Get over it.Kosova is Albanian. The new census(estimates)puts albanian population there at 2.2 mil(not including minorities). It has had a significant increase because of high birthrates, low immigrations and relative prosperity. They will overtake Albania in 10 years let alone Serbia. You got lucky their independence is happening at this stage otherwise had it happened in later stage Kosova might have been half of yugoslavia. So celebrate you are the real winners.

Jovan,

You keep calling Kosova in a very insulting way a "Toy Republic". I don't think your grandchildren will have that same opportunity in 30 years from now. By then Albania, Kosova, and Western if not most of the Macedonia, will have surpassed 12 Albanian inhabitants. The best thing for Serbia is to let Kosova go, or risk loosing more in the future.

In the words of a famous president, "Ask not what the country can do for you. Ask what you can do for your country."

The Kosovo issue is a false dilemma! The problems of Kosovo can be solved by graduated steps, each of which contribute to an overall solution, and where not one issue is of greater importance than any other.

Do not follow the false philosophy of another unpopular president, "You are either with us or you are against us."

Here's the Serb, blaming the whole world but Serbia. As if all the western world woke up one day and decided to plot against someone; Serbia happened to pick the shortest straw.
Look at your country before blaming the world for your own problems.

I find different EU states have a differnt angle on what is actually being discussed amongst the EU ministers. In the Dutch news it would seem that even Holland has a different perspective then the UK & France would like to hear;

"There were tangible signs of a split within the 27-member block on Friday, particularly over a suggestion by Dutch Foreign Minister, Maxime Verhagen, to split the Serbian north of the province from the rest of Kosovo........
Amid the confusion, some countries are moving towards offering more concessions to pacify Belgrade. Slovenian Foreign Minister, Dimitrij Rupel, is preparing to inherit the problem in January when his country takes over the EU and is keen to win over the Serbs.

"We may need to involve the Serbs in Belgrade and Kosovo more and offer them more guarantees," he told Radio Netherlands. "But I don't think Kosovo will risk declaring independence alone, nor that Serbia will risk using force.""

http://www.radionetherlands.nl/currentaffairs/eu2070907

I guess the UK won't be airing the same news but I would be very surprised to find the UK government would be willing to stand shoulder to shoulder with the US while causing EU disunity.

"EU Enlargement Commissioner Olli Rehn told Reuters: "Neither of the parties (Serbia or Kosovo) has proposed partition nor has any party in the international community." "

- but Rehn has clearly forgotten to tell the Dutch Minister not to tell his local news outlet that in fact it has been proposed
" Minister Verhagen stuck to his guns as he briefed journalists in the blazing sunshine: "If both parties agree and the UN Security Council supports it, then we too are ready to accept it.""
http://www.radionetherlands.nl/currentaffairs/eu2070907

So now is this not telling the full truth or a blatant lie that no one in the international community has proposed partition or is it that Holland is not party to the international community - Rehn needs to make sure how he is reported as something does not add up either he is wrongly quoted or is Verhagen? Someone is clearly not telling the complete truth.

Justice Veritas...,

you´re mixing up the socalled "Kumanovo Agreement" and UNSC 1244.

these are two different documents.

never mind, if someone recognises that toy-republic and by doing so violates UNSC 1244... UNSC 1244 is the only valid legal act... "Kumanovo" would not remain an agreement to be respected.
I think that´s what you wanted to say.

What deadline? Dec 10th is a deadline only according to Ceku. Where will he be at that time? NOT IN OFFICE! So the next elect will tell albans, we are sorry, we tried our best. However, due to lack of support (none) we are unable to declare independence. Have a nice day.

EU will not support unilateral declaration but some of the EU coutries will do it and others wont.

When the US and UK support unilateral independence I would say UN resolution 1244 is no longer valid meaning Serbian army and police can enter Kosovo province.

Without UN resolution 1244 NATO has no legal right to be in Kosovo. I suppose they will leave. EU can not enter because they have no UN mandate. Unilateral moves will turn into a mess. NATO leaves, serb troops starts to regain serb territory from the withdrawing KFOR, albanians (KLA) start shooting at them and we are back to square one. We are back prior to the NATO illegal war in 1999.

I dont see how this will solve the situation albanians.

All of EU countries voted for Ahtisari plan but Russia asked for more negotiations so that what is happening right now, more negotiations including direct negotiations between Prishtina and Belgrade just like the Russian asked. The end result of all this is that there will be no outcome of these negotiations and that the EU countries and USA will accept Kosova Supervised Independence with Ahtisari plan to implement

After this happens we will discuss economic matter between Kosova and Belgrade, that is if Belgrade are willing other wise we can survive without Belgrade.
