How can you possibly expect me or any kosovar albanian not to be emotional about this? I guess speaking from thousands of miles away its pretty easy to label someone who has been through hell as "emotional", and we all know what you actualy mean when you refer to that term.

We can go on arguing about technicalities and legal details all day long, and i am pretty sure me and most of my fellow countrymen here can counter your arguements more than suitably.

But what are we really acomplishing by talking about pieces of paper? Do you seriously think that you can rule and pacify the kosovar albanians with legal documents and UN resolutions?

Freedom knows no legal document or resolution.

Victor,
Yes, church leaders are too political. Even Muslims.
In Bali, the Muslims Church Leaders gave their blessings to bomb 2 nightclubs there.
They killed 88 of my fellow Australians. Yet they still pretend to be good Muslims.
They are still free to spread their evil.
Tell me where in the Koran does it avdicate bombing innocent people. Where in the Koran does it support suicide. I'll tell you where.
NO WHERE.

"NATO urged the UN Wednesday to endorse Ahtisaari's Kosovo plan despite opposition by Russia and other UN SC members."

Maybe NATO should bomb the UN Headquarters in New York until it agrees to support the plan!

Philip,

I am refering to the Holy Trinity Cathedral. Before the cathedral was built in 1994, there was a great concrete statue of Bratstvo - jedinstvo (Brotherhood and Unity) at that location and before that the whole area was a park (a part of it still is). The Serbian authorities razed the communist statue and built the cathedral on top of it, and what i described above followed.

Why wouldnt he give communion to them...they are Serbs. If they are bad like everyone thinks that they are then God will make them pay, its not Patriarch job to do so. Anyways the problem is not with the Church, at least our Priest are not molesting little boys

Philip,

The statue of "Zef Lush Marku" at the center of Gjakova (Djakovica). Its right next to the fountain if you want me to be more specific.

The problem qith the Orthodox Church is simple: the leaders are too much politic. When I saw Pavle, the Patriarch, distributing the Holy Communion to people like Karadzic, Mladic, and the Scorpions,
(Victor, 25 April 2007, 18:27)

First of all, Patriachiate Pavle never administered Communion to Karadzic, Mladic or the Scorpions.

This again is a perfect example of hate speech where in democratic countries you can be charged for spreading hatred against a specified race.

I was and am against the Illegal invasion & occupation of Iraq just as much as the ILLEGAL bombing of Serbia in 1999. As far as the 600 year old mosque, that dates to around the time of the Ottoman invasion & occupation of Serbia and the Balkans. Many Serbian churches predate that by 100's of years. I don't have to visit Kosovo to know and understand the history of my ancestral homeland. If you would read my statement without emotion, I said MOST MOSQUES were built during that time, not every mosque. Relax dude, and the let the truth prevail!

Here we go again with the stupid "the Serbian Patriarch was distributing Holy Communion to yadda yadda" again, which somehow implicates the entire SPC. I have a good feeling that wasn't the Patriarch as he was no fan of Milosevic or his cronies. Show me a picture of what you claim Victor, and if it indeed was the patriarch, I will use this forum to apologize to you.

Funny how no one commented on the actual article. It's not the West against Russia, the mission is about seeing the actual conditions in Kosovo. It's about Standards before Status. PLEASE stop the constant tug-of-war between Serbians and Albanians. You should all be happy that the Ambassabors will see first-hand what is going on with the citizens that live there. It's about them.

When I saw Pavle, the Patriarch, distributing the Holy Communion to people like Karadzic, Mladic, and the Scorpions, I understood that even the crimes committed by the army against innocent civilians were perpetrated with the blessings of the Church and its Patriarch.

Religions are all the same: they have all distorted the true image of God.

Nick, out of interest what is the name of the Kosovar Albanian WWII Hero honoured with a statue?

Is this church that was destroyed in 1999 the same as one that was built on the site of a church that was destroyed in 1949?

I felt very sorry for yours and the other families after reading your story. You have all my sympathy. After those facts nobody s/b surprised to learn what happened to the church.

Zoran,
I greatly disagree with you about the NATO. It is very much needed for 2 reasons:
- Intervention in places like Afghanistan.
- Providing security for central and eastern-europeen countries who used to be soviet or satellite states of Russia. With oil revenues flowing in abundance Russia of Putin shows more and more her old imperialistic reflexes. A lot of small countries suffered of Russia in the last 100 - 200 years. Maybe it is a surprise to you but they don't view Russia as fondly as you Serbs. I hope that by the next NATO expension Gorgia will also become a member and will feel more secure.

NATO'S reason to exist ended with the COLD WAR. It no longer has any relevance, even most Americans believe this. Yes there are many mosques in Kosovo, most built since 1999 with money from Muslim countries, while Serbian churches that have been there for centuries were destroyed during the same time period. Great job of religious cleansing by the Albanians. Thanks NATO, you have found a new reason for your existence!

Zoran,

The mosque in the center of Djakovica is 600 years old.

The Church on the center of Djakovica was built in 1994. The Serbian mayor of the municipality declared everything within 500 meters of the church "SERBIAN ORTHODOX CHURCH PROPERTY"

That meant that a small piece of land my family owned for hundreds of years suddenly became Church Property and we had to pay 200 Deutch Marks of rent per month to the monks.

After paying rent for 2 years they told us they dont want us to pay rent anymore but that we should destroy the shop and in exhange for the land they said we could destory a Kosovar Albanian WWII Hero Statue (feel the irony) which was outside of the 500 meter perimeter and build a new shop there.

My family, although left with no income whatsoever, decided they would rather starve than destroy a Hero's statue.

The Church did the same with 10 other shopowners.

After the war that Church was blast to pieces beeing only 5 years old. NO TEMPLE OF GOD SHOULD BE BUILT ON THE SUFFERING OF INNOCENT PEOPLE.

If interested i can scan the land deed and prove this to you.

You simply have no idea what you are talking about. And i suggest you visit Kosovo first before you make such ridiculous statements.

Indonesia will change its mind really soon, once they see the sheer number of mosques that we have in Kosovo, and realize that they are dealing with fellow Muslims (despite the fact that Kosovars are largely secular, unlike the view portrayed by the Serb propaganda machine). The same can be said of Qatar! Congo and Ghana will vote however the USA tells them too, otherwise they starve! And there is your majority, since Britain, France,USA and others are already on board.

Victor

This plan is the only peaceful way towards better days for all in Kosovo, both Serbs and Albanians. Otherwise, it would mean the pursuit of abuses and problems.
