Why do you suppose Austria and Sweden have chosen not to join NATO? In 2 or maybe 3 years NATO is gone! Replaced by a smaller EU Security army without American participation. The Euro currency was created to even the playing field against the American dollar, the EU was created to unite and strengthen Europe, who do you think they were trying to strengthen themselves against? NATO defies everything the EU is about and I believe that its usefulness ended the day communism ended in Russia and the illegal war on Yugoslavia fought. You have to remember that when NATO was created it was to act as a defencive force but the Americans have turned it into an offencive force, that is not what NATO was supposed to be. And no... Serbia will never join NATO, but then in a couple of years there will be no NATO to join, by the way does anyone have any idea what it cost to be part of NATO besides the ultimate cost of human life?

I agree with luciano, use NATO as much as we can (god knows they owe us...) and in the end when the decision to join NATO is brought up we say calmly and Cooley "No thank you :)"

It only ties down a nations army to serve another. Well Serbia does not look to brightly on that.

This is a wonderful opportunity for Serbia! Luckily those with negative opinions live in the Diaspora and really have no impact on Serbia whatsoever. Viva Serbia and Viva the ODC!!

Serbia should take advantage of all the positive things this kind of partnership has to offer but without actually becoming a full fledged member of NATO.This militaristic organization will constantly be looking for more and more conflicts to engage in to the benefit of the military-industrial complex and the detriment of human life.

Serbia will not join NATO. They can try all they want but the public opinion is clearly against it. For the obvious reasons. NATO's charter does not allow it to extend any invitiation to countries where the public opinion is against it. Period.
