I really hope that this government will collapse. They have done nothing to improve life of ordinary Serbian citizen let alone the IDP from Kosova and refugees form Krajina. Serbia deserves much better than this. People of Serbia are tired from the politics of isolation that are being served by these politicians.
Guys, get rid of them and ask for jobs and “Bolji Zivot”
Dont listen to the postings of Serbs living abroad. They have excellent lifes while you are stuck with these politicians and fighting for survival and ideologies of the politicians and those living abroad. Wake up !!!

governments come - governments go!

i wouldn´t collapse because of a clean government without ds.

but let´s stay realistic, they always did what kostunica wanted, so the use of the army won´t split´em either.

Yuo're talking about helping the Kosova Serbs, but it seems that they are not counting much on Serbia. Eight Serb parties have regiestered to run in the upcoming Kosova elections despite Koshtunica's appeal for boycott. The Serbian Government has been screaming to the top of its lungs how UN Resolution 1244 is not being implemented, on the other hand it does not recognize it: it boycotts UNMIK administration, does not allow the local Serbs to join it, and discourages Serbs to return (so that it could blame Albanians for something). As K Serb leader Ivanovic said, this is a call to the Serbs to leave Kosova. Kostunica is a coward. He wants the reality on the ground to make a decision for him because he has no courage to make it for himself. He'll sell out the K Serbs and your churches so that he can blame America.

bganon,

Nobody is aksing you to give up on K. Serbs. I don't think that Belgrade's stance is helping the K. Serbs. Belgrade is more interested in their ego and pride than K.serbs. If Belgrade was interested in K. Serbs this whole thing wouold've been solved a while ago.

The K.Serbs in the south whatever happens will have to live together with albanians, and I think Blegrade is obstructing the integration of K. Serbs. Serbs in the south Are in a difficult position, but the reality is that at least the sotuhern part of Kosovo will get independence, therefore they should not rely on Belgrade's destructive policy.

Bganon,

the fact remains that the election does not need to be "called" for over 3 months and I think this is the key point with regards the local and Presidential elections. I don't think the elections are a big part of the news. This is more internal postering between a "coalition" government that actually given the circumstances is performing well. Coalitions are what they are and I don't think differences of opinions should be hyped up nor created into a panic when none really exisits - this does more to damage the economy then any initiative the governement promotes.

I guess it is down to the way you look at the glass - half full or half empty?

Personally it's half full with me and to add boy did I enjoy the first half of Jelen!

Which comes to compromise - they do not need to be a loss to each if you look at it in the right perspective - compromise can in effect be win-win!

I don't believe if Croatia is ready to join should it be held back beacause Serbia is not - the EU has moved on and each nation now is being assesed individually and in all likelyhood will require more stringent member state consent - there is even talk of refendum on access for Turkey and in reality this might be a test Serbia will face too if it does not join in the next 3 years.

Beyond that EU memebership is not specifically the driver to economic success - it is the process of membership which is actually key i.e. all the standards one must achive in so many different aspects be it social, economic, political or judicial. Going along the path does not even mean that the final step is essential and their are debates that being part of the free-trade process but free from the red tape is actualy an alternative that could be more beneficial

Crack...crack.....crack, wow, so much cracking on this government. On one side they wanna hang tough, on the other, it's slipping through their hands.

Why doesn't Russia help them out?

Princip,

I am not sure if you know this, but it takes time to prepare elecations. You can't just call them for next week.

I think you would learn a lot if you read the comments of you brothers and sisters in Serbia in the serbian version of the site, and see what they think of DSS and Koshtunica.

A lot of their views are similar to what albanians have been saying here. But you willinges to disagree on anything with albanians stops you from seeing reason.

bganon

Well Princip this is news because a senior member of the government made the statement, which in itself is evidence of disagrement within the government on the issue.

nikshala you got it half right people in Serbia are getting sick of lack of action, stagnation and party politics, rather than real constructive policy. But that doesnt mean that Kosovo should be given up.

You see some of us have no choice but to support Kosovo's Serbs - nobody else is supporting them and (sorry but its true) Kosovo Albanians cant be trusted to look after them.

I dont like to see Serbian politics crippled by one issue all the time but the answer isnt just to drop it. The key is to find a compromise unrealistic as that may sound in reality.

But there is always a compromise - perhaps a compromise that both sides will be very unhappy with, but a compromise none the less.

"The legal deadline for the local and presidential ballots to be called is December 31"

- "Calling" elections is not the same as "holding" elections so I really can't see why this keeps popping up as news especially given that it is 14tn September anyone would think it was the 14th December!

All the signs are evident that this govermant is going to collapse. This is another good reason for serbia to drag things on with Trika as an excuse that they do not have govermant in place to run the foreigh affairs of serbian state.

"The legal deadline for the local and presidential ballots to be called is December 31. " - I thought that the most important thing for Koshtunica and rest of DSS is respecting the law and constitution!!

I am sure that most of serb people in Serbia are sick of this power strugle and stagnation cause by DSS and their fight for a lost cause (Kosovo).

And I am also sure that Prinicp, Cvele and others will disagree with that, but then again, they live their comfy life in the evil Western Europe!
