Did anyone actually read this article?

Its only Nikolic and Vucic who have parliamentary immunity and that law is there for a valid reason. The people who actually put up the signs can and will be charged.

In fact the people who did it last week all got 20 to 30 day jail sentences and are currently in jail. That was fairly prompt and swift.

As distasteful as I find the situation, I personally am not sure if criminal proceedings for these types of actions are healthy for freedom of speech in Serbia.

Its sorta like the KKK or the Nazi's holding marches here in the US, I really hate their message, but in a way, I think everyone has the right to speak their mind, even Victor. I actually struggle with whether censoring these types of people is correct or not. I know they ban Nazi ideology in many places in Europe. I suppose its very dangerous to have that level of freedom of speech in Europe, but in the US we don't have the same history? I don't honestly know what's best.

I suppose in this case it should be handled in the same fashion as a teenager spray painting graffiti.

Well said Mike, I fully agree.

Victor as well as the Albanians here know nothing of Serbia so they "thoughts" really don't matter.

I don't support the Radicals either, I think they are just taking up seats in the parliament and their supporters will go down.

This will tell us about Serbia's democratic maturity. In democracy, people can speak their mind without fear of persecussion. Judging from this case, Serbia stil didn't get there. Funny enough, it's the self called democratic forces that are now blocking free speech.

Mike, I do not remember a comment you've made that is constructive. You always try to diminish what I say to its most insignificant form, and at the same time you do not come with a positive comment.

Viva, I have never mentionned that the Serbs were the only vilains during the war; I've simply asserted that they have committed atrocities and crimes on a more major level, and all international observers say the same. Their actions have brought a very strong reaction worldwide for what a vast majority of Serbs have done.

Can you pretend the contrary?

Viva

This is getting ridiculous. All Serbs are war criminals, but no one else killed in the war. No Serbs got killed right? So what about Jasenovac, Kraljevo and etc. Comments like the ones Victor makes just prove how narrow minded people are.

Guys, you're making this event a bigger issue than what Victor already is making it. Just ignore him like you ignore the Radicals, and their feelings of self-importance will go away. Seriously, Victor's comments and beliefs, like the Radicals, are clearly not what the vast majority of people think about a stupid issue like this, and both are getting inordinate amounts of airtime.

Get a life Victor. In Croatia they are building statues, renaming streets and public parks in honor of the vilest war criminals. Even the German SS was disgusted by their barbaric acts. Even Mesic in a recent speech and on a trip to Australia praised the work of the Ustase. So Victor get off your Holier than Thou crusade your closet is full of skeletons.

Tadic and Kostunica were elected to serve the people, and the first thing they should have done was to listen to the people and not the 'radicals' promoting Milosevic and Seselj's policies. They did not act as leaders, as Mr Djinjic did, but as cowards who trembled in their pants for years... looking at Serbia's condition deteriorating in the world!

Our prime minister is not a war criminal until it is proved from justice, but whatever our prime Ramush Haradinaj when he received indictment he like a strong man resigned and went in Hague to prove that he is not implicated in the contrary of your Ratko which hides itself behind gown.

Oh please. I am no supporter of the radicals, but these two men (as far as is known) are not war criminals- although there have been allegations against Nikolic.

What about albanians. Your sheltering war criminals like Thaci, and your PM was a war criminal?

Richard Z

Can albanians handle Kosovo?
And why am I not surprised Victor again is the first to comment.

I do not suport the radicals either, but yes the curent leaders are no war criminals and have a right to say what they want. Even tho they haven't done anything good for the country.

Remember that this party won most of the votes in last elections, so I have a question: How much blind world have to be to pressure Kosova to stay within Serbia?

Victor

pre 16 godina

When a nation protects its war criminals from prosecution, I am not surprised to read that the same nation also protects its radical parliamentary leaders!

It shows the nations 'abroad' that Serbia still has its hands handcuffed by people who don't care about ordinary citizens' future
