An absolutely vicious attack that I can not condemn strongly enough. Hopefully all Serbs will join Richard and I in expressing our condolences for this brave Croatian who is obviously doing the best job he can to look out for his people. I feel deep shame that this happened in such a wonderful area as Vojvodina, an area in which I celebrate diversity and the tradition of ethnic tolerance. Vojvodina is my favorite area of Serbia.

Daniel,
Yes you can witness the double standards of the Serbs. If the victime would be a Serb from Kosovo there would be 30-40 indignant posts here from the Serbs of this site. Kostunica would also alert Brussels and the UN. But in the case of a Chroat their attitude is "so what?" or "maybe he provoked the attacker".
I think the recent praise of limited Serb collaboration by Carla Ponte and some people of Brussels also encouraged some Serbs to think that some renewed old-fashioned attacks on minorities will be tolerated or simply ignored.

Yeah, PB, Blacky and Princip are relatively quiet on this one. Heaven forbid if this thing happens to a serb in Kosovo. Boy, would we see some posts from them then.

Joe? Joe? Where are you Joe?
You are always banging on about Vojvodina. Here is some genuine meat for your BBQ.

Maybe at the Admiral Horthy and John Hunyadi Joint Heroe conference discussing how Beograd was freed in pre middle ages and post modern periods(Nazism)

Similar attacks against Hungarians of Vojvodina happen fairly regularly. I am only surprised that the scope of these coward attacks is now widening to include other ethnic groups like Croats. Some people believe that the possible reason behind these attacks is the desire to drive out some minorities and create room for a possible flow of Serb refugies from Kosovo.

"It's starting - an orchestrated campaign to "prove" that Serbs are thugs who intimidate people. much more likely that the real perpetrators of this heinous crime are Croats or Hungarians trying to stir trouble in Vojvodina."

Oh come on. How do you come up with these conspiracy therories.

This man didn't deserve to be attacked, no-one deserves this. I just hope the police will find those who did this.
They could be of any nationality, they could also be Serb skin heads, nationalist etc. However just as I don't believe in any conspiracy to paint Serbs in a bad light, I also don't agree with comments that without a doubt will follow how all Serbs are still nationalists and are bad. Or some other standard reply from one Albanian or another that goes "this is why we don't want to live in Serbia" and all other nonsense like that.
