Why do you all people talk, talk and even more talk, with ought the slightest concern of what you are talking about?!
Why do all you serbs say the Albanians should not want to separate the valley? Why should they not? Who are you to say?
If you care why don’t you ask the question, well what has made this people want to leave Serbia and join kosova?
When you answer this questions, you will have no more regreats and no more objections but will agree with them!
Thank you

Just when I thought nothing can surprise me anymore! But now the Albanians are making demands for Medveda where they are only a MINORITY!

Ethnic Albanians can not claim any sort of legal rights to a land based on gerrymandering. (Definition: gerrymandering is American form of redistricting in which electoral district or constituency boundaries are manipulated for an electoral advantage.)

Borders can not be redrawn every time there is a shift in demographics. People can not just draw a line in the sand and say ok these people on this side will have a referendum and it is their will. It is the will for a greater Serbia amongst Serbs; it is the will of Serbs as a whole not to let Kosovo become independent.

It would be if ethnic Mexicans living in the south – west United States or Southern Texas just drew some imaginary line, that included all of them, and held a ‘vote’ to leave the US, it would be illegal!

That is one of my main gripes about the independence of Kosovo; the borders of that province have expanded and contracted numerous times throughout history. To say that Kosovo is historically its own land, distinct culture, people, and ethnicity, along with clear definable historical borders is a lie. There are numerous other reasons why this American Soldier, who served with KFOR from 2005-2007, is opposed to the independence of Kosovo, but the before mentioned statement fits the topic at hand.

As for PMB, I have been to these places. I as a member of KFOR had the great opportunity to enter Serbia – proper in a meeting with the Serbian Armed Forces who patrol along the ABL. I have driven through the villages of these Municipalities on the way to the meeting in Vranje and the ethnic- Albanians in Serbia – proper live better than any Serb or ethnic – Albanian in Kosovo. The roads are paved, the lights are on, and there is very little trash on the streets. It is time for the Albanians to get off it.

Why is it that wherever Albanians are, they are not satisfied? Be it the southern Serbian province of Kosovo, or Serbia's Preshevo Valley, or Macedonia? Why don't you just adapt to where you live, and stop insisting on being Albanians only? Why should you get special treatment just because you are another ethnic group than others in the area? Have you all been watching American TV, and seen that playing the Racial Card gets results?

If you want to be part of the EU, then behave like you want to be.

Ruben, I am so happy you support independence for Serbs in Croatia, Bosnia, Montenegro and Kosovo (If it formally gets Independence). So refreshing to have support from the Pro-Kosovo Independence side. I'm sure you support the same freedoms for Serbs as you would like for Albanians. Its a good thing that we can work together on this.

Those 100s of protestors can walk to Kosovo then, where the living standard is much lower and more terrorists loom. That region will remain part of Serbia anyway and we will better it, so no reason for anyone to be angry.

I believe most Albanians in South Serbia are smarter then to follow some extremist parties.

The referendum isn't lawful anyway. There are minorites everywhere, in different places in diffent countries. It doesn't mean that when they are a majority in one place or region they can become independ or join another country.

The Albanians have the same right as the other people living in Serbia, this isn't the 90's anymore. The fact that they can peacefully demonstrate, holding the Albanian flag in Serbian territory shows that. However demonstrations like this doesn't serve anybody, and people like Riza Halimi knows that.

If you think Kosovo is independent you have never looked at an atlas and you have never read resolution 1244. You live in a fantasy world, where, Kosovo is called Kosova, where there is no crime, drugs or white slavery, and where your PM/president are not murederers.

The reality is... Kosovo is not independent. It relies on foreign aid and its govn in the south answers to UN while north answers to Belgrade.

ruben, you should be very careful in drawing similarities between sovereign states and aggressive military empires...these are two very different things

perhaps we should have berlin ruled by austria? of course, this can go on and on...

serbia didn't 'take' kosovo from anybody, as evidenced by the archaeology there.

Zoran,
Did the Serbs stop illegal activities against the sovereign states of Turkey and Austria-Hungary? Of corse not.
Occupied nations will always fight for their independence.

"Fifteen years later, the protesters want to remind Belgrade of that stance, since, as Musliju said, Serbia has stopped assisting Albanians in the region."

So lets get this streight... if we dont assist you, like we did with endless years of SERBIAN taxes going to development of Kosovos economy and infrastructure you will split. Seriously, hope for an autonomy because partition will be much worse for you then for us.

Kosovo will never be independent.

One thing to remember is that it was 95 percent of Albanians living in the region that voted for a transfer of the municipalities into Kosovo and also that they make up 89% in Preševo, 60% in Bujanovac and only 26% in Medveđa.

If the Valley Albanians want better treatment, then they should stop supporting the Illegal dismemberment of the sovereign state that they live in and drop their separatist agenda.

I think the Serbian government should treat the Albanians in Presevo valley equally on the way how they want Albanians to treat Serbs in Kosovo.
Thanks
