First of all... if anything, I would have expected Radko to respond rather than you, but since you picked up the flag, here it goes:

Even though the concept has not gotten through to some, Serbia owns Kosovo in paper only.... it has been that way for a long time now. The only time Serbia dominated Kosovo was for a few years in the late 80-s and 90-s and all that resulted was bloodshed with the local population rather than a clampdown on crime.

In the mean time, corruption and organized crime is just as badly entrenched in Serbia as in the neighbouring areas.
You can argue semantics with me here, but what I said about "fix your house first" is actually correct. Even in the theoretical possibility that Kosovo should remain part of Serbia under a broad autonomy agreement, the province will at the very least have its own police force.

As for the "Greater Albania" foolishness, you're accusing the wrong person here. In a different post ("Pristina's reaction to the Dutch FM") I was suggesting something entirely different.

Canadien

Ment said > "Ratko Your displays of biggotry and lack of common sense are stunning at times.

Serbia will rid Kosovo of organized crime? You ever heard of the expression "fix your own house first before trying to fix someone else's"?"

In fact Mister you would do well to note that Kosovo is Serbia's house and that the Americans should tend to their own house the USA before being too worried about Serbia's! How foolish you sound when you talk as if Kosovo is part of greater Albania!

Speaking of censoring, B92 has edited a few of my comments.... and I'm Albanian. So the Serb posters here are not necessarily being discrimanated against, like a few of them claimed.

Luciano...

Funny you mentioned Non-Jewish Israeli citizens (Arab etc). There was a documentary about them recently and just about every single one of them complained of being treated as a second class citizens. They were discriminated against when it came to jobs, housing, and a whole host of other things. Granted that's nowhere close to how K. Albanians were treated by the Serbs, but even in Israel they were hardly happy folk.

Ratko

Your displays of biggotry and lack of common sense are stunning at times.

Serbia will rid Kosovo of organized crime? You ever heard of the expression "fix your own house first before trying to fix someone else's"?

I'm not sure if you know this, but the Serbian organized crime was often supplying the KLA with weapons during the Kosovo conflict...

Hey Pete i am being quite but you have others like Ahmet who runs his mouth about independence and this has been going on all year about the parites and inviting everyone. I am surprised he would bring up the work Kari, did i use that word in a deregortory forum or to refer to anyone no. He should be out working to better kosovo instead talking out of his nose. His rhectoric only influence others to stand there ground and wait well wait for the bus that is never coming. I hope all these promises the politicans are making will come true. If this is posted i won't use Kari anymore in the post because i think this is a Serbian site and the MODs have seen fit to produce a English version to promote English language and for us to better our communication skills. Can someone post a website that is based in Kosovo and is up to date that has an english forum? I sure have not found one that is free and you don't have to suscribe to read entire article(kosovapress charges you to read the articles if in English) that is why i read B92 to see what is going in Serbia. If i offended anyone by using the word Kari i apologize and won't use it again. I have respect everyone here but not for those who choose to boast about his position when they don't have leg to stand on.

Ahmet: "If you are in Kosova just look around you and you can see that you are in the middle of Albania."

LOL, far-fetched. You are in middle of Dardania.

B92 rarely checks serb camp posts. I read a post about some guy saying a bomb should be dropped on a civilian train (Kosovar-Albanian one), wrote b92 about it, they never took it off. Saw a poster about ethnic cleansing of Kosova, wrote B92, still nothing.

If I merely said the words "idiot", "lunatic", "criminal", B92 would remove the whole posts.

Also sometimes I notice some of my posts are missing a paragraph (thanks to b92).

I just don't understand how the Serbian people think they have a chance at keeping Kosovo. The majority of the population wants independence, Serbia has had no control whatsoever (with exception to influence in the north) since 1999 and the only supporter you have is Russia.

On the other hand, a UN envoy proposed supervised independence with US and EU backing.

You think international law will have you keep Kosovo an autonomous province against the will of 2 million people, against what the UN proposed, against the support of the world's superpower?

I don't get it
Time will tell I guess

Remember, when NATO bombs fell in Serbia, they weren't approved by the UNSC. And Russia, well they had to sit and watch.

Ratko and Jovan,
I belive www.B92.net is a site that started with Mr. Veran Matic who since the begining of Milosevic era was against his policies and has always, to the likes of many peoples, myself included, been fair and balanced and has reacted with great intelligence to any extreme nationalism with anull.
There are so many other places on Internet to go to, but that is the reason that I personally come here, because I ADMIRE their courage to report truthfully from news to blogs etc.
My hat of to B92 and Veran matic and their great staff.
Serbia should be like B92.
There you have it. L E A R N.
And for you guys to say that this is a Serbian site, be ashame of yourselves. B92 is an Independent Media group.
I hope it always stays Independent!
I know you dont like this word, but that's just the way it is.

What does Kosovo want with independence anyway? Any evidence it would be a viable state? Be careful what you wish for, you might get it...

