Canadian,

You ask what benefit does Republic of Kosova bring, which you answer with nothing but when you confront yourself with the same question about serbia you reply, "a great benefit." How about I answer you that question, Republic of Kosova offers "great benefit," hahaha.

If you are going to ask a question at least be serious and ask with a mature thought.

Now you say that America is abandoning us more and more everyday...how surprising. This just in (literally) "Kosovo's independence is unavoidable" that's the American ambassador. This all just in, CONDOLIZA RICE, "status quo is blah blah", also "Kosova will never be serbian." Ohh yes, you do have it right when you talk about POLITICS.

I guess there is going a lot of that ADD slash selective readings amongst our friends.

To CLEVE:
I'm sorry it's KOSOVA, kosovo is a city (I think) in Croatia, also in russia known as "province of Kaluga Kosovo."

You are a Serbian citizen living in the Serbian Provence of Kosovo. If you don't like it then, move to Albania. Ask yourself why there is still no independence is Kosovo? Because its illegal. Serbia has the law on their side and Russia's Veto will ensure that Kosovo never get legal independence. If after you get angry and start a disturbance you can be sure that NATO will put you down! Serbia does not have to send their soldiers into Kosovo anymore, that is why NATO is there.

What possible benefit does an Albanian Kosovo bring to the world? A stable Serbia however, is of great benefit to the world. Have you noticed that slowly the USA is distancing themselves from you, as each day passes you hear less and less from the USA? Do you know why? Because its over. America tried and failed. No big deal for them, they have much larger concerns to worry about then Kosovo.

Its really funny to conceive Russia as a superpower able to dictate in world affairs.

It is just a semblance of power not real power which Putin is selling for domestic consumption to boost morale after the decades of decandence.

However, US economy and leadership be it technological or cultural etc etc cannot be even compared with the tiny power of Russia.

If Serbs tie up with Russia as they are doing they are harming their long-term prospects.
As for Kosovo, no Serb soldiers feet will be stepping there FOREVER.

Once I listened to Drascovic portraying Serbia as industrial powerhouse of Balkans..ha-ha! So no Greece, Romania, Turkey, Bulgaria, Croatia but..Serbia! Funny so funny indeed.

Make up your mind.
Let's look at GDP of russia and Canada.

Russia:
GDP - real growth rate: 6.6% (2006 est.)

GDP - per capita (PPP):
$12,100 (2006 est.)

Canada:
GDP - real growth rate:
2.8% (2006 est.)
GDP - per capita (PPP):
$35,200 (2006 est.)

russia = 12k CANADA = 35K

Russia is growing at 6.6% rate but that doesn't mean anything. It has YET TO CATCH UP to Canada's economy.

BTW how are those weapons in russia? Rusted perhaps?

Just thought I'd post some information for all of those who rely on RUSSIA so fiercely over the INDEPENDENCE of Kosova.

If Russia stops gas pipes and Oil to Europe....the russians will starve.

Joe...
This is who you feel sorry for?

http://www.serbia-info.com/news/kosovo/terrorism/since1990.html

Ive shown much more respect to the states EVEN after the bombing of an innocent nation (Serbia) in 99, when 9/11 happend to you. To me it sounds you are getting ur information from CNN or BBC.

Irony is your taxes are paying for Al Quaida weapons in the Balkans. Eventually they will kill Americans as in IRAQ, IRAN, AFGANISTAN, etc. Maybe you should reconsider your stance.

KOSOVO... NOT KOSOVA

pre 16 godina

Now I understand. Joe is a Hungarian and still upset at losing Vojvodina after WWI to the Serbs. He wants Kosovo to get independence because he thinks that will make it easier to get Vojvodina back. It's not going to work Joe. Vojvodina is around 70% Serbian and you have lost it for good.
You imply in your comment that Serbs have been doing what exactly in the last XX centuries? Let me remind you - we expelled the turks, we helped destroy Austria-Hungary (which you are probably still upset about) to oblivion, we supported the allies in WWI, we fought against Nazism in WWII while Hungarians, Albanians, Croatians, and Bosnian Muslims, all supported Hitler, Nikola Telsa dicovered alternating current which makes it possible for you to turn on your light every day....I won't go into our sporting achievements, they are too numerous to list here.
Ziveli!

Joe

pre 16 godina

Canadian,
You seem to see a Muslim in everyone who sympatizes with the Albanians. So according to you I am a Muslim. Since when are Hungarians Muslims?
Believe me I am very well informed about Serbs and all their actions during the XX century. For all these reasons my sympathies are very well founded.

