It is a very realistic piece.
I just cant believe that a Russian analyst could say all this!!!

Serbia should concentrate on negotiations, that is absolutely true.

serbia should look out for the needs of its own citizens and no need to worry about the citizens of another country.

It is interesting to see that not every Serb is a hothead like Kalasnikov Kostunica, Princip or Cvele. There is a ray of hope for the Serbs after all.

Good point: if US doesn't have to obey international law, why should Serbia and Russia?

TO ALL:

What about a swap: South Kosovo for Serbian part of Bosnia?

I believe they might use Russia pulling out of the CFE as a reason to recognise Kosovo. Or it might be the other way around. In any case they both want to show force and have it their way. I do believe there will be a split because west still gets what they want. While Russia can still use this as a reason to recognise some countries around them.

I believe Russia is dying for a new 1 on 1 with one of its smaller neighbours to show its might and the fact that it would be generally impossible to safely pacify the Russians without giving in to "some" of their demands.

A partnership will emerge and it will be over the Kosovo albans backs.

Serbs will be in the EU celebrating.

Cvele,

I think we can agree to disagree. Personally I think it is crucial that the US are given a chance to clarify their position. They are the ones who continue to give false hope to the ethnic-Albanians and are stopping a "negotiated solution" from resolving this with a win-win. If they really do intend to follow such a destructive route then it is important that Serbia is fully prepared. I have large amounts of doubt in such illegal folly & if it is shown to be pure bluff I think the negotiations will rapidly progress.

Oh by the way Russia gave notice to withdraw from CFE on the 14th July for the required 150 days and that surprisingly falls on the 11th December - coincidently!

Principe - Serbs
"In this sense, Serbia needs to concentrate on the negotiations, and refrain from unnecessary statements and actions, which could be construed as a provocation to the world to aggravate the situation of Serbs currently living in Kosovo,” Lazić said.

Princip I disagree
I believe he is right to the end where there is absolutely no way Serbia can influence what US will do on Dec 11th.

HOWEVER, if say Russia were to pick up on this issue and release a statement that on Dec 12th they will follow US in recognishion of RS, South Osstia and any other provinces they choose. Then the US might think twice. As well as pulling out of the conventional arms treaty which is on like 13th or something.

As well as Serbs should release a statement that if US ignores UN and their own deals and promises then why should Serbia. As soon as RS has a referendum on independence promise to recognise them right away and offer them either to be a part of Serbia or on their own.

On the contrary it is imperitive that Serbia sends the strongest "diplomatic" signal that there is no chance of the US ever getting away with such aggressive notions without making it clear that to do so has the gravest consequences that are forseeable. The Republic of Serbia has been too compliant in recent years when it should have stood it's ground and should not back off now. After all if it was not for the US insistance for illprincipled, illthought and scant disregard of the UN resolutions that they formulated and signed as well as other international norms and laws Serbia would not have to be now protecting it's sovereignity so harshly! The key is letting the US know it is no longer dealing with a cowering Serbia and the US will is not the be all end end all.

However, the Serbian diplomacy should be striving to strengthen the EU who do have a greater respect for international norms and laws and looking at ways to asisst in forging a "European" solution such as EU supervised autonomy.
