'Personally I trust Kostunica and not Tadic and as every day passes more and more people favor Kostunica'

On Mars maybe but in Serbia DSS support is at 10 percent. DS is more than double that.

I personally believe Tadic wants elections by the end of the year because he knows he would win largely because he has defended Serbia's demand to maintain its sovereignty over Kosovo, however, I also feel that if he should win he would then sell out Kosovo to the Americans in a second! And thus the push to do it now, mostly because the Americans want an election this year. Kostunica is no fool and he knows this and that's why he is pushing for next spring, if Tadic tests Kostunica he will lose since I have no doubts that Kostunica will align with the radicals, furthermore it seems likely that by next spring when Kosovo still remains Serbian Kostunica will have most of the popularity. This push for elections in December is all about political survival for Tadic. Personally I trust Kostunica and not Tadic and as every day passes more and more people favor Kostunica,

Two things I see here:

First, DSS and DS have been engaged in this political tug of war since the early days of the post-Milosevic period with the "moderate nationalist" Kostunica, and the Habermasian Djindjic. The struggles between Kostunica and Tadic are more of the same as the two parties jockey for power.

Second, DS is far more popular among Serbia's democratic society, and DSS, being a party in the middle between DS and SRS, is now weighing the options of throwing in its lot with the SRS for better political privileges in a potential coalition government.

Though it should be noted, at least for Serb citizens, that there is no anti-democratic party functioning in Serbia today. The SRS is more of a right wing populist party, than any modern embodiment of the SPS. Nevertheless, for every vocal supporter of Nikolic, there is an equally vocal denouncer.

For years albanians have been trying to steal Serbian land and they have always failed. Even now for 8 years with nato's help; they still haven't managed to steal it. Yet they keep trying and threatening. Fellow albanians don't be fooled to think you will succeed in stealing our land. It's not going to happen even with nato's propaganda.

bganon makes another salient point, though I am fairly sure the DS will back down again given that it appears as if Jovanovic took the party spine with him when he was expelled.

Princip, your comment is breathtakingly naive. If you lived in this country you would know that only coalition politicians could claim with a straight face that the coalition is working, unless by working you mean working to ensure that the politicians here are able to get away with doing essentially nothing other than engaging in political stunts. Furthermore, you would know that Blic continues to establish itself as the only paper worth reading in this country.

Oh and if I were in government with DSS and they were threatening to undermine the law or continuously blackmailing I would think about leaving the government - forcing general elections.

Then it would be upto DSS - receive 10 percent of the vote, form a government with the radicals, lose Kosovo and last less than a year in government. After that they would be wiped off the electoral map forever.

Or join with DS again and start acting according to the law and behaving as the junior partner in government that it is.

Better still DSS can keep the PM job, start behaving properly and continue the work of the government.

Some of us are getting very fed up of all this and our patience is wearing thin.

I dont think this is an empty threat. We have unfortunately seen this type of thing before from DSS.

If it comes to it DS must not back down this time. It looks as if the fact that DSS managed to get both PM and Minister of Police is leading them to believe they can always dictate terms to their senior partner in power.

The law must be respected and is above party principle.

Lets not forget a party with only 10 percent support in opinion polls (polls, not just one poll) is hardly in a position to dictate to anybody.

«Daily Blic writes that Prime Minister Vojislav Koštunica's Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS)»

I think that Kostunica's party should change its name for Radical Party of Serbia. The proof of this is that because of him Mladic is still free and well.

I am sure the albanians on here would love to have a Serbian leader who would be willing to give them Kosovo on a silver platter, but they need to wake up from this dream. Kostunica is doing an excellent job for Serbia and her interests, as the evidence shows.
As for their own leader, Ceku, why he isn't in the Hague after the war crimes he and his troops commited in the Medak pocket is a question that Carla del Ponte needs to answer. The Canadian peacekeepers that were in the region actually fought pitched battles against the Croats and performed heroically to defend the Serb civilians. They are more than willing to testify for the war crimes they witnessed, which are too heinous for me to describe here (you can read about it in Scott Taylor's book 'Tested Mettle'). It just goes to show how anti-Serb the Hague court is. When you have Ceku now a political leader, and Nasir Oric getting a slap on the wrist for his attrocities, no sane person can tell me that the court is impartial.

PRINCIP, as for the stability of this coalition... we have seen it when Kostunica's party voted for Nikolic to be the speaker of the parliament.
Kostunica talks of the laws only when they are on his favor, not otherwise.

Interesting. Well, if this is true, it means that the reckless EU/US/NATO policy for Kosovo is beginning to produce its just reward. Their hypocritical exercise to establish a future failed Kosova and the ultimate the mono-ethnic Greater Albania is truly destabilizing.

If this comes true, I wonder if NATO will attack and bomb the civilian infrastructure and economy again, or maybe, once again try to carve up this sovereign nation?

Newwspaper spin in an attempt to increase it's readership. The reality is that the Coalition is performing well collectively while still able to distinguish indivuality but the consensus holds on issues that matter;- Serbia's Sovereignity and it's economic and social future.

Even Tadic's party can not trust Kostunica's party while Kostunica's party always want to join the radicals. So how do you expect that albanians trust to be under such governments again????
This is one more reason why Kosova should be and will be independent.

Very good from DSS, finally showing its real face as a right wing nationalistic party in line with SRS and SPS.

Cannot wait until Serbia gets what it deserves, a hardline, nationalist President, who will become the next Serbian hero, loosing the battle of Kosovo.

Instead of worryng about internationl law and the globe, Koshtunica should respect and worry about laws of Serbia (Constitutional Law).

I hope people in Serbia see him for what he is, a destrucitve, power-hungry, blackmailer.

How many naives are up there to believe that Koshtunica is a democrat? I have mentioned in the past that Kostunica is the "modern" version of Miloshevic whose the policy of brinkmanship bought Serbia to the knees. Soon after the 10th of December he will provoke a general election in Serbia to mess up the international community agenta and still keep Kosova issue hostage as long as he can. As Kosova independence is comming closer and closer everyday so closer will come the Serbian new election. So he did last year and he will do again just to frustrate the the Kosovar Albanians and the international community. Then he will say again and again that the territorial integrity and sovereignity of Serbian is threatened as nothing has happened. He doesnt give a damn about the negotiation, all he wants is his time and threats to destibilise the region as a very good excuse to justify the partion of Kosova. Will he join the radical? Who cares? International community should not be taken by surprise but prepared to give the answer to this political adventures of modern times as they have done in the past.