Canadian

pre 16 godina

To Joe,

I doubt that you are not either Albanian or Muslim. How do you base your sympathy for Albanians, by what you read in the media and watch on TV? If so, you need to get a serious reality check buddy! If you weren't there then you know nothing. I am not suggesting that acrocities did not happen, far from it, as there is plenty of evidence, but had you been there you would recognize that acrocities happened by both sides and in fact Albanians were killing their own if their own did not support the KLA. No Serb ever killed another Serb in Kosovo. Joe, you should be decent and say that your sympathy lays with all who were killed and don't give me this rubbish that Serbs did more killing, what difference does the number make, each life whether 1 or 100 is precious! You are a fraud sir, or you're very ignorant. And in case you're wonder, I was there, and was in Serbia during the worst of times. I saw with my eyes what is what and who is who buddy!

Jovan

One can only wonder, how much the Albanians here are writing about "it´s a done deal" and similar stuff, as if they need to read it themselves in order to feel better afterwards...

but, as a matter of fact, they seem to be incurable. they don´t seem to see how many deadlines have been crossed by now and...surprise, surprise, they are still being told " next month, it´s a done deal!"

ps: don´t always come up with accusations of racism, please, it´s quite the opposite, as far as I have witnessed here, it´s the Albanians coming up with doubtful ( racialy motivated) argumentation on a regular basis.
at least try to be honest.

Rust, rust is what the Soviet Union and the current Russia is made of.

Joe,

If you think Russia isn't a superpower you need to come out from under whatever rock you've been living under this past year. They are a dangerous superpower, even more so now than during the cold war.

Back in the 70's and 80's as the Soviet Block was starting to collapse we found out that they really weren't a threat to our (american) way of life at all. They were so brook that they couldn't feed their own people. That lead to the break down of the Sviet Union and an end to the cold war.

Now however they have a recovering economy (not there yet but heading that way) and control the natural resources that all of Europe is coming to depend on. They have more muscle now than they have since Stalin and they wan't a chance to flex it. they've been over looked for too long and they want the world to know that the bear is out of hibernation.

The US economy on the other hand is sliding. We're second rate to the Euro now and put more money towards war spending than we do education. If you think we are the big kid on the block that can protect you, then you're in for a shock. If Russia stays oppossed then the EU will flinch, they can't afford to p-off the Russians. If they EU pulls their support then the US won't have a choice.

In fact not only will they fail to support you but our press will probably uncover some information from an Al Kaida bunker in Afghanistan that says the KLA was the training ground for the 9/11 bombers to justify us flip/flopping this late in the game.

Just like you tell the Serbs not to trust Russia. I tell you don't put all your trust in the US. You don't have much to offer us so I wouldn't count on us going to far to help you out. That's just the nature of world politics.

The diplomat

pre 16 godina

I am worried. Some media and the US (who doesn´t give a nickel for the Albanians even if they think so), have fooled the Albanians in Kosovo to think they will have a new country. Every human being with a little bit of education knows this is totally impossible due to the law. I have a little, not full but little insight whats going on "behind closed doors" and I can honestly tell you; EU countries NOT all agree to this. About 40% agree, about 30 % have a lot of conditions and about 40% are against. I do not know what is the purpose to tell people, both Albanians and Serbs false statements. Kosovo can not be independent and will never be independent because its a sovereign state of Europe that is the legal owner. This will be a VERY hard thing to solve. Its like a "catch 22".

Alban Castro

pre 16 godina

To Dragan and all of you who have nothing left but threats. We know very well that Serbia will be a pain in the neck to Albanians for a long time to come, however, next time you will not meet unarmed civilians. On top of that, America is wellcome to keep Bonstill for as long as Serbia exist. Americans don't leave easily. Remember, Korea, Japan ...

Joe

pre 16 godina

Dragan,
I hope I did not hurt your feeling about mother Russia.
I would love to rectify some of your statements but unfortunately I have to go. I just want to note quickly that your proposal of a "complete economic blockade" of Kosovo seems to come from a science fiction movie. How do you plan to do it? Kosovo has many neighbors.
It is not San Marino in Italy or Lesotho in South Africa. As I wrote earlier it is realy fun to read your comments.

Mike

pre 16 godina

I'm going to go out on a limb here and note that while many Serbs feel satisfied that Russia is keeping every Albanian sad and miserable because of no independence, there's the second problem of now hosting a large ethnic group that a) doesn't want to be part of Serbia, and b) is treated like second class people on this site by some of the more nationalist-minded Serbs. Look guys, I like a good dig at Albanian hubris like the rest of us, I've dished them out myself at times, but if you're so bent on keeping Kosovo and telling the Albanians to behave and take part in constructive talks, constantly referring to them collectively as little more than a bunch of peasant bumpkins is NOT the way to start. If Serbs want to keep Kosovo, they're going to have to make radical changes to their political structures of government to not only include the Albanians more, but make them veritable junior partners in a new multiethnic state. Until then, the animosity between the two sides will only get worse.

