How unfortunate that the Kosovo issue is being used as leverage in the international geopolitical game of ping-pong. While Russia is certainly looking after Serb interests as well I can't believe that the Ukraine/Georgia promise would be part of any printed text.
I'm sorry but doesn't the toying with those two nations seem a tad imperialistic both from the Western and Russian sides? Shouldn't Serbs, Kosovo Albanians, Ukrainians, and Georgians be able to democratically vote on how they wish to live and wich organizations they wish or do not wish to join?

like I wrote it several times: wishful thinking.

but, once again it was visible how blindfolded most albanian commentators here are uncritically hanging on every most simple word that is published...

it becomes understandable, how the K-TV could bring up the albanian mob against the non-albanian population that easy.

Albanians need to become more critical, otherwise they will be duped again, on and on...

You should not behave like that Cvele. I have said several years that Kosovo/a will not be a new country. Because its against all international law, UN own rules, Helsinki act, EU values etc. It doesnt matter that SOME Serbs have behaved extremely bad in the past in Kosovo/a. SOME Albanians do the same today. Dont measure who have been worst, it doesnt count in Europe anymore. There are no victims or martyrs anymore. Its pure crap and a waste of time. It is impossible to take a bit of a sovereign country to suddenly make it a new country. Believe me.

Come on now that is not very nice to laugh at this.I do find it interesting but who knows how much Russia is willing to support us in Serbia.Very interesting when compared to the story coming out of Croatia that "semi-official" sources say Russia nad the US have agreed to a silly compromise.Croatia of all places knows best what is going to happen.That is the funny story

Come now folks let's be adults and allow cooler heads to prevail let us not provoke hateful responses.

The US and Russia are currently in the process of throwing ideas at each other before the G8 summit on the 6th of June.

This is how the game is played guys, informal statements by "anonymous diplomats close to this or that side"

Either way, Kosovo is a lose-lose for Serbia and Russia. The K-Albanians will never agree to be subject to Serbia, not in a million years and whoever believes the K-Albanians will slowly accept Serbia is greatly mistaken. We didnt accept Serbia ever since the first sllavic tribes came to the Ballkans, what makes you think we will do so now?

Freedom and independence from Serbia is the only option, everything else will sooner or later lead to WAR. Those of us who have been through war before know more than anybody else how futile it is and no one better than us undrestands the importance of using peaceful means to obtain our goals.

That's exactly what will keep Kosovo from ever gaining independance. If you don't get your way, start a war. That will take the support that the Kosovo albanians have and give it right to Serbia. It will show the world that Kosovo and the KLA are no better than the Taliban and Al Kaida. It's this type of thinking that is causing the problems in the first place.

Believe me once that war starts Kosovo Albanians can't win. Do you think the US and UN will come and intervene on your behalf if you are the aggressor? Do you think the US will stand by you when Arab fighters arrive to help this time. Not after 9/11 my friend. The US media machine has spent the last 6 years making us fear "Muslim Terrorists". If the Kosovo albanians start a war that's exactly how you'll be seen here (in the US) and then all that help you expect will be gone. Instead you'll have 75,000 marines there looking for terrorist cells and WMD.

The KLA couldn't stop the Serbian army how can it hope to stop the combined forces of the Serbs, the US, and the EU. Open conflict is the worst idea for you and one sure way to garuntee that your side loses in the political arena.

For the sake of National Law you choosing this route would force the UN to do the right thing and scrap the Atisarrhi plan in favor of maintaining Serbia's recognized and lawful borders.

I say the only lose/lose here is for the Kosovo albanians given the statemaents you made Nick.

Georgia and Ukraine WILL BE in NATO and that is NOT even a chip which can be bargained away by the USA. NATO membership for them is set in concrete.

No, looks to me as if the Russians WANT to win this Kosovo thing just for the heck of it.

I mean, who in the world really cares about a small place like Kosovo except ALL the players in Serbia??

The Russians see Kosovo as a PLACE where they CAN assert their "wants and desires" and get RESULTS!!

Small potatoes is good way to descibe Kosovo in the world's scheme of things.

The West can give up on Kosovo and Russia can get what it wants... to stick a fork in the USA's backside!! LOL.
