Does it really matter who burned the house of this man? The point is to find a solution to the troubles of all these families. It is a pitty someone from the Radical Party had to help this person, while he has een waiting for support all these years.
Houses are being built in Kosovo for IDP's who want to return. As for their security situation, it will get better once the status is resolved. However, a dire economic situtation awaits all the returned families, and all the Kosova population in general, which should be the primary problem to overcome by the Kosovo goverment. If these people think they can come back and work as a part of the administration that was installed before 99, they are wrong. They need to find jobs as everyone else here in Kosovo, in other words, stop being victims, and start being citizens. With the government help and their neighbors, I hope.
My sympathies to Krstic family, I hope they have a better future.

All IDPs deserve the right to return to their homes. Barring the return to their original home, the Kosovo government should provide just compensation for a either new house to be built, or funds for the property lost. Serbian refugees should not have to live in squalor like this. Helping these displaced Serbs out would go a tremendous way in adding legitimate credibility to Pristina's commitment to build a multiethnic Kosovo where Serbs are not only welcome, but are seen as integral to Kosovo's citizenry.

Mike, thank you for that link.I am saddened when I read stories like these.
After all the fighting, arguing, promises made by both governments, they forgot what is the most important thing, the life of ordinary people.
I went to Peja/Pec after the war and I saw a lot of families living in tents,no food,no water,no life. But refugees are refugees no matter of nationality, religion and I feel sorry for this family as it brings me back the picture of Peja/Pec in 1999 when nobody could believe what happened to their lives!
Hopefully He will get some answers and soon he and his family will stop the hunger strike and hopefully they will have a better home soon.
Best Wishes!

The houses were burned down after the KLA and NATO took over.

One wonders about the "right to return" which the international community is always claiming isn't allowed for the Serbs.

The Albanians were very systematic in their cleansing of Serbs in the so-called "peace" - and the fact that over 8 years later they can't go back is testimony to ethnic cleansing.

And yes as an earlier poster said NATO did bomb houses and mosques too one can tell from the damages, but they blame Serbs in those cases.

As for Victor, it was the Albanian separatists who launched the war - they initiated the murders and violence for their cause. Before the KLA there was no ethnic killings - far less murders than in New York or probably even Canada.

The KLA purposely provoked the police by mining roads, kidnapping Serbs, and murdering Serbs and Albanians who did not go along with their aims.

Facts:

2 Houses burned down.
Don't know who did it
Belgrade promised new home
9 years later, nothing

Before you say the Kosovar's did it, please check your facts. This could have been done by a NATO air-strike or by protests in 03/2004, even by serb military to leave a mark of 'ethnic cleansing' towards the serbs.

These people need to return to Kosova ASAP, they are not wanted in Serbia proper. They are harrased and called siptars. They have a better chance of survival under protection of KPS, KFOR, civilian army (serbs) than from poverty in Belgrade.

Mike

Sad. Too long have the K Serbs been seen as symbols of politics than actual people. Their poverty and displaced misery serves the interests of Belgrade politicians, but there is little help that has been done for them, save giving them a roof over their heads. Aren't there any civic charity organizations in Serbia to help these people out?

I do not understand that the Serb Gov. had money to launch a war against Kosovo, and destroyed 100s of villages, and 1000s of houses, and have no money to rebuild the villages and the houses, and resettle both Albanians and Serbs in the villages they lived all their life.

I undesrtand also that the prerequisite before building houses is to define once and for all the status of the province Kosovo.

There is so much to be done and there is so little achieved by the Serbian Gov.

Afrim Hoxha,

two of his houses were burned down in Kosovo. Under the circumstances, do you honestly expect him to feel 3rd time lucky?

Hey afrim.

How about the albanians who took over this man's property leave and go back to where they came from? So this man can return to his land and live in peace.

Why did the albanians destory his house? Did they pay him for his property? NO!

Afrim Hoxha

This case shows how much does the Kostunica government care for serbs from Kosova.
I hope that some serb "patriots" here who live abroad such in UK EU or USA, see this case and understand that the intentions of Kostunica are not to help the people who need help but just to manipulate with them so they can stay more in power.

If this person has not done any crimes in Kosova, he should go back there where there are houses being built for all the serb minorities and great help given for everything.
Thank you.
