Wait a minute...hold everything. I really do hope that Indian investment is not code for "sweatshop." I don't give a rat's behind if India's economy is strong, because 95%-99% of Indians don't see this so-called prosperity.

As for Serbia allying with the likes of China and India and rejecting the EU, that's just plain wrong. We have nothing in common with these people and the only reason they invest with us is because they would do anything to keep in contact with any European country. I think we should just buy the cheap from China/India like everyone else in the world does, but we shouldn't be close friends with them. I'd stick with Russia, Greece, and the rest of Europe instead.

What Albanian said that Serbia is going nowhere and will be among the poorest countries in the World? I don't see major investors from China, India, Russia and yes even the USA all top indstrial countires lining up to invest in Albania, never mind Kosovo!

The reality is that Serbs have a proficiency for I.T. and are amongst the most talented in the world in the field. Last year, Microsoft opened a new centre in the country so this move would not surprise me at all. Don't be surprised if Serbia is the centre of European IT in 20 years from now- they have the talent and the investments are on the way. In a couple of decades Croatia and Slovenia will be kicking themselves.

The reason that India is interested in locating this project here is BECAUSE of Serbia's proximity to the EU and its path to joining. There is no dilemma for Serbia as it seeks to export to ALL markets.Nobody buys goods in any market for political reasons but for their price and quality.Once Serbia actually joins the EU then you will have a bonanza of capital flowing in from all corners of the world.Capital knows no borders.

Eastern nations (India, Russia, China) have become (and more so in the near future) the primary drivers of the world economy. Serbia has much to gain from a close relationship with these new superpowers, who by the way never bombed them or invaded or occupied Serbia and now support them in their drive for territorial integrity.

In any evil there is a grain of good. Serbia should learn from Tito's era when juggling between two power blocks provided cash flow.

Serbia should strive to become "EU outside of EU" as soon as possible, to have identical legal and economic framework for seamless off-shore operation of EU-based companies, but without EU's ridiculous "cucumber rules", draconic export taxation and iron-clad Bruxelles grip. History has shown that Serbia can not be ruled from Istanbul, Berlin, Vienna, Berlin or Moscow, it is not very likely that Bruuxelles
is a good match. Pivotal countries require different approach.

Of course that emerging India or China are wiser alternative. A look over the fence in Bulgaria or Romania can be good for insight what is in the EU store.

The odds in this numbers game are clear: Among "The Golden Billion", EU present less than 30%.

It is high time for Serbia to convert loss into gain and start using comparative advantage.
