The Croats have embarrassed themselves in the eyes of Europe and I hope enough Europeans are disgusted enough to tell them so.Shalom

Victor, you always have an excuse for the Croats behavior. When there is no excuse, you usually point the finger at the Serbs and blame them for everything under the sun. When you cannot find an excuse for Croats’ behavior and the Serbs cannot be blamed, you conveniently avoid posting on the topic at hand. Victor, where are you?

What is everybody complaining about? If Germany has not made an explicit apology to the Serbian people for what it did against them during the Second World War, then what makes you think that their client state - back then and now in the modern day - is going to feel any remorse? Germany pays pensions to Ustashe and you don't get members of the Bundestag questioning that primarily because the general public in Germany is not aware of what its forces did against the Serbs during the War. No apology to the Serbs = no remorse.

The problem is not so much with these pro-Ustashe, listening to some vacuous, trashy excuse for music and stewing in their own poison, but the real problem lies with Croatia's sponsors, Germany, who do not fully face up to their past, and who do little, if anything to atone for it. Where is Germany to complain about this? Nowhere, because they don't face up to their own past on this specific subject.

Shame on Croats, they really are not ashamed about this. It almost seems that till this day they feel like it is ok to kill Serbs, Jews and Roma, no wonder Serbs fought so in the Yugoslav wars. Who would want to live in such a state, where hate symbols and hate speech is tolerated by the government to the point that it is aired on TV. SHAME SHAME SHAME. Even more shame to the mass media for not reporting this, if it was Serbs doing this it would be in every major newspaper instantly.

Also, I agree with Blacky apology is necessary.

Haha, yes I'm sure: good, clean, fun for the whole family! Have your picture taken with a cardboard standup of Gotovina! Vote for Miss NDH 2007! Take part in the Running of the Chetnik! All part of Croatia's glorious and unblemished history of national inspiration.

What was Tudjman's famous statement? "Thank God my wife is neither a Serb nor a Jew?"

The problem with this whole event is that Croatia's nationalist past continues to be glorified at the highest state levels because it has never been defeated. Tudjman's regime was supported by the US and achieved its objectives to driving out Serb communities in Knin and Slavonia, so there's no reason to downplay these symbols or these ideals. Whereas everytime a Serb wears a Mladic T-Shirt is a pretext for a bombing campaign and a reward of Serbian territory and industry to someone else, Croats have been able to get away with it and have the West look the other way.

Blacky, I think this kind of attitude in Croatia is exactly WHY Tadic was smart to apologise.

It shows the world who is more reasonable and who is stuck in a kind of backward retro-Nazi-puppetry.

Serbia has to be smarter than to be provocated again and again into the same old actions. Let's show we're civilised, not afraid to admit our wrongdoings in the past. Let others (and the world) see that we're a grown up nation and people.
Which sometimes means ignoring what happens in neighbouring countries. And let organisations like the Simon Wiesenthal Center deal with it.

“Maček reminded that the government condemned attempts to use and display symbols and slogans typical of Croatia’s Nazi puppet Ustasha regime that was in power during WWII”.
If this is true then why did Croatia revive the red and white checkerboard coat of arms, used as the centerpiece of the Ustashe flag, and incorporate it into their new flag? The only symbol missing was the famous letter ‘U’ at the top of the flag. A poor excuse to say that this coat of arms was used in medieval times when honest individuals knew it would bring back frightening memories of Croatia’s complicity with the Nazi’s during WWII and the slaughter of Serbs, Romas and Jews.
Blackey… While I can understand your frustration, the airing of the concert speaks for itself. If most Croats look back fondly on their Nazi past, then that is their shame. There was no shame when Tadic apologized. He did the honorable thing, rising above the hatred. The American industrialist and inventor, Henry Ford, said, “Three things needs a man to succeed: patience, honesty, and character.”
Has there ever been a generation in the Balkans who has known peace?
I have often read on this site “What goes around, comes around.” I am not sure what the interpretation is other than, “An eye for an eye.” If this is accurate, then everyone living in the Balkans will eventually be blind.

This is very shameful on the part of the Croatians, and believe me the EU will be looking. Germany also has no desire to be linked with neo-nazi fascists. How can Croatia ever be considered part of Europe when they behave as they are stuck in a nazi time warp.

In regards to Tadic, the Serbs really should be outraged at his behaviour and as well as for all the politicians in Serbia. The lack of interest of the Serbs in their own people is staggering. In a way the Serbs have only themselves to blame for lack of resposibility others like Croatia have failed to take. Who else is going to remember the victims if Serbia will not.

That's why it is shameful that Tadic would apologize to this country. This is their culture. This is who they are. They are the ONLY European country that glorifies their Nazi past and actually wishes it was the 1940s again. Most Croats look back fondly on those days. And it is clear from this report that they feel no shame about the concert, which is why it was aired.

There should never be an apology to a state like this. They need to get their act together, learn to be ashamed of their Nazi past, and do away with this garbage, and apologize to the Serbs for WW2 and Operation Storm. THEN there could be apologizes. Not until then.
