IMHO, I believe that Kosovo-Metohija will be partitioned. That is the only way for the world powers to collectively save face, and for Belgrade to get rid of the Kosovo burden. Who needs it? Let's unite the Kosovo Serbs in the North with Serbia proper and, get on with it. God bless us all, we are all human beings afterall and deserve a peaceful and promising future. Let the Albanians have their independence. I, for one, am really tired of this conflict. Borders really mean nothing. They do not put food on the table.

BTW, best of luck to Antonio Tarver tonight. I will get a vicarious satisfaction when he KO's the Kosovo Kid in Connecticut. Peace to all in the Balkans. 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, You're OUT!

Princip,
If you are so sure of your cause why are you going into this long monologue? Your Serbian friends don't have to be converted. With the others all effort of persuation is simply waste of time.

I wonder how will you comment when, with or without Russia's veto, Kosova will be Independent?
I am sure you will find something to justify your naive comments.
Please God forgive him(and all others who post one sided comments) because they don't know.
As I said previously and again today, all I am saying is that Kosova will be Independent and I am not saying this week or next, this month or next month but it won't be years and I am sure it will be very soon.

“There are no conclusions on the matter as we speak, but the discussion will continue,” Solana said.

FOR EVER AND EVER.
Till the whole of Europe becomes dependant on Russia for energy and then the song will hit the next verse.

Fact remains you were NOT independent after 99, you are not independent today, NOR will you be independent in the next 1000 years.

well, ...even the last Albanian should have got the message by now. the last word to be spoken is the russian one.
and without their approval, there is no need for further wishful thinking á la "they will say their price".

the Albanians should rather ask ceku why he didn´t tell them the truth after returning from Moscow.
but, that won´t happen, since the Albanians blindly trust this criminal, who is even lying to his own poeple...

Princip,

You seem to be SMART, but I am SMARTER than you. You see, back in 2003 this management/leadership tool "SMART" was updated to "SMARTER," with "ER" standing for Exciting and Rewarding. We Ksv-Albanians think of independence as exciting and the only thing that would reward / would do us justice for all wrong-doings the Serbian regime did up to the completion of the 1999 war. You see, without the "ER" there absolutely no motivation for us to, and full-fledged autonomy won't cut it either. You and other Serb friends should try to understand this NEW REALITY in which we are in -- Kosovo has been SMARTER than Serbia for a long time -- we have the WORLD IN OUR SIDE!

I'm sure all of you that follow the news closely have seen what President Bush has said after today's meeting with Italy's PM Romani Prodi...US President George W Bush has said a plan for Kosovo's UN-backed independence should take effect now, despite Russian and Serbian opposition. Princip,
Go back to 2003 and update your SMART objectives.

The best plan would be for Serbia to get the northern part of Kosovo and its total foreign debt forgiven along with immediate EU membership in return for recognizing the independence of the the southern part.it is time for the EU to offer benefits greater than the costs.

Blacky: You need to read a bit more about how America got entangled in Vietnam. France weakened by WWII had lost the economic and military ability to hold onto Vietnam and as a result the Battle of Dien Bien Phu was France’s Waterloo. When America lost China and North Korea to Communism the hawks in US administration feared that the rest of South East Asia would follow, and the rallying cry by the war party was the “Domino Theory”. Vietnam was divided in 1954 as part of negotiations in the division of Korea. Elections were promised but America opposed holding elections as it was certain that the Communists under Ho Chi Minh would win. France pulled out and America went in hoping to hold onto half of Vietnam and protect its rice, and rubber interests in the South, consequently the anti colonial rebellion started in the South with the help of the North. France was America’s Trojan horse in many parts of the world, like South East Asia, just like Britain is America’s Trojan horse in Europe [in comes Blair Bush’s poodle] which Franc since De Gaulle wanted to keep out. De Gaulle saw himself as the new Napoleon and for years opposed Britain’s membership in the European Common Market. Some of my Canadian friends must remember his “Vive la Quebec libre” comment in support of the separatist FLQ on a visit to Quebec City. . France’s self interest can be seen when “De Gaulle's government put forward in the early 1960s a plan, the Fouchet plan that uncannily prefigured the Chirac-Schroeder plan for an intergovernmental political union in effect an anti-democratic super-state run by France and Germany with small countries squashed.” This new super-state would extend from the Atlantic to the Urals with France and Germany playing a dominant role. So Blacky France all along had everything to say about the Balkans and they will stab anyone in the back, even their best friends the Serbs when French grandeur is at stake as we saw with the bombing of Serbia. Someone here on this forum mentioned a Balkan Union which I think is a great idea, which if my memory serves me correct was proposed at one time by King Alexander, but it will be like herding cats or putting horns into a sack seeing how some of you on this forum think.. As long as politicians in Belgrade and other capitals of Europe including Pristina remain poodles they will occasionally let you bark on the porch but they will never be allow you to run with the big dogs.

