Albanian PM criticizes Russia

Of all the powers in the world, Russia has been the only good one in the last 120 years. If we go back to the 1800s we can see that the other powers only aimed to colonize the region. Russia helped push for the independence of these countries.

Well,now that such a hyper power as Albania strongly criticized Russia and put it under pressure i am sure Putin & co. in the Kremlin are so scared so they will change their mind and support independent Kosovo...LOL.I think news like this B92 should put in special new section:"If you want to get heart attack from laughing-read this"

Russia was to far to colonize them, so the least it could do was to keep the others (Turkey, Italy and Austria out too).

Berisha did a great service to Serbia by attacking the Russian PM.

It is preferable to have the Russian support for an independent Kosova but IT IS NOT INDISPENSABLE. Albania has always taken a constructive and realistic approach regarding the Kosova issue. The issue is not scaring Russia but it is an sincere appeal to Russia to aiming achieving a lasting peace solution for the region. Kosova is in Europe and Europe and America have invested so much in the region that they could not afford to let Serbia and Russia to manipulate the situation for their aims.

120 years? That goes back to Ottoman times, when the Albanians had it good. Albanians were mostly Christians until they converted to Islam under the Turkish occupation, and why did they? Because it gave them preferred status in the Empire over the people who refused to bow to Allah! When the Ottoman Empire was collapsing about 120 years ago, Russia aided Serbia & others to obtain independence from Turkey. The Albanians didnt like that much, their gravy train was derailing and to this day they remain salty! THANK YOU RUSSIA!

Mr.Berisha should not give statements of that very low level...seems like he got no advisors who deserve to be called that way...

Who cares what he thinks he is a nobody with no influence.

Berisha don't get it at all. So that the whole region will turn to EU and Nato??? That's the last thing Russia wants!

That should been expected for the albanian PM to protest. why not because they don't want a million albaninas running there when they don't recieve independence and NATO invade to preserve the peace. Like i said before Independence is not all it is cut out to be. Just remember what i said.

I agree with Ruben, Berisha did do a great service to Serbia by attacking Russia the way he did. Not a very smart move on his part. Now Russia is further from Albanian demands then ever.

Don't underestimate the power of Albania, because Alb. can engulf the entire region into flames. Did you forget that KLA was using Alb. teritory for training and arming KLA + attacking serbina army and actually did you forget when the biggest base along the border (Kosare barracs)was taken over by KLA and from that moment on there was no border between Alb. and Kosova.

WOW!!!! I have absolutely HATED Sali Berisha for the longest time because first he was a communist under Hoxha, then he become Albania's first "democratic" president *rolls eyes*, and then in '97 him and those forsaken pyramid schemes literally sent the whole country into flames. Seriously I have always hated this guy, but this is the first smart thing that he has EVER said. So yea, Go BERISHA!!! lol. I hope he becomes Albania's next president, instead of Fatos Nano.

oh and Albania doesnt have much influence you guys but......America, Germany, Turkey, and Italy do!!!!!

You are threatening violence if independence is not granted. That would be most unwise. The civilized world will not reward violence. And Albanian violence may well cause the West to turn against you, just like they turned against Milosevic in the 1990s. Do think about this.

Remember 1967 when Russia occupied eastern Europe Albania kept 3 submarines from Russia.

I think kosovo needs more support as people are still living in poverty i think its a disgrace the standard the country in i would love to see an improvement in kosovo Albiana times have to change it wasn't so long ago when people had to leave their home country for a better life nothing has reaaly change i would love to see Albiania Invested in Tourism etc... the people are so honet and friendly it sad to see how this beautiful country and people are treated and i am peaking as a tourist visiting this country i would live their if corruptiopn was reduce and better pay for people roads are fixed etc....