Hopefully this is the end of this independence nonsense. The US (my country) has as much right to give Kosovo to the Albanians as Serbia has to give an American state to Mexico.

I guarantee you Bush couldn't find Kosovo or Serbia on a map, he's being jerked around by some Clinton-holdovers in the State Department. The GOP was extremely opposed to Clinton/NATO's bombing of Serbia, and more now are speaking out about the idiocy of Bush following down the trail of Clinton's disastrous Balkans policy.

Now the Emperor is desperately trying to regain his magic by playing it safe.

I'll tell you where the money came from - beacuse of your regime (Milosevic) over 400 000 albanian left kosovo in the 90s - almost every family had somebody who migrated in Europe (personaly my two uncles and my aount went to UK). and these 400 000 people would send 70% of their wages to their families in Kosovo, and thats how albanians survied during Milosevic. Thats were the money came from. And during the 90s were the prices in Kosovo were much lower compared to Europe(unlike today) a 1000 deutch marks would go long way.

You are suggesting that albanians got their money from drugs even before 1999. Why did the serbian police not stop this? Are you suggesting that they were involved as well? And if your argument againts independecne is that Kosovo is a drug trafficking route, then why should Kosovo remaining within Serbia since as you claim, albanians were drug dealing even when Serbia had control of Kosovo?

If USA and EU bombed Serbia without Russia agreement then what it would stop them to recognize independence of Kosova right now? But one thing is for sure that these declarations about partition of Kosova are just food for convincing Russia that there is no better solution then Ahtisaris plan which in matter of fact is not good for us Albanians neither because under that plane we will not be able to even call our selves Albanians but since the democratic world asked as to create multiethnic country then we agreed on that even if this plan gives more right minorities in Kosova then majority but that is Ok under Kosova state everybody will be equal no matter what ethnicity they are. Another thing is that Ahtisaris plan is very clearly related to the USA and EU goals in creating multiethnic countries where every bodies rights are respected and in this case if USA and EU kick this plan out of future solution then they acting self destructively, in this case they will accept any Russian plan which goal is always in creating big Slavic countries in order to gain control over certain regions in Europe and I am pretty sure that this will not happen because one of the reasons why USA bombed Serbia was exactly this to keep Russia away from Europe. So when you calculate all options Ahtisaris plan is the best one even for Serbia because if they go with any solution like partition of Kosova then Serbia will lose East Kosova (Presheva&Bujanovc&Medvegje) which is very important gjeostrategic part of Serbia. So the best solution again is Ahtisaris plan not for Albanians but for Serbs yes because this plane will save other 90% of Serbs in the "Albanian part of Kosova" otherwise they have only 2 hours to pack their bags and leave for the north or Serbia.

God Bless Kosova, God Bless America, God Bless all Albanians in the world, Amen

I read this as being a direct result of Vuk's walkout and Marrti's self-important stance in pushing his own plan (which he is still even trying to do here - he can't help himself).

He has clearly been told to back off and not support the idea that Ceku seems to hold that if they just sit passively in the current negotiations they can declare independence at the closure on Dec 10 and have it supported.

I see this as a bid to try and get the Albanian side to take these talks seriously, and a message that a solution needs to be found which can be legitimate and acceptable to both parties.

This also very much ties in with other reports today.

I dont understand why all the serbian camp is so happy about. Of course that Ahtisaari do not like unilateral indipendence. Its normal. That would mean:
1. no restrictions for Kosova to join Albania,
2.less rights for serb minority that his plan was offering,
3.no supervised independence, meaning, albanians will do whatever they think its fit without asking for European approval.
So practically you guys have 2 options his plan or unlilateral independence. If I was you I would go and kiss Mr. Ahtisaari's feet and wish his plan would go through.

You let people like Ahmet make derogatory remarks and say whatever they please, however, when a Serb wants to express the realty without degrading anyone, you don't allow it. Whatever became of free expression? As long as it's not inflamatory or offensive it should not be prohibited. I don't know why you are putting words in my mouth.

The drug trafficking you are referring to has boomed and became transit central since NATO entered KiM in 1999. This is why albanians didn't like Serbs, because they couldn't do all their criminal activity with Serbs in power.

But don't worry, because when we return to KiM we will get rid of all the criminals for you, since you refuse to do it. (Just like in Israel)

I agree to Pauls statement about B92´s censorship-conduct.
it´s sad to see how those "journalists" exercise the right to decide what "can be posted" and what not...
they haven´t got the meaning "free expression".

as to the old finn: he´s out, there is no reason to listen to his words any more.
althoug I agree to the line where he says the boasting about unilateral declarations is "premature"...
he´s not the person who should tell us NOW what anything about maturity, since he hasn´t shown it while being within the process of arbitration towards a compromise, he simply didn´t understand what is task was.

Hopefully this is the end of this independence nonsense. The US (my country) has as much right to give Kosovo to the Albanians as Serbia has to give an American state to Mexico.
