Zoran, I agree that in principal, yes Serbia should invest in the best missle air defence system but reality is a completely different thing here. The army is in need of such reforms that buying anything rightnow is tough. In Southern Serbia they are living on a bean and bread diet. The most important and realistic change for the army to make is to first of all create a leaner more efficient fast deploy service. Right now the structure is that of the old JNA , full of officer figure heads who want their luxury apartments in Belgrade.

I agree with Zoran, don't worry the air force will get a major face lift much like the entire armed forces.

New aircraft are planned, Mig-21's and J-22 will be withdrawn soon.

G-4's are still pretty good aircraft and will remain. We mainly need fighter aircraft.

Best choices are --
Russian Mig-35 and Su-27/30

One thing is for certain Serbia has damn good pilots, among the very best in Europe and World, they do very well with what they got.

Those are MiG 21's in the photo if I am not in error. Serbia should invest in the latest Russian missile air defence systems which are arguably the best in the world instead of keeping outdated fighters. Missile systems are much cheaper/less maintenance and very effective. Only large rich countries can afford up to date, large Air Forces. Serbia should therefore concentrate on having the best fighters MIG/SU 35's but only a handful, no need for more.
