If the protesters didn't go beyong police barricades, there would not have been a reason for UN forces to respond. What gives these protestors the right to break the law? No one knows at that moment how far these protestors will go. RESPECT THE LAW and you will have no problems. Why is that concept so hard to understand?

When you break the law in violent action in you be met with a similar response. I also applaud the actions of the Romanians and UN on that day.

I was serving with US KFOR at that time and let me tell you MSD has had KFOR spun up many a time due to their aggressive activities.

My understanding is the rubber bullets that were used were way past their expiration date and this caused them to harden and become more lethal. If there is blame to be laid anywhere its with whoever was in charge of maintain the rubber bullet supply.

Rubber bullets may not be ideal, but they are far better then real bullets in controlling crowds.

The fact is we are living in a post 2004 situation, a time when riots did get incredibly out of control. As brutal as it may seem, I do support taking non-lethal action in order to quell violent protests in Kosovo at this point in time. Just as stun guns sometimes turn lethal, its still better in the majority of cases to using a gun or billy club to subdue someone.

Until the status is resolved, I highly recommend refraining from violent protests.

nikshala,

The two Albanins who lost their loves were not innocent. Rioting on the streets threatening the safety of people is a crime. I applaud NATO's for putting down that riot. It is indeed unfortunate that two people lost their lives but had NATO not reacted they way they did their would have been a lot more lost lives.

They killed innocent people and that will reflect at the next situation when force will be really needed. Now, UNMIK police have no legitimacy to use force and they will hesitate when (SErb) lives will be at risk. Then we'll see what you raso will have to say.

There is nothing hilarious on the loss of innocent lives.

Blacky, did you think Milosevic's actions on Kosovo were hilarious?

The irony is hilarious. The Serbs are gone, but the UN is doing a good job at making up for that. The Albanians will soon turn on their friends, the UN. It's only a matter of time until they get sick of this injustice too.
