the wikipedia link KS's posted shows Ceku's only education was in the Yugoslav Military Academy...

no mention of a political science, law or business education...

wow! what a candidate to spawn a political party while violating international law and continuing his business of weapons, people and drug trafficking...

way to pick the best of the breed!

here is another snippet from KS's link...

"he was the officer responsible for shelling the Serbian refugee columns and for targeting the UN-declared "safe" city of Knin during the Croatian offensive known as Operation Storm. Some 500 innocent civilians perished in those merciless barrages, and senior Canadian officers who witnessed the slaughter demanded that Ceku be indicted. O He was decorated nine times by Croatia for his service and rose to the rank of brigadier-general." Scott Taylor Canadian Esprit de Corps."

KS: "Kate, why are you refering to serbia as a woman? Why is serbia a her?"

In English a country is always referred to as 'her' if a gender is given at all.

Also, you inferred that I called Ceku an idiot. I have never said this and don't think this (although all politicians behave like idiots at times).

Toni, getting independence through the UNSC is the only way, ask the international community. Going through the back door by having countries recognize this independence one by one only puts this new so-called state in their debt forever. Just ask Israel about the Gaza Strip. Avi, what is the benifit of an independent Kosovo in the Balkans & the EU? NONE.

KS

pre 16 godina

I think that the current tone from Kostunica is quite deliberate, and designed to send the message that Serbia doesn't intend to be passive if territory is taken against her will.

Kate, why are you refering to serbia as a woman? Why is serbia a her?

Ceku an idiot?

Well the albanians have no arguments apart from treaths of violence so it is quite easy to understand Kostunica and his comments!

If you comparing the Kostunica's statements with the postings of this forum, one concludes that the postings here are quite elaborated than Serb PM words.
I guess that if Kostunica would write to this forum, most probably B92 staff would block his messages.

Kostunica's rhetoric is no different than the K_Albans. Ceku and Siediu also make provacative announcements about declaring independence, blah, blah. Go ahead and declare independence in November, Ceku, although you won't even be in office, and see how far that gets you. By-the-way, I refuse to read any comment that spells Kosovo as Kosova. There is no such place and that makes the comment irrelevant.

"Invalidation of the SC Res. 1244 is scheduled after the postponed talks, more precisely after the December 10th.
(predictor, 31. August 2007 13:53)"

And how on earth do you expect to achieve this "invalidation" of 1244 in the face of Russian (and possibly Chinese) opposition? Why do you expect Moscow to feel differently after your magic date December 10th?

Dragan

pre 16 godina

I say bravo to Kostunica for sending a crystal clear message to the americans. That message is this - we have guarantees from a resurgent Russia that they will use their veto and there is nothing you can do about that, so you better tell your albanian friends to start negotiating in good faith because the greater albania project is dead. If you choose to bypass the UN and illegally recognize a greater albania, you can expect trouble, instability, and the complete breakdown of international law all over the globe. You caused this mess in the first place by bypassing the UN when you illegally bombed Serbia for 78 days, we and the Russians are not going to let you get away with it by doing the same thing again. Welcome to the NEW new world order.

"Prime Minister Vojislav Koštunica told his cabinet that the danger of the UN Security Council "ever adopting a resolution that would serve as a basis for the stripping of Serbia of Kosovo" had been "permanently removed", Beta news agency reported."

It cannot get any clearer to the albans then that. Without UN there will never be an independent Kosovo. EVER!

wow wow wow To: all posters in B92.
You people you seems to have so much time to discus the politics, and have forgoten about the daily problems, and the situation that we are.
To Serb posters, i see that some of the posters anr very nacionalist, please be more polite, we are not here to kill eachother.
And to my fellow Albanians, whey dont you tray to do some changes in our citys, with our municipality, you see how many problems we have, why not critisazing our gouverment that they are not doing nothing, stop with ths status, its not up to us or up to the serbs, someone third is going to impose a solution and give an end to this.
I'm sick of it everything, day by day the situation gets worst.
Tell me please when the Independence comes, what than , what is going to be with people when they see that still the economy didnt change a bit, but the situation gets worst.
Why can some one please tell me why there is so much concentration only to the Independence, why not at the Economy, how can we improve the social life in Kosovo, the status will not resolve all the problems, you know that we have only 700 milions in our budget.
Please wake up, and open your eys.
We just want to live and have a job, and mind our own bussines.

