lollee, I am indeed ready to live by those policies. If we look at the IMF and World Bank stuff... we see that they produce more misery than well being. We have seen these policies create huge problems in Latin America, the ex-Soviet Union and Asia. They are not good policies and in the end end up protecting money, not people. These policies help corporations.

I have never met a Serb in Illinois who hates Serbia. On the contrary, it seems to me that many of them are overly patriotic to the extent of even displaying pictures of the psychiatrist and the general. All societies have their members who are better off financially than others but this in no way determines completely who lives a more meaningful life. There are many people who are rich but who are nonetheless alcoholics, drug addicts and manic depressives-LOL

right on luciano!!! It is exactly those in the diaspora especially in your home state that live high of the hog but hate the country that has given them everything. Isn't it ironic that Mr. Lazar obviously lives outside of Serbia but is advocating a policy which he is unwilling to himself live by. Talk about the hipocrasy...

Those who have received their economic training at the Groucho Marx School of Economics only embarrass themselves when they engage in economic dissertations based on disproven theories.Social spending by governments is not in itself a bad practice but where is the revenue for this social spending suppose to materialize from? You need private enterprises which are productive and prosperous in order for a government to raise tax revenues to fund its budget. How tax revenues are allocated is a political decision and should be for the welfare of as many people as possible so if your government chooses to allocate a large part of its revenue on social programs then that is fine and dandy.Private enterprise is in tune with human nature which is based on self-interest first and foremost with a larger good developing out of this.A prosperous Serbia is a good thing for Serbs.Just look at how many diaspora Serbs have prospered in somebody else's country including the governor of my home state.Shalom

Western Economic advisors, especially from the IMF and World Bank, condemn public spending. Luciano, an offspring of that teaching would agree that we should do what these bad institutions recommend to do. I say no. We should finance our poor. We are different from them... we do not want to increase unemployment by sending our jobs to China or places with cheaper labor... we like socialism and it is just a matter of time until we go back to it, unless of people get influenced by the Western propaganda of riches of the free market, which actually destroys 'cause we can not compete with the huge corporations.
