Milan ...

I'd have to assume that anyone who's relocated abroad would have at least informed the immediate family and relatives of his/her whereabouts in the world if for no other reason than to give them peace of mind.

Maybe you know something I don't, but I can't see any obvious benefits to being "dead" in the Balkans while living in the U.S. and Australia. These two countries especially, have some pretty strict immigration/legalization policies after all. People escaping wars usually have a pretty strong chance of being granted asylum.

I think the simpler conclusion is that the majority of the missing are indeed dead.

May they rest in peace.

The missing are already calculated into the dead figures, and even using them the totals are much less than the war propaganda.

In Bosnia they had to use the deaths and missing from all three groups to get a figure less than 1/2 to 1/3 of what the media was claiming back in 1992/1993.

For the Kosovo missing, that includes many Roma and Serbs kidnapped by the KLA - including that which happened when Kosovo was being supervised by UN and KFOR.

Yet even adding the entire missing to all the dead they could find, they don't come anywhere near the 10,000 figure people still claim died in Kosovo.

It is impossible for 10,000 people to have died during the Kosovo war unless you have thousands of people who weren't reported missing by any relatives and that they did die during the war.

Thousands of the missing are Croatian Serbs, Bosnian Serbs and Serbs from Kosovo - many murdered in brutal, heinous manner, as autopsy reports have shown.

Alexander,

View my first post. I did not mention ONE ethnic group and said ex-yugo, yet everyone jumped on me. So now who is mentioning ethnic groups? Furthermore, the responses to me was search serbia for graves and here comes serbs blaming the world for war crimes. Now tell me, what kind of response from me does that warrant? Article states there are missing, I said I bet they are alive in another country.

Alexander, problem with you is I am suppose to feel sympathy for people that are most likely alive! I could be on that list! You are too quick to judge and believe what you read is true. But, with such an anglo name how could I be so surprised to your reaction. Your last sentence basically proves everything. Concentrate on your own news and leave my country alone please. But wait, you probably spent 5 days in the balkans and now think you are an expert on Serbian mindset. That is non-sense!

"Fact, many people counted as dead are living around the world. Does this article say anywhere about relatives searching for family members? I would like to see all 18,000 people looking for their family members. You guys are all so naive and quick to jump on the CNN bandwagon."

What contemptuous nonsense Milan. Firstly, the article is based on a report by the International Committee of the Red Cross and quite obviously not CNN. Secondly, the article, as well as the ICRC report it is based on, do not point fingers at any ethnic, national or religious group with regards to responsibility for these persons having gone missing.

But, rather than show even the slightest bit of sympathy for these missing persons and their families, you demand that somehow 18,000 people turn up at your house to prove to you that they are looking for family members.

Or perhaps the Red Cross have now joined forces with CNN, the CIA, the EU, the UN and the Abominable Snowman to further discredit Serbia/Serbians/Srpska/Serbianity, etc.

What crimes johnny? Oh yeah you are one of those ignorant buffones from the West that says Serbs came into every village with guns while the defenseless muslims didn't have anything on them (except fighters from Iran, Syria, Jordan, etc.). Fact, many people counted as dead are living around the world. Does this article say anywhere about relatives searching for family members? I would like to see all 18,000 people looking for their family members. You guys are all so naive and quick to jump on the CNN bandwagon. Johnny, I'm sure you were there in Prijedor and Knin and Slavonia when everything was going on, weren't you? It's the people that don't talk about it that lost the most. But, according to most of you a Serbian tragedy doesn't matter and Serbs only died in battle. Or better yet, if someone says Serbs died you will justify it by saying how the Serbs are these evil maniacs that killed so many people so it doesn't matter or just keep bringing numbers into it.

Here comes the Serb, blaming the world for crimes committed by the Serbs.
