lowe, THE IRONY IS ACTUALLY HERE : these 10,000 displaced serbs that are protesting are alive and welcomed to go back to Kosova, but how about the 12000 albanians that were killed and vanished? how about that some of their bodies are still buried around Serbia just to hide the Serb crimes? The serbs do not even want to return our dead bodies and they accuse us of not letting the serbs come back, and in fact we even built houses for the serbs to return and they complain that the houses are not the way they want.
Dont you think that the irony is here?
Lowe, Just because you have been in the side of serbs in arguments here does not mean that you always have to protect that side, please look more into problems with a realistic eye not just with closed eyes.
Thanks

Everybody knows that over the years and especially since NATO has been in charge of affairs inKosovo that hundreds of thousands of illegal Albanian immigrants from Albania proper have entered the country and falsely claimed to be residents so as to boost the Albanian population numbers.

lowe

pre 17 godina

nikshala,

the point is that the 1 million Albanians who left in 1999 have all but gone back to Kosovo within months of Nato's entry. But most of those Serbs who left have not returned even after 8 long years. These Serbs are so much fewer in numbers, yet they could return after 8 years. That is precisely where the irony is!

Konstantin

If I had legally bought his house and gave him money for it, than I would claim it as mine.

He sold it to someone else.

Jovan

I can assure you that the story is true. Since 1 million albanians did not leave for no reasons.

This is not about who is the victim. Albanians are simply saying we DO NOT want to live under Serbia;'s regime for these reasons.

Whethear you want to belive the truth, or deny it, its up to you.

I hope that the serbs enjoyed the picnic that was orchestrated by the dirty propaganda of leaders like Kostunica and his alikes.
About 1 million albanians were forced to go into tents all around the border with Macedonia and Albania, 10 thousand serbs went to picnic yesterday, therefore, based in these two facts, who is right and who deserves to be listened to? the 10 thousands that went into the picnic without anyone harrasing or the 1 million that went there after horror crimes were done to them by the paramilitary criminals?
I really feel sorry that Kostunica is still being able to play with these poor people, even sending them to picnics like the one yesterday.

Ahmet Isufi

Half of the idsplayced persons that gathered yesterday came from within Kosova. they were bused to the border. The reality is that most of them are allready living in Kosova. UNSC delegation was told about this ploy and that is why they decided not to even bother with this crowd. If anybody cares to rebbuf me don't even try, because I was an eye witness when they were getting into the buses and heading towrds the border.

Look this whole we are the victims STILL and Serbs did this and Beograd is evil becuase of this and that and the general evil Serbs vs poor innocent albanians is tired and weak. When you continue to persecute and kill Serbs under the eyes of your nato/un partners do not speak about your victimhood. You are really making forgiveness difficult. It is evident that Serbs want to come home and live a normal life. What is interesting is that if about 40% of the albanian population in Kosovo were asked to show proof of legal status those 40% would be deported becuase they came across the open Kosovo border illegaly but compared with the high crimes in Kosovo illegal immigration is nothig. If these people left the Serbs whose land they took would be able to come back.

strange, how many Albanians suddenly have a story about a "bad neighbour" who fears to come back because he was a albanians-molester...

I would love to know how much of these stories are really true.

it´s great that those UNSC-folks are coming to see reality.
Albanians can´t do anything about it, only belittle it, or deny own guilt.
pretty sad.

It is my serb neighbour that chuckem me and my family from our own house in 1999. After the war he sold his house.

So he doesn't return to Kosovo because, firstly, he will face jail for what he did, since I am more than happy to testify, and secondly, he sold his house, so it is true, he probably has no house to come back to.

He is probably one of those 12 000 gathering today.

Even in their comments, the Albanian posters on this site deny any wrongdoing, exaggerate about crimes against them, revise figures on the actual amount of Serbs displaced, and threaten Serbs about ever returning to Metohija...if independence is unjustly imposed on the proud and brave Serbian nation, I see future conflicts and more misery.

WHY THESE PEOPLE CAN'T RETURN TO THEIR HOMES??? 1) LACK OF SECURITY 2) NO FREEDOM OF MOVEMENT 3) FEAR FOR REPRISALS 4) POORLY CONSTRUCTED HOUSES WITH LOW QUALITY MATERIALS AND INADEQUATE BASIC UTILITIES 5) NO JOBS DUE TO MONOPOLY OF ALBANIAN BUSINESESS AND GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES ARE 99% ALBANIANS.

The one interesting thing about this article is that it shows an overwhelming willingness of K-Serbs to return to Kosovo, despite stories from multiple media sources saying that all Serbs will leave Kosovo or want to leave Kosovo. I can't say whether given the free chance these Serbs would live side by side with Albanians, but it's at least a start to get them back to their homes, resart their lives, and hopefully allow them to live in dignity and contribute to the overall productivity of Kosovo.

Philip Davies

There are at least 200,000 IDPs from Kosovo in Central Serbia & Vojvodina.

http://www.unhcr.org/home/RSDLEGAL/42120e554.pdf see page 16

Therefore Ahmet Isufi's underestimates the total by over 1500%.

"Now Kosova has about 1 million of people which for one or another reason are not living in Kosova."

I would guess they haven't returned because of the state of the economy in Kosovo. The high birth rate and population growth means there are a lot more people than employment. Not a situation that will get better quickly.

M.Miller

70 Serbs gather and demanded to meet with PM Kostunica, President Tadic and any member of UNSC delegation. Its ironik and this shows how much an ordinary Serb cares about Kosovo/a. It is only politicians that are playing agmes for their own personal gains, such as: govermant positions, heading political parties, staying in power at all coast vene if it means to use citizesn as pawns. It is a shame how politicians playu with peoples lives.

Ahmet Isufi

pre 17 godina

No one is stoping them to return to Kosova, ops I made a mistake because there is someone who is stopping them and that is; Sanda Rashkoviq-Iviq along with Belgrade govermant. By the way of 12000 IDP will gather , that shows just about the right number of IDP.

Shukri Gashi

pre 17 godina

I feel really sorry for these people and I think they must return at their home and to continue their live in Kosova. Another issue is using of them from Belgrade to make it's populist policy (using of people to make policy). Now Kosova has about 1 million of people which for one or another reason are not living in Kosova. Most of them are oust from Milosheviq, and they live now in west europian countries approximately 300 000 of them live in Swissland and 200 000 in Germany. After that we had about 1 million expel during 1999, but thanks to God and USA most of them are returned, then revanche from some albanians occured thousands of serbs to leave their home and property. Fortunately for serbs they had chance to sell their property with a price higher then in Belgrade and now they are established in Serbia (Of course I feel sorry if they did it against their will).
So, this is why international community thinks that now is time to clarify things. To give Kosovo independence, to make Belgrad to understand that is their policy who makes all suffering, and to work with people in the ground (EU will supervise Kosovo) to rebuild their live (albanians and others) and to start to convince them to believe each other because this is a cause for a better life.

If albanians were to organise a protest of all the albanians that suffered in the hands of serbs in 1999 (dead family members, expelled from their homes), it will be over a million at least gathered.
