Joe! Are you joking?

"I worked in Germany for years and knew a lot of Germans, who were brutaly driven out of the former German territories."

Oh! Poor Germans. The Polish people brutally drove them from their homes, towns and villages. They even drove them from Auschwitz, Treblinka and Majdanek.

After almost 6 years of Nazi occupation, after killing 250,000 peoples in three months during Warsaw Uprising and burning to the ground 80% of Warsaw. After extermination of almost all Polish Jews, they were brutally driven out.

First of all not Polish people drove them out but Russian. Second, Russian have a right to do it as a victorious power. Third, other powers, USA and Great Britain accepted it.

Those who were driven out should be very thankful that they were not placed in concentration camps.

Joe, better stay away from polemic on this subject.

Joe

pre 16 godina

Zbyszek,
How did it happen that you did not do your ethnic cleansing in Opole? I worked in Germany for years and knew a lot of Germans, who were brutaly driven out of the former German territories. Apparently you were not very efficient in Opole.

Zbyszek

pre 16 godina

"Also please try to stay away from polemic. Read Dino's response."

Joe, is it warning or suggestion? You could say it to anybody comments on this forum. I have red Dino's response and it seems that he red all this links.
Substance of the links was not important. Important was just that respected agencies agreed that Prishtina is Serbia. This is a legal situation as it is now.

"in practical terms Serbia is not controlling Kosovo for 8 years anymore.... just like Poland is not controlling the former Eastern Poland, now part of the Ukraine and Belarus."

And in both cases it was forced by foreign powers. Not by Ukrainians in case of Poland and not by Albanians in case of Kosovo. It is possible that there will be another Yalta and Kosovo would be divided.

But as you said Poland got the part of former Germany. What are you going give for Serbia? Also guess what would happen in near future if a small German majority in, for example Opole, which is minority in Poland declare independence. Perhaps you do not see it, or you do not want to see it but "Drang nach Osten" is not dead.

AHTISARI is realy anti-European. So, congratulations to the mr Serbian minister. At least his move can force some EU politicians to think twice before make decision.

Joe

pre 16 godina

Zbyszek,
Fortunately it is not you to decide either.
Also please try to stay away from polemic. Read Dino's response.
Just one more thing: in practical terms Serbia is not controlling Kosovo for 8 years anymore....just like Poland is not controlling the former Eastern Poland, now part of the Ukraine and Belarus. You lost it but got richer German territories for it. So you were much luckier.

And while we all argue 'If we do have that prospect -- that prospect of imminent belonging -- then everything changes,' Vuk Jeremic told a conference on EU enlargement and integration in the northern Slovenia mountain resort of Bled. I am not sure what this everything that will change is, but this statement awfully resembles to Kosovo for EU membership. Any thoughts out there?

(Jovan, 27. August 2007 17:44)

The Pro Independence would just like for you (reader and commenter) to be more open minded and considerate of other peoples feelings.

It's hard to read responses by serbian camp claiming that 1999 never happened, etc. Please be wiser and stop blaming the atrocities committed by your government [executed by solidiers and police] never exist. It is hard to see news about archbishops blessing these 'holy fighters' and read bigottry comments when some of us lost family, friends, and it has touched our lives. That's the different between a Kosovar comment and a one coming from a commenter such as Kate who don't regard human life over 'official fact' (Kosovo province of Serbia).

Bob Petrovich

pre 16 godina

I am anxious to learn how EU intends to allegedly enlarge without having EU Constitution being adopted first, because Nice agreement used instead of non-existing EU Constitution does not allow any further EU enlargement.

As it is now, EU enlargement is all smoke, no substance. Andreas Zobel, German Ambassador to Serbia has expressed it bluntly-Serbia can expect to enter EU in 20 years, even if then. Mr. Zobel had the moral fortude to tell the facts as they are.

But this legal obstacle was not an obstacle to assemble formidable troupe at Bled - a person falsely introduced as "UN envoy", a Prime Minister of non-existing country, executive director of George Marschall Fund branch office lecturing on EU enlargement, something U.S. has no say about.

It seems that Bled was chosen on purpose - a lot of natural resource for the fog merchants running the show.
Perhaps they should invite Josipa Lisac to sing "Magla" as an anthem.

Hey Zbysezk; What does Dubrava escapees have to do with this article/ By the way did you guys found out where Ramadan Shti was born in Saudi Arabia s you serb camp claimed that he was a Saudi born and he was kicked out of his own country. What a farce. I gave you guys all details about this guy and where he was born including fatyer name and everything else. Also I challenged everybody to verify the said information with UNMIK nad anybody else they can think of. I speak the facts and not fiction. I am also suprised that b92 did not come out and admit that they printed false story about this guy being a Saudi Born citizen.
Getting back to the article, this is what happens when you have a child assigned as a Head of household and in this case I am talking about the young VUK JEREMQI. I wonder if Lady Rice will ever have a chat with this imature kid.

On every summit, meeting or strategic forum organized on the highest level there is a protocol that is followed and invited guests are required to follow. This forum in Slovenia is no different. The opening night is not a place for discussions, arguments and counter arguments. On this night the host invites few people to address all the attending guests and a dinner is served for that occasion. Having this in mind Mr. Jeremic's request to replicate in the opening night was immature and against any common political wisdom and not to mention agains the protocol, against the rules. Mr. Jeremic should be reminded that he was not in a flee market somewhere in Sumadije or Raska where he can say whatever he wants and whenever he likes it. If he wants to say his counter arguments he will have a chance on the next day when the forum discussions start.

