Its funny how this kind of news really never make the headline. In recent years there have been lots of findings of communist mass graves all over what used to be the east side of the wall. However none of this seems to be news.

Princip, I've heard of that book. My father was one of the "Volkdeutsche", born in Kocevje, or as we call it Gottschee. The entire German settlement that lived there for over 600 years had to move after the war, first because that part of Slovenia was given over the Italians after the 1941 invasion, and second because the lands Hitler promised them were taken from Slovenian farmers. In the end, the Partisans drove everyone out and turned large areas of the surrounding countryside into mass grave sites. We went back there last summer and saw the ruins of his village, which is almost completely overgrown. On our way we saw many leftover Partisan monuments attesting to the "defending the homeland" against all enemies and collaborators, including German farmers.

Reading this post prompted me to do some research on the topic of mass graves in Slovenia following WWII.
I conclude that Harry Truman was correct when he said, “The only thing new in the world is the history we don’t know”.

In my opinion, the most recent civil war in the former Yugoslavia was a continuation of WWII.

You should know that History never tell lies about events and facts. History tells us about what Hitler did and the SS, about what happened in Stalingrad. Later, historians will write about the war the Serbs waged on his neighbours in Bosnia and Croatia, and what happened in Omarska and other concentration camps where innocent were killed, and villages where women and children were barricaded and burned alive.

The lesson of truth is there but some such as (Ida and yourself) choose to deny it especially with regards to contemporary events!

Victor and Lollee,

lessons of history are never learnt if one never knew the full truth and instead choose to believe the lies others invented as history.

Would recommend you read "Kocevje: Tito's Bloodiest Crime" by Boris Karapandzic in 1958.

Many of these were Serb anti-communists, civilians and soldiers, who were also sent back to Yugoslavia after they had escaped Tito's forces.

Tito's main enemy were the Chetniks and he had to squash them to get control of Serbia and Yugoslavia. British and Americans greatly supplied him with weapons and bombed for his side. Many of the bombs were directly targeting Serbs' homes and apartments.

Victor I knew you would react in such a fashion since a few of these 15,000 victims were Nazi collaborating Ustache!! My sympathy goes out to all those innocent victims killed unjustly by Tito's partisans. Notice the operative word innocent!!

«They were taken prisoner and executed shortly after the war was over, in May and June 1945. »

And 50 years later, Mladic ordered the execution of 8000 boys and men from Srebrencia.

History is supposed to teach us something but it seems that some 'humans' never learn!
