NATO backs UN Resolution for Kosovo

Yes indeed , this is a big day; first you get bombed into submition and now they throw a bone and if this makes you happy so be it. But than again you have no choice in the matter. I am dying to see if Serbia will go aginst other NATO minister's meeting when Kosovo/a is on the table, which is one of the main topics. Sebia is little confused at this time, because they want to join NATO and EU that both of them are in support of Kosovo/a Independence on the mean time they are depending on Mother Russia to save Kosovo/a. It is not going to work no matter which way you look at it.

Actually, now that I think about it, Russia will gain more if they keep firm and veto the proposal. And here is why... if America gets fed up and goes ahead with recognizing Kosovo without the UN resolution, than Russia will do the same with its interests in Georgia and other countries. If the US bypasses the UN, then it can't cry if Russia were to do the same. I believe the US knows this and is trying very hard to avoid this situation. And Russia also knows that no matter what, if it was to abstain or support the proposal, Russia knows very well that America would NEVER support an independent Russian region of Georgia, or any other breakaway provinces that want to link up with Russia. They know America would never support that. So why should they support the Kosovo proposal? Just because America keeps pushing for it? If they back down now, the Americans will take it as weakness. And we know back in the Cold War just how long wars lasted because both countries refused to show weakness. Vietnam, Afghanistan? Kosovo will only be independent with Russia's blessing if America agrees to give it something big in exchange. That won't happen.

Membership of the EU and Nato are not going to be accepted as a pay off for Kosovo. That's already been established.

Independence relies totally on the US in two ways: either they push through a new resolution within the UN (which will be vetoed); or they support unilateral independence which is highly unlikely at the moment.
The smart diplomats working behind the scenes know that Russia, Serbia and all EU countries need to be included in any agreement.

Serbs should have nothing to do with NATO, an organization of nations that illegally, immorally, without any just cause bombed, then occupied and now want to take their sovereign land away from them. Miller is right that Serbs are split (not down the middle). There is a powerful (Western backed) segment of Serbia that wants to crawl into bed with their oppressors and another segment that wants to preserve everything Serbian by staying close to our historical allies who would never harm Serbs. Serbs, think! If NATO did this before, what is the chance that they may do it in the future? Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me!

Same thing goes for what the Serbs did in Kovoso, thus their drive for independence.

It appears that NATO will be putting out these kinds of warnings for the next 50 years in Kosovo regardless of final status outcome.More troops and materiel should be poured into Kosovo dividing the Serb population from the Albanian one and the same should be done on the border between Republica Srpska and Muslim Bosnia.it is becoming clear that no imposed solution will be accepted by all sides so we are in for a deep freeze ala Cyprus in the Balkans for the next 100 years.

For all the Serbs who want to stick to Serbian traditions, you have been doing that for the last 20 years - where has that got you. Like it or not, Europe is the only partner - not Russia! Think about it, how many wars have existed between countries currently in the EU? We have to move on and realize what's going to be better for our country. Having a modern European state is the best solution - not turning back the clock by 200 years!

they cant even deal with Iraq are afghanistan they got to much problems and next Iran and they think they will control kosovo.we will see .and i think NATO is a joke

Like it or not Russia is a part of Europe! They belong in the EU far more than Turkey.
Serbia's destiny is as a bridge between East & West and that is our future. We should not be forced to choose between the two.

That is brillian Matthew. I love that idea, "A Bridge Between the East and the West". I gives the nation neutrality. Like a Balkan Switzerland, without an EU, NATO, or Russian nosering to be pulled at their whim. Sizela Nova Srbija!
