I think the best flag would be something without red color and without any animals (not even bunnies). This worked for Bosnia, although their flag is too reminiscent of a corporate logo. I think a light-blue - white - light-green horizontal tricolor with a dark-green olive branch in the center would be quite neutral and representative. Light blue is for the sky, white is for the snow in the mountain tops, light green is for the fresh leaves in the spring (symbol of hope), and the olive branch is for peace.

nyoutlawyer,

I remember you, you used to post stuff in KosovaReport.com.
I see that you have not changed your position on how you view Albanians in any shape or form. Kosova is not holding a "the government in Kosovo is conducting a contest to see what their flag may look like."

The Kosovar Governemnt isn't holding the contest to see what it (flag) looks like but to DECIDE what the new FLAG WILL BE. The Kosovar government isn't playing games or having a tea party, the government is DEMOCRATICALLY finalizing state emblems, if you don't believe me READ THE ARTICLE TITLE ABOVE.

Kosova is deciding the flag, the passport and other things--which are all important even if you think that they are irrelevant.

What is there for the Kosovar Government to do? Fulfilled the standards (whether you believe it or not), it convinced the world to hold status talks, convinced the world for PRO-Independence, now we're watching serbia self-destruct as we lay and receive INTERNATIONAL RECOGNITION.

Kosova is working towards its future while serbia is isolating itself. Keep hiding criminals, keep priding yourself, keep believing that you are SUPERIOR and others are INFERIOR, we'll see how far that will get you.

Yes, consult with Putin as to what your flag may look like. It's amazing to me, with all the conflict going on within the G8, UNSC, etc. The government in Kosovo is conducting a contest to see what their flag may look like. Has anyone noticed how quiet these proxy Kosovo politicians are of late? Wonder why?

Senior Ceku, Senorita La Ponte is waiting to extend you her invitation. An offer you can't refuse, I'm sure.

I don't understand comments of Albanians on this article. Why did you became victims of nontolerant, offensive and arrogant coments of Marko, Luciano, Mike, Gigi, Jack, Svojgazda, Jovan, Obilic, Jovan Z, Nele, Yugi, PB, Princip and the others...
There are another places for constructive discussion and contribution regarding state emblems of newest state in Europe, independent Kosovo...

Dear posters,

While we attempt to moderate all comments in order to allow for a debate that will not, even if at times heated, descend into abusive or offensive language, mistakes are occasionally made, for which we hope we have your understanding.
The procedure then is to remove the posts that we deem unacceptable along with reactions to them, which would make little sense left standing without the source they refer to.
Once again, we very much appreciate your contribution and urge you to react in a constructive and tolerant fashion, as the majority of you for the most part do, even if the subject at hand is very sensitive and emotional.

Ahmed, I guess you were in the wrong line when sense of humour was handed out. This thread shows there is a healthy mentality on the B92 forum where everyone(Serb, Albanian and international) can come together for a good laugh when the occasion is right. Long live unity through humour.

I have to add that this just adds to the whole folly - it just goes to illuminate that there is no historical, ethnic, economic and in this case in point no such state emblems since no such state has nor ever will exist!!!

On another point the fact that someone has to run some competion to "invent" emblems for an invented multi-ethnic entity but ignore the fact that there are many more then just the Serbians and ethnic-Albanians who live in the Serbian province firther highlights the scant regard for the "multi"-ethnic element of the Serbian province and Serbia as a whole!!! There is in addition to Serbs and Albanians in the Serbian province Roma, Montenegrins, Egyptian (balkan), Ashkalli, Turks, Bosniaks, Muslims(by nationality),Gorani, Janjevic, Torlaks etc etc... I doubt any of this will be considered in such further folly!!!

Ahmet Isufi. Celebrating what? independence? how can you celebrate when legally you'll alway remain a part of serbia. the whole can back your independence move but if russia uses it's veto then you have no legal claim to Kosovo. it's as simple as that. you may have defacto indepenence, but when the USA has no use for Kosovo territory and moves out Serbia can rightly claim it's territory. it may be a long time, but ultimately the albanians will lose out which is why you, the europeans and the USA are so desperate for Russia NOT to use it's veto. The USA and the europeans know full well the implications of a russian veto. Kosovo as an independent state would be like a ticking time bomb.

People you are missing the obvious, the flag must be red, white, and blue - with 2 birds on it. One with Clinton's head on it, and the other Ahtisarri's. I can just picture it now flying proudly over Klinton Boulevard in downtown Pristina.

How about a double-headed white eagle and a double-headed black eagle engaged in a cock fight? That's basically what's been going on in Kosovo for at least 100 years both in the literal and the metaphorical sense, and that's about as close it's gotten to any multiethnic character.

Blerimi

pre 16 godina

Right! Kosovo's multiethnic character you say?

I'll give it a go:

It most definitely has to be a two headed eagle... a black and white one! The white half represents the Serbs and the black one the Albanians.

Now... we need more! Perhaps it's holding something in its claws... maybe a pork chop in the white claw and 'Argeta pasteta' in the black one!!!

That would be a nice state symbol, worthy putting on a passport cover, don’t you think?
Any suggestions on how to represent other ethnic groups? :-)

Why bother? A double headed eagle on a red background will do, no?? Dear politicians save the money from the competition and start building infrastructure.
