Ahmet, it is interesting what you say. My first thought is why don't they invest in Kosovo itself? Probably because they see that is not very worthwhile. Also, Albanians from mainland Albania and from Kosovo are totally different.

The last time I looked in the map I was unable to find coastline in serbia. We K-Alb. are buying coatslines from Ulqin down to Albania proper. Besides we have our mother Albania with virgin coastlines , which are being developed by Kosovar bussnisman.

Joe, you are wrong. MLKG proved the point about Montenegro. As for Milosevic era stuff.. that is lone gone. The post-Milosevic regime has vigorously gone about drastic economic policies that Milosevic would never approve of, most notably the big amount of privatization.

You should also notice that there is a country called Moldova. It is the second poorest region in Europe, after Kosovo. It independent, and little investment goes there. Kosovo's major problem is the curruption and the fact that economic crisis is just too big. Their economy actually went down for some years, after 2000. Unemployment is between 50 and 70 percent. The place will be in shambles for ages. And actually, life and the economy in Kosovo were better there in 1998 than today.

Good to see that ethnic Albanian are interested in the macro-economic developments of their country.
In general a trade deficit is nothing to worry about and quite ordinary in countries that are in transition. For example direct foreign investments balance this deficit.
And about parallels to Montenegro: selling your coastline to Russians is not the same as stable economic development. You can do it once...
Last time I looked Kosovo had no coastline.

Lazar,

Once Kosovo get declared or recognized as independent international investment capital will flow in. Same thing happened in Montenegro, where even a loose federation with Serbia was holding it back.
Serbia is still lead by a Milosevic area nomenclatura not allowing true reforms. Corruption is rampant. Vojvodina, whose economy is milked by Serbia could also develop much faster with a true autonomy.

Ahmet, the same statement that you made can be changed to Kosovo too... to say that Kosovo, europe's poorest region, should concentrate more on economics than independence. So I think that your comment there is provacatory. Also, what myths are you talking about? Things that you want to be myths, or the truth?

Isufi, there are those who are concentrating on the economy. Te problem is that they are following the capitalist system where the rich get richer and poor get poorer.
