupied Kosovo. If not there would not be a Kosovo 'government' now.

Why not invade China/Tibet now?

I mean, without NATO you would be nowhere. And the deal was: autonomy. And you know that!

PlayaBlanca,
Unfortunately defeated drive is Serbian attempt to keep a land that does not belong to them.

There are Serbian churches in England, Germany etc, but you cannot pretend that England and Germany is Serbian. There are also mosques and synagogues in London, but no one is claiming that England is Arabic or Jewish.

Stop using ridiculous claims and myths.

The facts are that Serbs came to Balkan (that is they occupied someone else’s land) and have to retreat back. Whether you came on the 7th century or 11th it does not matter. You cannot use a Kosovan battle that you lost, to claim that the land is Serbian. By the way on that battle you had Albanians as well fighting the Turks.

You cannot speak on behalf of 2 million Albanians in Kosova, as we have our representatives and the government in Kosova that represent the Kosovan population that keep saying that we will not settle for anything else that is short of Independence. Please do not use references to unofficial surveys. It is true that the economy is Kosova (and Serbia as well) it is not in the most wanted state, but we can see that status quo has major effect on this as well.

It is unfortunate that we are wasting time and not talking on how to build the economic relationships as neighbouring countries. Not that Kosova is desperate to have good relationship with Serbia, but that is the forward thinking (as the independence is a done deal).

Good news for the K-Serbs and Kosova. PlayaBlanca,
what you are saing is probably true but there is only one way to economic prosperity in Kosova and that is independence.

PlayaBlanca

pre 16 godina

Most of the 2 million Kosovars care about improving their economy and their standard of living, than they do about Kosovo's independence. That is a fact from a current survey I have read. It is only the extremist separatists, like the ones in Kosovos proxy government, and some of the commentators on this sight, that are so adamently pro-independence. People care more about eating and shelter than they care about what their nation is called. Why don't the Alban separatists give up on their defeated drive - even the Albanian Kosovo citizens do not support you?

HamiJava

pre 16 godina

I am of a sound mind and body and, I will tell you now that Kosovo will always remain Serbian land. Kosovo Albanians that have lived on these lands are welcome to stay. Albanian separatists, the ones that want to take Serbian land away, and re-name the land as an Albanian entity, will be defeated. The 21st century EU, and with all the radical Islamic actions that have taken place since 1999, will have a totally different view of what Islamic Pristina should look like. Be real folks, why would the EU set up and independent Islamic country in it's own backyard? Not after the wakeup the world got from Osama Bin-Laden. Let's face it, would Osama have a better chance of infiltrating a Muslim ruled Kosovo or, a Serbian ruled Kosovo? If the US State Dept. needs help in countering Islamic terrorism, consult the expert Islam terrorist fighters in Belgrade. Shalom to all.

But Belgrad is the capital today. Most people how live in kosovo want to remain part of serbia . And can`t wait for Serbian police to return. As they are sick of the k.l.a & there violence & drugs.

EA,

First: there is international law! Respect it!

Second: The millions of Tibetans are also in a good position to tell what they want to happen with Tibet! Why aren't we listening to them.

Three: Indeed, again, why special treatment for the Kosovars? Why break internation law for them? And not for the Kurds?

Four: I am only representing myself. What I DO KNOW: people in the West really want no other state. Come on, do we want a European Union with 50 members? Basque? Flanders? Kosovo? Northern Kosovo? Albanian Macedonia?

NO! Stop it now! Integrate in Europe.
To me the Germans in Belgiums seem pretty happy. Thought they are part of Belgium. And not Germany.
Follow that example!

EA

Ron,
You keep on saying you are from Western European Union but what exactely you mean to us? Do you want to tell us that you represent the Western European thinking when it comes to Kosova issue? No one would believe that in here. Your way of thinking has nothing to do with the Western European Union thinking and for God's sake stop making some unfounded comperisons in here when you talk about Kosova and other conflicts in the worlds such as Tibet, Kurdistan and Osetia. I advise you to read the history of each conflict more thoroughly and from independent sources. No one here with a sound mind is in a position to tell to more than two millions Kosovar Albanians to stay within Serbia.

Jon

Ron, Thank you for your generosity on offering the Belgrade as a capital, but we are not that greedy as you are to take someone else’s land. We are happy to have Prishtina as a capital. If we really stayed in one “country” then after 50 year we will truly declare Belgrade as a capital of Albanian country. But you know that is a wishful thinking, as we are not that hungry and we only want to be as neighbouring countries.
By the way stop pretending that you are western representative.

Good for these parties deciding to take matters into their own hands. Too long have the K-Serbs been used as political pawns by other interests. These groups deserve all the support and legitimacy needed to turn them into fully developed political movements. Only local politics such as these can improve the lives of K-Serbs as well as provide a stable area for displaced K-Serbs who wish to return to their homes.

Reukcer should not be the one to speak about democracy, but that's another issue. I think the Serbians in Kosovo should take part in local elections, they can solidify their strength in the North. The elections will have no bearing on Kosovo's status resolution anyway, so get out and vote!

doesn´t it look suspicious that the US are saying what you desperately wish to hear and that even the serbian premier says something like that...?

they are very good in keeping you calm! :)

you´ll be extremely surprised, I guess.

YOU ARE PART OF SERBIA. Accept it. And live on!

I am from Western Europe but I will never understand the Balkan spirit.
