Hey, ther is a misinterpretation here. One thing is the Bosnian Catholics, other thing is the HDZ-BiH. The HDZ-BiH claims itself to be the sole legitimate “representant of Croats in Bosnia and Herzgovina”, but that’s not true. The creation of a third entity is not a demand of the Bosnian Catholics, but of HDZ-BiH, which has been losing power gradually over the years and wants to keep it, creating a kind of mini-one-party para-state.

The Croats were forced into a marriage of inconvenience with the Muslims but considering the fact they use Croatian money and have Croatian citizenship how real is this marriage anyway? The best long term solution would be for Bosnia to be a confederation of 3 cantons ala Switzerland with each ethnic group having control over its own affairs.

“Bosnian Muslims and Bosnian Croats are pushing to combine the police forces, and to draft a new constitution based on citizen rights rather than the rights of ethnic groups.”

Not entirely true.

“Dragan Covic, president of the main Croatian party in Bosnia, the Croatian democratic union, said that all Croatian parties will propose this week that Bosnia be divided into three ethnic entities, with Sarajevo as a separate district. “Croatian politicians must be the initiators of a new constitution which would guarantee Croats the same rights as to other constituent peoples,” Covic said.”

Lajcak does in fact seem impartial, is this something that he would allow or possible support?

Will Tadic’s apology allow Serbs and Croats in Bosnia to work more closely together on these types of issues?

Maybe it is a better solution to have 3 mini states in Bosnia rather then 2?

Or possibly would the Croatians back independence for RS if Kosovo is granted its independence in exchange for supporting the same for the Croatian territories. The Croatians and Bosniaks have a frail alliance as Mostar proved.