Ihave followed the summit every step of the way and no leader has said these two words that Princip is saying; " No Independence", on contrary everybody agrees that there is no other solution and even great russia never said flat out NO INDEPENDENCE. Actually russia always keeps on saying that an agreement has to be reashed betweeb belgrade and PRISHTINA. By the way I ahve been with some NGO going around the country of Kosova and we are have talks with serb that have returned to Kosova nd guews what all had to say; ' I rather live in Independent Kosova than in serbia, becasue we are treated as second clas citizens and we are called siptari", beleive me this is coming from serb that have been living in hell for past few years in their mother country.

Another great example... if the past justifies carving up a country, then I think the French have a lot of land to give up.

I hope that the Serbs will learn that the French are not friends... they never have been... they simply focus on what is best for them. Their say in the Kosovo solution is laughable. This is coming from a country that pulled America into Vietnam. The French in Vietnam! Or how about Algeria? That's another wonderful gem in French history. So the French really have no say in this situation if we are to use the "Past" as justification for the present.

Or wait, I'm sure there is a difference... right? There always is.

Question Mark

pre 16 godina

I agree with Merkel when she says "We could have already decided on it and sent someone to Kosovo beside Ahtisaari, but it would hardly change anything."

Send who ever you want, the conclusion will again be: Independence is the only and best solution.

The Serbian government has done a disservice to them selves by rushing to approve a constitution that does not give Kosovo even the 1974- autonomy.

Kostunica, who I think hates Albanians more than Milosevic, can say what ever he want but one thing is very clear: Kosovo belongs to the people who lives there and 92 % of them are Albanians. Albanians and all other non- Serb minorities want independence.

I hope Albanians and all those who support peace do not get discouraged by lack of Russian support, since all people knows, also Serbs and Russians, that Kosovo is never going to be a part of Serbia again. They tried to create a Serbian Kosovo by using genocide and ethnic cleansing but failed several times during the 20. Century.

I hope Albanians can wait some more weeks and I hope KFOR can stop everyone who tries to destabilize Kosovo, especially Serbian state.

Princip, UK

I agree the discussion was very constructive - however, end result is fairly unsurprising and was the only thing that was 'inevitable' - NO INDEPENDENCE!

Thats right NO INDEPENDENCE, despite false predictions;

Ceku: Independence in early 2007 - 20 November 2006
http://www.b92.net/eng/news/comments.php?nav_id=38102

I would suggest that the ethnic-Albanian posters really think now before posting it will be next week, next month, next year, next decade, next century, next millenia.......

The folly has ended - International law is upheld the UN Resolution that the US helped formulate and SIGNED post conflict in 1999 will remain unless of course Serbia agrees to a new one - Russia has specifically said it will veto!

Not even the US spin masters UPI as try as they might and as positive as they can be the 'inevitable' has no become 'unlikely';

"The U.N. resolution to grant Kosovo independence was rejected last week under threat of a Russian veto. U.S. diplomats are raising the issue with Russia this week, but a resolution granting independence is unlikely and the Kosovo decision will likely be postponed indefinitely."

I think we now have the result that was 'inevitable' - and I implore the ethnic-Albanians to undertsand that their future is best served through dialogue and a new understanding that one must "conform to it". Inform you leadership that jobs and economic progresion is best served through a new understanding of the host Nation and that attempts to ILLEGALLY dismember will be 'counterproductive'. Ceku has no credibility and has been shown that he was never honest following his visits to Russia in December and the US recently. He could never deliver the undeliverable and needs to accept the reality.

Only through real talks and negotiations can all the peoples of Serbia progress - that includes the Serbians of ethnic-Albanian heritage throughout in the Serbia province of Kosovo & Metohija.

Let the inevitable talks that must be held begin!

False promises of "statehood" are false hopes and aspirations that were never S.M.A.R.T. objectives!!!

New understanding and objectives that are SMART will be the best way forward to ensuring the 'win-win' that is in the best interest of all the peoples of Serbia - irrespective of ethnicity!

It's time for the real talks, reconciliation and a new fund trust to be given a chance !!!
