Joe, you nationalist American, be careful what you say or I'll send the Serbian air-force to bomb your country and arrest you for incetement to ethnic-cleansing against Luciano. Kidding of course, but just think a moment how it feels to have the boot on the other foot?

Albania was the only country in the Balkans to have a higher Jewish population after World War II than before it.

For some factual information, please read:

luciano,

You as an American Jew showed until now nothing but hatred in your postings toward our country the US. I have many Jewish friends, who love this country and are very loyal to it. You seem to be a rare exception. Is it because of your Serbian roots? Whatever the reason it is your decision or problem. You should however be logical with yourself. Leave this great democratic country for Serbia, Israel or Russia if you feel so miserable.
Shalom to all people of good will.

Historical revisionism is the main problem here in the Balkans. The former comment is a prime example of nationalism coupled with revisionism. Albanians allied themselves with the Nazis in WWII..tell me how then did the Albanians save the Jews? The total amount of Jews in that area were small and the Albanians were more than willing to accomodate the Bulgarians who took over parts of Macedonia and Kosovo. The Jews there were on the infamous trains from Bitola to Auschwitz. My source is Lucy Dawidowicz and her book "The War against the Jews".
I agree that those Jews saved by anyone should be very greatful. The Serbs did save some Jewish lives. However like in all occupied countries of the time many were sent to their deaths as well. The Serbs never freely gave in to the Germans and out of all the Balkan people that deserves a lot of credit.

Hey
I thought the comments made on the WWII and Jewish issues stem as a result of the old balkanic primitivism. I follow the comments but never so far encountered a fair judgment rather than pieces of serbian ethno-ruralism. Albanians have the purest record on saving the jews (above 90%), serbians have somewhat lower figures but on the whole distinguishable. Facts are saints, the people that exterminated jews were led by hate and propaganda. It is time to learn from history

I wonder if these Jewish people will visit Kosovo Albanians, Albanians in Albania, and the Croats that ran the concentration camps for the Nazi's, and thank them too. The evil of WWII is slowly being exposed. No matter how hard the responsible governments try and hide it, it will come out. Take the Jewish delegation to jasenovac, and ask them for their remarks.

The Jewish people owe a great debt to the Serbian people for the help that Serbs have given us and I thank you for being the most tolerant Balkan people when it came to Jewish issues.Tears have flowed from the eyes of some of my people when they recounted Serb help and any Albanian or Bosnian or Croat who says otherwise has no right to talk on behalf of what every Jew knows to be the reality.Shalom and Zivila
