Joe, Lollee, yes I am serious! This has happened to me, and has nothing to do with public schools! There is no FREEDOM OF RELIGION in the U.S.A. PERIORD! Lollee, I just might take your advice.

Zoran, if you don't like the US then return to where you or your relatives came from! Why should public schools in the US teach religion..are you even serious about this accusation? Also if you don't like the public schools, feel free to send your children to private schools. There they can have all the religious training you so desire. Better yet move in with Chavez both of you have a lot in common!

Zoran said "Courts here in the US can prevent you from any contact with your children if you teach them the Bible".
Zoran you are famous of spreading desinformation about the US but I feel this one is the strongest so far. Look into the mirror please to see the color of your face...

Chavez is a two-bit petty dictator who only gets accolades and praise around the world by socialist wannabes because of his interesting and humorous digs at Bush. In the end, he's nothing more than an elite who realized he can use elements of national populism to secure public legitimacy, no different than Milosevic did in the 1990s.

It's also interesting to read comments who almost agree with Chavez shutting down free media outlets on the very website that suffered the same conditions in the 1990s in Serbia and the website that many here champion as the embodiment of what free media in the Balkans should be.

Chavez is too popular for them to be able to overthrow him... but nontheless these guys tried their best to overthrow him, and were supported by the West. That is the difference between Venezuela and Serbia... they were not bombed, they were more richer, and their leader attacked the western backed opposition on time, not when it was hopelessly too late.

If for example CBS had supported a failed coup against the US government or ITV one against the British government do you think they would be able to continue to broadcast?

The US has tried to overthrow Chavez at least once before, so his paranoia is somewhat founded. Freedom of the press is an absolute, as is religion, speech and so forth. However, if this media outlet was a puppet of a hostile foreign government or its supporters and was inciting a violent uprising, then maybe closing it is justified. Of course when the US loses control of a country with such a valuable resource (oil & plenty of it) then we (US) scream "lack of democracy, dictatorship", sound familiar? To boot, the US has no freedom of the press, religion or speech. Courts here in the US can prevent you from any contact with your children if you teach them the Bible. If the teaching interferes with Feminism or political correctness, I know this to be true firsthand.