Kate, Encore!

Kostunica knows just as Putin does that the US is weak and is in no position to push it's agenda on Serbian territory. The US have lost this chess game and it is a shame that there is no real leaders in the local Serbian Albanian population to be wise and work on a true compromise that respects international norms and laws. The Serbian Albanians are creating the seeds for economic misery greater then that of the turks in northern cyprus!

"I can see albanian posters are really nervous when Mr. Kostunica has something to say. Because right after they write comments with hate in them. And if he mentions Russia in his statement - then albanianss' blood boils. "

You are very wrong. When we albanians here Koshtunicas speak, we laugh very much. Its very entertiaing. We wonder whether this guy is still living in 90s, and we cannot believe that Serbia has such a PM. At the same time we are happy when Koshtunica speaks becuase it confirms what we have been saying all along - when it comes to Kosovo, Serbia has not changed - hence independence. Koshtunica's speeches also confirm to internationals what albanians have been saying all along, that a considerable percentage (not all) of Serbs live in the past and if they were given the chance they would do the same things again as in 1999.

And when people like you applaud his speeches, we laugh even louder becasue we realise why he is still the PM, and who is voting for him. We laugh because, you fail to see that is Koshtunica and people like you that are harming Serbia.

We albanians thank Koshtunica for promoting the indepence cause.

So Ratko & Koshtunica we ask you to continue your way of thinking and you rhetorics. Thank you.

Kate (pretending non Serb), you said:
“I think that the current tone from Kostunica is quite deliberate, and designed to send the message that Serbia doesn't intend to be passive if territory is taken against her will.”

We can understand that he can’t be passive, as I said earlier in some my comments, they have, as well as international community has, to make a perfect scenario, that Serbian government did all what was possible to prevent Kosovas independence, in order to avoid radicals take the power in Serbia, who actually won the majority of votes in last Serbian elections. I completely agree with you on this matter.
But, anyway this is immature declaration by Serbian prime minister, as UN is never granting independence to any new country in the world, as Toni said. UN can vote pro or contra that country to join UN structures, and voting will be done at the UN General Assembly, not at UN SC, where 5 permanent members have a veto right. What is deem needed by UN SC is invalidation of the SC Resolution 1244, in order to Kosova move forward declaring independence etc. Invalidation of the SC Res. 1244 is scheduled after the postponed talks, more precisely after the December 10th.

I wonder if Albanians are ever going to realise that Europe is changing rapidly and that the tide has already turned against them. The latest polls show that most Germans, French and British trust Putin more than Bush, and overwhelmingly so. The distrust towards Americans is even bigger when it comes to American ideas on democracy. Europeans know very well that the future of Europe is with Russia and China.
One can only imagine where all this leaves our dear Albanians who are probably the only nation in Europe that trust Americans more than anyone else.

If we talk about unilateral step Russia is the one that make this step already very unilaterally when the whole world wanted to vote pro resolution and then Russia unilaterally threaded with veto. python, the constituents respond to current situations while governments make desisions for the future interest of its people. do you really think that eu citizens will enjoy russian commodoties while being threatend to turn of the gas and oil n electricity like they have done, its not how the west play with people or countries, they negotiate. maybe serbia should purchase all from russia and in bad times which they do come as boom or bust and see how russia responds when serbias bills fall due. good luck, beware of russians bearing gifts.

the un might not grant kosovo independance now but it doesnt mean it wont in the future as the un constitution is no different to any other country and defined a vote. having said that un resolution 1244 works both ways maybe it wont grant kosovo independance but it will challenge any threat to kosovo that serbia might be thinking, so they are in a catch 22 situation also. atleast kosovo is protected till independance and then the eu will resume security in kosovo whilst serbia struggles with its options, a russian satalite state or part of the eu.

