If Serbia has to abide by the law..(from the Dayton Accords) then America should respect UN Resolution 1244, respecting Serbia's soverienty and territorial integrity over Kosovo. The worst crime an American can commit is treason, and thats what America is pressuring Serbia to do, commit TREASON. Do you understand why they don't want to turn in the other generals??? For the same reason that Clinton, Blair, and Bush will never stand trial in The Haugue, neitehr should any Serb generals (why isnt Agim Ceku wanted by the international courts).... Also Serbia has many more important issues to deal with than catching the remaining fugitives (KOSOVO, poverty, education, transition into the EU, etc..)

I have a suspicion that the jails in Holland are more humane than the ones in Serbia. It is time for the remaining 5 indictees to go to the Hague and plead their cases REGARDLESS of where they are presently living be it Serbia or the moon.

Since when is it a violation of Serbian law. Milosovic signed the Dayton accoords, in that it clearly says that all War criminals should be arrested and transfered to the Hague. It's not against the Serbian law to do so, it's an obligation. So stop the tired talk about Serbs should be trialed in Serbia. The sooner the remaining 5 are arrested the better. You will hear some complaints coming from the Radicals, but the rest won't care.

The point is not about Tolimir being arrested, the point is that the government lied about where he was arrested. so we are allow a so called "democratic" government lie to us. Firstly as a government they should not be lying to their people. Secondly if they have the sheer stupidty of lying then the result will be in them losing the next elections.

Thats why the radicals care so much as it is them wanting to stop a precedent being created where it is ok to lie to the people.

Richard Z, what would "be so bad" is that it would have been a violation of Serbian law. Would America allow one of its' citizens to be extradited to a foreign country for a war crimes trial? Serbs should be put on trial in Serbia.

Would it be so bad if he was arrested in Belgrade, no. If he was arrested in Belgrade there was no reason for the goverment to lie about it. Even if he was in Belgrade all the time, and that they could have arrested him for some time. All that matters is that he was arrested now, and that the Serbian goverment is willing to co-operate with the Hague. If they stop co-operating and chooses not to arrest other war criminals like Mladic, then the talks with the E.U. will stop and there'll bo no agreement. When they arrest more war criminals the talks will continue. That's all there is to it.
Only the radicals are hung up about how and where Tolimir is arrested.
