peterpaul,
if you try to look better you will find many comments that have positives about Serbian people. Since on this blog there are a lot of Serbs with very radical vews like DSS, or Miloshevich type of thinking, it is logical for an Albanian poster to dislike that.
I also live in US, and as you know things are different here.

"I mean you do know that we're effectively keeping your state off the endangered species list, right? "
To b92
This is really a serious ommision of your editors. "Endangered species" is an attribute for animals that face extinction.
Mike, if you did this deliberately it just shows your true ffelings about other nations. If not, an apology should be more than appropriate.
As far as cooperation is concerned, this is good news for me since it implies that Serbia is looking towards West an not East. And by the way, Kosovo existed long before the USA was created and your implication that it would not exist makes no sense, unless of course, you think you would have nuked it.
But, fortunately I do know a lot of Serbs personally and I know for a fact that you would get your behind kicked by them for implying such a thing.
To Kate,
The cooperation of Serbia with other western countries is of outmost importance for the sake of Serbia itself in the first place, and secondly to the benefit of all its neighbours, including Kosovars or Albanians for that matter. There is nothing wrong for Serbia to prosper in all possible fields. I just hope that reason will prevail fore the sake of us all.

Some of you folks are real characters ...

First of all, it was the Serbian government's decision to cooperate with the USA militarily, not mine. If you have any issues with that, take it up with your own government.

The Russian question is legitimate. You have to wonder how Russia feels about this new cooperation when considering that it is dead set against the involvement of the U.S. in Kosovo.

As for Russia's military might... well, they could not put down Chechnya in their own backyard, nevermind Kosovo. That's as much as I'm going to say about it.

I didn't make any negative remarks about Serbs in my comment. If anything, I thought it was a positive thing that Serbia and the U.S. decided to cooperate in the military field.

I think the fact of a US and Serbia Military partnership worries some that in Kosovo. If not then they would not be speaking of selling there souls. 95 percent of the employees who work on Camp Bondsteel are albanians some who do not even speak english but with connections have a job paying 6 Euros an hour. If B92 publishes these facts i am sure someone will chime in and say it is not true LOL. Anyway cooperation is good, they have been working together a long time since 99 but no one really wanted to admitted it. I have seen Serbian Army personnel dressed in US Army equipement only difference was instead of a M16 or M4 the solider was carrying a AK 74. Face it folks cooperation exist. Albania, Macedonia, Romania and Bulgara contributed to the war on terror where are they now 2 are in NATO and the EU and 2 are knocking on the door step. Cooperation brings forth good things just because we bomb you does not mean we will work with you.

Are you afraid of Russian tanks on the Ibar, Ment? Wouldn't that be poetic justice after NATO's criminal bombing against innocent Serbian civilians? NATO bombed civilians more than they did Serbian military, why? They wanted to make a statement, at the price of innocents. I put my faith in Jesus Christ, not NATO or the EU. They have they forsaken their morals, for profit.

Ment, can you say anything nice about Serbians? You didn't really address my question. You threw it a question, like people without an answer do. Why can't you say something nice about Serbs, Ment? Will it hurt you? They are human beings just like you. Why all the hate? People here didn't do Milosevic's evil. just like the pro-Albanians here didn't commit the crimes of the KLA. Why not just come to an agreement? We had bad people on both our sides. Are not the children of the Balkans more important than Milosevic and the KLA?

JHam

LOL, why can't there be cooperation between the US? Just because they bomb Serbia, means they won't cooperate they bomb Germany and Axis power to bits, Nuke Japan and they have military cooperation with other countries as well other countries that we blasted. So i think that some of us are nervous about cooperation between Serbia and the US. Get over it they have had Special Forces Serbian that in Afganistan. So there is going be military cooperation and i said before don't count on the US like you do guys from Kosovo due. You are going get a bad taste in your mouth and you will be upset.

"some people have no pride, or I should say some countries sell their soul for cash.
(Agim Elshani, 30. August 2007 18:13)"

Um, Agim? Have you realized that without US support, "Kosova" wouldn't even exist? I mean you do know that we're effectively keeping your state off the endangered species list, right? You do know that your government has effectively sold its soul to Washington, and we have the power to give you a state or turn you into the Kurds of Europe? I mean to be perfectly honest, this comment coming from a K Albanian is just slightly ironic.

It should also be known that Serbian/US military collaboration/cooperation (however you want to call it) goes back a long way. Serb mercenaries were employed in America's first overseas war in the Barbary Wars. In 1805 General William Eaton commanded a battalion of Serbs and Greeks under the local command of Serbian Captain Luka Ulović against the Barbary stronghold at Derna and successfully captured the town with the cooperation of twelve U.S. Marines.

I would say be careful about cooperation with the US military, specially if that cooperation means training of your soldiers.

The U.S. military has many examples of great american men and women that have fought to protect the U.S. In fact I do believe the American soldier to be the best in terms of training, professionalism and love for his country. But America has a dismal record as far as training soldiers from other countries.

I am from Latin America, and the worst and our most cruel dictators were graduates of “The School of the Americas”, which was the training ground for “great soldiers” like Manuel Noriega, Anastasio Somoza, Pinochet, and one that is dear to my heart, Leopoldo Galtieri of Argentina who supported the disappearing of many of his countrymen by loading them into helicopters and throwing them alive down into the ocean. They are no called "Los Desaparecidos" or the dissapeared. Our US trained dictators were shown through their actions to be not only cowards, but to have a great disdain toward their own people.

I personally can not put all the blame for all these trash that the US military has trained for us on the Americans. I do believe that we in Latin America have a serious problem with our character that has allowed people so cruel to be our leaders. But I have followed the disintegration of Yugoslavia and I am afraid that Serbians, Spanish and Latin American people have a lot in common, and that makes Serbia, and all of the Balkans, a fertile ground for these kind of American trained dictators.

I guess you started reading this pretty recently. It's safe to say the ratio of abuse in here is 50/50.

In any case, as an Albanian I have no problem at all with these news. If anything, it will make it all the less likely that anything stupid happens in the region... such as a war.

I wonder what Russia has to say about this though ...

If I ever read an Albanian comment that was positive regarding anything to do with Serbia on this site, I think I would faint. Having lived in the US practically my enire life, born in Belgrade after WWII. I guess I just under estimate the hatred Albanians have for Serbs. I don't think the Serbs hate the Albanians as much - not judging by the comments on B92, anyway. All I can say, co-opperation between countries is always a good thing - regardless of their past history. How else can they move forward? Try saying something nice about Serbs, Albanians - you may find that it feels better than hatred.

No, Agim, the US and Serbia want military cooperation, partly because they have to operate together with regard to Kosovo.

I don't call this 'selling your soul'. No more so than the KLA providing a land army for the US to avoid their troops being in the line of fire, or depending on the US completely with regards to their future.

The highest level of cooperation between the US and Serbian military will expose the high level of professionalism among the Serbian officer corps. The US-Serbian relationship goes back 100 years and it is unfortunate that the events of the 1990's derailed them for a while but now it is time to get back on track and strengthen that relationship based on mutual respect and trust.Shalom