Kate, why are you refering to serbia as a woman? Why is serbia a her?

Ceku an idiot?

Toni: "God Bless Kosova, God Bless America, God Bless all Albanians in the world, Amen"

God bless Europe, God bless all its people of all faiths and nationalities, and God bless all humans in the world. God does not prefer one people over another - they are judged by deeds not bloodline.

I think that the current tone from Kostunica is quite deliberate, and designed to send the message that Serbia doesn't intend to be passive if territory is taken against her will.

Everything that happens at the moment is part of the bigger plan. It's just a game of chess.

If you comparing the Kostunica's statements with the postings of this forum, one concludes that the postings here are quite elaborated than Serb PM words.
I guess that if Kostunica would write to this forum, most probably B92 staff would block his messages.

PB:
it´s ceku, of course... there´s no way at all that those two men could be compared! one is an intellectual, a constitution-jurist with many years of experience... the other a simple bouncer, one who is standing in front of night-clubs and throwing out the drunks and just...standing outside.

python:
I think you could be right, the USA are on their decline, politically and morally, slowly, but constantly loosing grip on their oversea-projects...

while the Chinese are increasing their good relations with 48 of 53 african states...where they are securing their oil-needs...

not to speak of Russia that is delivering 12 % of the annual oil-needs worldwide...what makes Russia the no.2 country after Saudi Arabia with 13,5 % discharge...

after all, it´s only the Albanians who are overestimating US-american future-possibilities..."the one and only global superpower"... we all know the reasons for that.

desperation.

last but not least:
the UN is still and will very likely stay the only legal body that can handle things like the Kosovo-issue at all.

that´s also something most Albanians avoid to see. also quite understandable.

Bravo Kostunica!

I can see albanian posters are really nervous when Mr. Kostunica has something to say. Because right after they write comments with hate in them. And if he mentions Russia in his statement - then albanianss' blood boils.

I remember when they would say "oohhh ya Russia hahaha who cares about them, they will never use their veto, who cares about Russia we love marti bla bla."

I guess someone does care what Russia thinks!

wow wow wow To: all posters in B92.

Peace to All

Kate, Encore!

Kostunica knows just as Putin does that the US is weak and is in no position to push it's agenda on Serbian territory. The US have lost this chess game and it is a shame that there is no real leaders in the local Serbian Albanian population to be wise and work on a true compromise that respects international norms and laws. The Serbian Albanians are creating the seeds for economic misery greater then that of the turks in northern cyprus!

EVER!

There is no such place and that makes the comment irrelevant.

the serbs of albanian heritage love their pm just like us.

that´s not just good, that shows also that - besides all the trash-talk about indiependence - they do know reality.

What can they do?

Toni, getting independence through the UNSC is the only way, ask the international community. Going through the back door by having countries recognize this independence one by one only puts this new so-called state in their debt forever. Just ask Israel about the Gaza Strip. Avi, what is the benifit of an independent Kosovo in the Balkans & the EU? NONE.

KS: "Kate, why are you refering to serbia as a woman? Why is serbia a her?"

In English a country is always referred to as 'her' if a gender is given at all.

Also, you inferred that I called Ceku an idiot. I have never said this and don't think this (although all politicians behave like idiots at times).

vujadin

pre 16 godina

the wikipedia link KS's posted shows Ceku's only education was in the Yugoslav Military Academy...

no mention of a political science, law or business education...

wow! what a candidate to spawn a political party while violating international law and continuing his business of weapons, people and drug trafficking...

way to pick the best of the breed!

here is another snippet from KS's link...
