" and no person or group on this earth, not even the UN, has the authority to annul such a crime."

Eh Victor, I don't think you have read the article well.
But then you're not the only one, I think some people are on automatic pilot posting the same things over and over again while they have little to to do with the actual article. Lots of discusion here looks the same anyway, Sometimes I don't even know wheter I am reading a discusion about article A, or about Article B.

A genocide occurred in Srebrenica and the Bosnian Serbs are the perpetrators. THIS SHOULD BE WRITTEN, as Moses told the Pharaoh Ramses, and never forgotten. Thousands and thousands of innocent civilians were butchered every day by Arkan, Milan Lukic, Seselj's paramilitaries, policemen, soldiers, local militias, and no person or group on this earth, not even the UN, has the authority to annul such a crime. On the contrary, this genocide should be taught in all Serbian schools, so the serbian children see and understand the deadly fruits of extreme nationalism.

While I don't think that the Dayton accoords are set in stone, and that there shouldn't be any changes, I don't think now is the right time.

Haris Silajdžić can only widen the gap between Serbs and muslims, his comments and actions won't reasure the Serbs, and won't restore faith that they can live in Bosnia with one central goverment in Sarajevo. Wheter it's right or wrong Silajdžić is seen as an hardliner, just as much as some people think Kostunica is an hardliner and nationalist.

Serbs will only become more radical with actions like this, and won't give up on Republica Srpska. The focuss should be on good co-operation between the two entities. Re-asure the Serbs that they are part of Bosnia. At the same time the goverment in Srpska should do nothing to encourage people who say that Srpska should join Serbia if Kosovo is granted independence that Srpska will always be part of Bosnia. Also more should be done to let people return to their homes, but not only in Srpska.

Lets look at the outset of the war. It followed the Yugoslav army being sent to Slovenia and Croatia. Vukovar and Osijek were pounded into the ground with their civilians. Then Bosnia. The Milosevic regime supplied arms to Bosnian Serbs before the outbreak of war, as happened in Croatia. Then Arkan and other paramilitary groups were sent in. In the name of Serbs they slaughtered many people and cleansed towns and villages. Is it not true that the Army of Karadzic and Mladic overan 70% of Bosnia at the start of the war? Do we need to ask what was the source of the war? Think about it....

Look at the statement of one of the minister of Karadzic:
"With their mosques, you must not just break the minarets," he said, "You've got to shake up the foundations because that means they cannot build another. Do that,
and they'll want to go. They'll just leave by themselves."
-- Simo Drljaca, appointed by Radovan Karadzic as regional police chief
for five municipalities in the Prijedor area, interviewed by Chuck Sudetic,
21 August 1992

How many mosques and catholic churches were destroyed? Look for yourself. Look at Banja Luka all 16 mosques destroyed. Look at Sarajevo...look at the cathedrals (Orthodox and Catholic)still there. Consider that.
Can we consider a land taken by slaughter, and cultroside a valid polictical entity? Only people like Mladic, Karadzic, Seselj and Razhnatovic can be proud of that.

How can we live together under two separate governments? Two separate police? Do you see Cyprus working?

One country, one government, one police force. Can it be any other way?

My dear brother Serbs lets leave blind nationalism and stand up for a country we still love.

bad Gorilla,

need to live withing the international laws that have been formulated, signed and agreed by the Internavtional Community & parties involved directly - this goes for Dayton just as much as it applies to 1244!

Unless of course Bad Gorilla this is a round about way of suggesting your for war??? In which case it is sad that some have not learnt that violence is not the answer and just begets more violence - surely dialogue and respect of the law is more important so conform to it and learn to make the best of what you have not wish to make things worse!

The caso of Kosovo is quite different. Kosovo as a autonomous province/republic exists at least since 50’s, and the majority of its population was victim of brutal oppression and aggression by the Serbian state and armed forces during many years, that was stopped just due to the NATO bombing of Serbia.

Bur Repubilka Srpska is an artificial statelet declared in 1992 under the auspices of Milosevic regime and legalized only three years later by the badly-written Dayton Accords.

The government of Srpska by the times of the Yugoslav Wars was much more an AGENT of ethnic cleansing than a victim of it. The greater proof of this is that most of Srpska’s founding fathers are in prision, are dead, or are on the run.

There is no legal grounds to annul Dayton because:

1. While the ICJ declared that genocide occured in Srebenica, it did not consequently declare Srpska illegal.

2. Srebenica occured in 1991. Dayton was signed AFTER that in 1995. ie. Srpska as an entity could not be legally responsible for something that happened before it was born.

3. Dayton is a binding agreement among the 3 ethinic groups. To legally annul Dayton requires all 3 (INCLUDING THE SERBS) parties to agree.

4. The UNSC is not going to open another Pandora's Box by questioning a legal treaty. As it is, they currently already have so much headache in Darfur, Kosovo, Lebanon, Gaza, Iraq, Afghanistan etc etc

Atrocities committed by all sides?
Possibly, however, only one country stood accused of genocide before the ICJ since the convention was enacted in 1948. Only the Bosnian Serbs were found guilty of committing genocide since 1948. The case-load of the ICTY, as well as the sentences doled out by the same tribunal, are over 90% aimed at former Serb military or paramilitary commanders. Of course, none of this should be considered empirical data. It's all part of the vast worldwide conspiracy against the Serbian people.

Killings and expulsions happened by all sides and were commited by Albanians, Bosnian Muslims, Catholic Croats and Orthodox Serbs, but there is no doubt that the Serbian forces under the command of Milosevic and his four main bandit vassals (Ratko Mladic, Radovan Karadzic, Vojislav Seselj and Arkan Razhnatovic) commited more atrocities than any other force during Yugoslav Wars.

That’s why Kosovo should be independent, and the statelet of Republika Srpska should be extinguished forever and integrated in a unitary Bosnia.

That’s my opinion.

Instead of trying to divert attention by provoking Serbs and meddling into their internal affairs these gentlemen should focus their energies on fighting crime and corruption which are hitting gigantic proportions in Bosnia at all levels. That's the real reason Federation is not functioning.