Considering the number of countries attending this forum, its purpose and Ahtisaari's presence one can easily guess what is the official EU stance with regards to Kosovo. This is a clear indication (for all of you who still have doubts) that EU doesn't see Kosovo being ruled by Serbia again. Nevertheless, this action and similar ones done by the Serb government officials are just another list of actions in the line of obstructions similar to the ones of Milosevic era, where Western envoys and diplomats were left bitter and fooled by immature acts of the Serb counterparts (we all remember Serb delegation during the Rambouillet talks). The next phase of Kosovo discussions has started and Mr. Jeremic goes out publicly and claims that Serbia does not have a negotiating team set yet since it does not know about what it is going to negotiate in Vienna, furthermore he adds that negotiations have not started yet! How serious this minister is? Or, better yet do common Serb citizens know who is representing them?

For nearly two years there is so much activity and calamity in the Serb political scene about the status of Kosovo and Ahtisaari's package, and Mr. Jermic has the guts to claim the Serb government does not know what the Vienna discussions are about! This is all reminiscent of the attitude Serb officials had towards the negotiations led by Ahtisaari and any other negotiation in which they participated thus far since the breakup of Yugoslavia. It is a repeat of the same old tactics taken from the Milosevics play book. When you consider that over the weekend Mr. Kostunica claimed the US's support for Ahtisaari plan is hindering negotiations it becomes remarkably clear where Serb politicians are headed with this rhetoric. Add to this the fact that until present day, and this is despite nearly two years of talk about Kosovo status, Serbia has not produced not one single document detailing a possible solution to the Kosovo issue, it is clear that Serbia has no intention to solve this issue and does not know what to do with Kosovo if it remains within Serbia's jurisdiction. Again and again, as in the past, Serb political elite is building the foundation for blaming the West for its own failures and as Ahtisaari put it best: "the international community has to close this chapter where history has been used to stir up hate and violence".

Ratko

I don't think it can get any more biased. Jeremic is denied to speak just because he is a Serb, and agim was not even on the list but he gets invited by his dear friend marti?

DinoA: "Kosovo it's not his country, it never was."

This just isn't the case in legal terms. Whether you believe it is right or wrong, Kosovo is still a province of Serbia. Facts are facts.

DinoA

pre 16 godina

Zbyszek, what has your stream of articles to do with my comment?!

If you don't understand, then allow me to explain what I meant. I was saying that Jeremic and his political clan, never treated Kosovo and its population as one would treat their country and people. Yes, Kosovo is still leagly part of Serbia and international community's efforts are directed precisely to break this last link, as you so eagerly wanted to point out with your articles. Personally I am a strong proponent of the independence but one cannot help but notice the weakness in which Serbian government has pursued this issue. It seems to me that your politicians, just like you, are blinded by their blood in their heads and cannot control their actions. You keep saying, "stealing the land and stealing our history " like we are talking about a road bike left unattended on the side of the road.

DinoA

pre 16 godina

"This just isn't the case in legal terms. Whether you believe it is right or wrong, Kosovo is still a province of Serbia. Facts are facts."

Yes Kate, I am not denying that. This is the last link that ties Kosovo to Serbia, and breaking this link is the entire issue. Discarding a piece of paper 1244 its much easier than forcing 2 million people back into their humiliation. I know you think differently but I guess some people cannot see beyond nationalistic glasses.

Hermon

I belive that the only reason why he wasnt allowed to reply to Ahtisaari was because Kosova was not the main topic of the meeting and if everyone would start to reply than the attention would be dislocated from the main topic which was the enlargment of EU.

Dragan

pre 16 godina

Vuk did the right thing. When they allow a failed diplomat, whose greater albania plan has been dead for a long time now, to speak, and then don't allow the foreign minister of the country which he is speaking about to respond, leaving was the strongest possible message. That message is, Kosovo is ours, not yours. So shut it, ahtisaari, you are no longer relevant.

Ratko

PRISTINA, Serbia: The European Union's envoy

PRISTINA, Serbia (Reuters) - The United Nations wants an independent inquiry into Kosovo's top-security Dubrava prison after seven inmates -- including convicted murderers and terrorists -- escaped with the help of their guards.

PRISTINA, Serbia: The European Union has a responsibility to search for a permanent solution to the crisis in Kosovo, Portugal's foreign minister said Wednesday.

PRISTINA, Serbia (Reuters) - The European Union must recognize Kosovo's independence from Serbia by early 2008

DinoA

@Kate "And so he should. If he's kept quiet through being told he can't speak about matters concerning his own country, then at least he can make a non verbal statement about it"

Kosovo it's not his country, it never was. Has he ever been in Kosovo? Has he ever apologizes to K-Albanians for crimes committed in the name of Serbia people? He has no right to talk about the decision that will set more than 2m people free from their oppressor. It cannot be more obvious that no-one, even in a local event such as this, listen to what Serbia has to say anymore. Serbia never came with a clear plan to show their commitment to integrate Albanians into their state as equal citizens, even for the sake of the argument. This is the shortsighted view that Vuk and his friend have exercised during all this time, and this is the price they will pay.

And in both cases it was forced by foreign powers. Not by Ukrainians in case of Poland and not by Albanians in case of Kosovo. It is possible that there will be another Yalta and Kosovo would be divided.

This is the shortsighted view that Vuk and his friend have exercised during all this time, and this is the price they will pay.

james

pre 16 godina