Aleks

pre 16 godina

"..West has said unequivocally it supports independence..."

Que, tu comprendes ingles?

The 'West' being the UK, France, Germany and the US. The Media does this all the time. Every other state, Portugal, Spain, Slovakia etc. don't count because they are 'small'. This is typical snobbery and frankly a dishonest reporting of the news.

Well, back to reality, who takes over the presidency of the EU from July 1st 2007? Portugal. What does Portugal think about 'independence', it doesn't like it and has publically said so. If the UK and Germany try to ram independence 'through' whilst the EU is still divided (another point many like to ignore), then it undermines the idea behind the rotating presdiency of the EU, namely respecting and treating equally all member states.

It's sad that the fixation on the big states is so common. No wonder some are suprised when the 'inevitable' doesn't happen or happen when expected.

In another article the moderators of B92 did not post my reply in serbian to a comment made partly in serbian. The comment by the Serbian poster was "Kosovo je Srbija" and i responded in kind. But my response was not posted, why?

This time i ask you to please post this comment.

Cvele,

Your comment above is pure religious hatred. Last time i checked there was no Mohamed, Mustafa, Ahmed or Hassan in these forums.

While you retain the right to respond to any comment here please do so by mentioning actual posters rather that fictious people.

You believe that by mentioning such muslim names you somehow think you are insulting the K-Albanians in this forum while the obly objective you are actualy achieving is to humiliate yourself and show precisely how little you know about the Kosovo Albanians and the Ballkans in general.

Furthermore it shows how little respect you have for other people, religions and traditions.

Dragan

I agree with you. People dont seem to realize what a power Russia is. They have paid all their debts and are now laughing.

Dragan

pre 16 godina

Joe - If you read the news you would realize that Europe depends on Russia for over 30% of its natural gas supply. If Europe misbehaves, like the Ukraine did, Russia can just close the taps and watch them freeze. Russia also has huge supplies of gold, silver, nickel, oil....you name it. It is the richest country in the world with natural resources. The Americans and Europeans would like to get their hands on it, but with Putin in power it's not going to happen. Russia had a surpluss of 90 billion dollars last year while the US is in debt I don't even know how many trillions now, I lost count - and it's getting worse every day. Militarily, Russians are spending money again and upgrading, they have nukes, their country is vast and covers 11 time zones. If you really think they are not a superpower, just wait and watch.
In addition, the world is no longer dependent on the US economic engine. The US economy is only growing at 1% while the BRIC countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China) are growing at around 10%). This is why the US is no longer as important as it was, economicaly or militarily. This is why Russia and China really don't care much what the US tells them any more. Because the US is more and more dependent on them and they are less and less dependent on the US.
So what does all this mean? It means that Kosovo will never be independent. If Albanians really want to declare independence unilaterally, Serbia will simply impose a complete economic blockade on the province and make their lives even more miserable than they already are. Albanians have to realize that Kosovo always was, and always will be, Serbian, period. The historical evidence is there to prove this. They will never live in peace and prosperity until they realize this.

Ethnic-Albanians must learn to "conform to it" that they are citizens of Serbia just like any other citizen - the sooner they realise this the sooner all the poeples of Serbia can progress!!!

It is evident that Kosovo & Metohija is now on the back burner and will not even be discussed at the G8 so as not to antogonise the delicate political balance - Bush & Putin are now likely to discuss the way forward in July when they will meet up to discuss the way forward. So,here we go. Russia agrees to Ahtisaari minus, but no independence. When the Kosovo Albanians get used to this new talks are started with the intention of negotiating a form of relationship between Kosovo and Serbia. This will technically keep Kosovo a part of Serbia, but which effectively gives it complete autonomy with many of its own symbols.

Moreover, the US and EU would love to see this happen. Everyone, including those who support independence now, will breathe a sigh of relief. The idea that Kosovo is unique, and will not set a precedent, is completely laughable. The only reason they have accepted independence so far is because they are afraid of violence. Once it becomes clear that this will not happen Kosovo will be treated just like every other separatist entity around the world - and told to accept autonomy.

So what does all this mean? It means that Kosovo will never be independent.

Jason

pre 16 godina

You seem to see a Muslim in everyone who sympatizes with the Albanians. So according to you I am a Muslim. Since when are Hungarians Muslims?

