Business and politics don't mix together.

All investments large and small should be welcomed in Serbia. Whether they be from the west or east, ALL should be welcomed and encouraged.

Serbia has a great market and it is growing by the day. As soon as large scale privatization of state companies is dealt with you will see a lot more progress in them.

Investors need no red tape, low taxation and a hard working labor force.Even a job for 10 euros a day is better than NO job at all.

To Lazar:

Look at the facts about Russia. Moscow has the largest density of $ billionaires of any capital in the world, yet the citizen live in poverty. That's capitalist Russia. Look to Norway, a Western country, where you have equality instead, the country which by the way pays for restruction of JAT in Serbia and pays to clean up the environmental mess in Russia that they disregard themselves.

Your nationalist opportunism has been noted.

Who are the investors? The huge corporations. And what do they want? Simple answer, profits and just that. That is all that these private corporations of the West exist for. So that will mean that they want to be able to fire workers more easily, suppress trade unions, reduce wages, not pay health benefits, and other such things. It is always like that, and that is why we should not try to accommodate them to the best of their desires.

On the other hand, Russian public companies that invest in Serbia actually do not fire our people but hire more people. We need to do more business with the Russians, and the Russians do want that. We're natural partners and they are willing to help us a lot. The problem is that the government is pro-West, and one can not be both pro-Russia and pro-West.

Good idea.

Having tried to invest through the privatization process, we were overwhelmed with red tape.

Worse though are the highly corrupt company directors of these companies. They see themselves as de facto owners of these government companies. They also have the final decision on who may purchase. Their intent is to stay on and "help" investors, while all the time bleeding the company and investors dry, then taking over themselves.