You imply in your comment that Serbs have been doing what exactly in the last XX centuries? Let me remind you - we expelled the turks, we helped destroy Austria-Hungary (which you are probably still upset about) to oblivion, we supported the allies in WWI, we fought against Nazism in WWII while Hungarians, Albanians, Croatians, and Bosnian Muslims, all supported Hitler, Nikola Telsa dicovered alternating current which makes it possible for you to turn on your light every day....I won't go into our sporting achievements, they are too numerous to list here.

So much for dancing in the streets for Albanians. Did anyone actually believe that nonsense about a Croatian paper quoting "Sources close to Russian officials" if it had been true, there would have been names attached to those sources. This independence thing is not going to happened, for many of reasons, but mostly because it is illegal, and the rule of law must be upheld no matter what the circumstances. And for those of you who feel that Russia is powerless in the world political theater, think again, because Russia is the reason why there is no dancing in the streets in Pristina. Can any Albanian tell me another reason why there still is no independence for them? I think not, the only reason is because Russia will Vito and thus make any self proclaimed independence illegal, just as it would be illegal to do so now.

Princip, UK

pre 16 godina

So the reality is No Independence - what a surprise - Ceku new this back in December when he was told as much in his Russian trip!!!

Surely the time is right for a new start and it is an opportunity for the ethnic-Albanians in the Serbian province to stop looking back and move forward in a new understanding that the best way forward for ALL the peoples of Serbia (whatever their ethnicity) is working together for a better future for ALL. As Blair said recently to certain ethnic groups in the UK "Conform to it".

Illegally dismembering a UN member state is a folly that has evidently failed - this could nevere have passed in the UN SC and the US knew this all along!!

In all reality Western option available now is Ahtisaari 'lite' - no dissimilar to more than autonomy less than independence but with the max of EU administration as a overarching administration ensuring "European" values are maintained.

Ceku needs to come clean to the ethnic-Albanians and no longer lead them into the xenophobic deadend of the 90's. He should come clean on with what he knew back in December when he visited Russia - it will never be acceptable and a promise made by the US in the 90's is unattainable - look for a real solution that is acceptable to ALL.

Dragan,
I hope I did not hurt your feeling about mother Russia.

That's just the nature of world politics.

my dear serbs...the only way for a stable long-term solution for SERBIA itself is give up kosova..juss as it was given up 8 years ago..and as far as RUSIA`S role it`s just game of politics--they are very well aware, they can`t mess up with the west cuz of serbs for a lost-cause something that is being asked and insisted without any healthy-logical arguments...kosova is acting and functioning as an" independent state" allready and the official-day will come soon..like it or don`t like it, cuz there`s a strong reason for it..juss think of the whole job has been done for 8 years..tells you everything and westeren-civilized world does not live with the past myth..and ilusion so my dear friend-serbs TEAR DOWN THAT ILUSUION AND CONGRATULATE THE INDEPENDECE OF KOSOVA to the albanians and let`s move forward to a united EUROPE...!!!

yeah, nothing new, but we´re leaving the joking-phase obviously (albanian violence, unilateral acknowledgement etc.). i kinda miss the jokes.

who saw the press-conference yesterday? oh boy, i got goose-bumps.

rice (about the missile-shield): that´s ridicolous, putin told me the truth into the face: the balance of fear is working, the shield isn´t in any way protection from russian missiles and everybody knows it.

lavrov: let´s hope we (=russia) don´t have to prove it!

at that moment you could have heard a paper sheet falling on the ground.

The United States of America and Allies took on the might of the Soviet Union and brought it down like a house of cards.

Rust, rust is what the Soviet Union and the current Russia is made of.

The only card the Russians can play is the launching of their atomic bombs and the anielation of mankind. I mean what kind of a person or nation will go to such lengths to get some self-esteem.

Joe

pre 16 godina

Canadian,
You seem to see a Muslim in everyone who sympatizes with the Albanians. So according to you I am a Muslim. Since when are Hungarians Muslims?
Believe me I am very well informed about Serbs and all their actions during the XX century. For all these reasons my sympathies are very well founded.

Dragan

pre 16 godina

Ziveli!

Make up your mind.
Let's look at GDP of russia and Canada.

Russia:
GDP - real growth rate: 6.6% (2006 est.)

GDP - per capita (PPP):
$12,100 (2006 est.)

Canada:
GDP - real growth rate:
2.8% (2006 est.)
GDP - per capita (PPP):
$35,200 (2006 est.)

russia = 12k CANADA = 35K

TO THE REST

KOSOVO... NOT KOSOVA

Canadian

To: CELEBRALIS

Pavarsia

pre 16 godina
