Russia is not sure itself what it intends to achieve. They know that they can not make changes to Ahtiasari's proposal, becasue Ahtisari was tasked by Contact group and Secretary General of UN. The only think i could think of is because Russia wants something from G8 Meeting and is playing hard ball by using Kosova as a leverage. Russia does not care about Kosova and serbia.

Story about standards is mainly used by Serbian government to manipulate internal audience and therefore in reality has no significant relevance. General crime is a world wide problem and that is all what, what UNSC mission may learn in Kosovo.
Here is the case that The State if Russia just got caught in the story of Belgrade about standards and played in a wrong direction.

What I can never understand is that Serbia, having so many clever people, is run by idiots who just keep thinking that RTS is CNN and diplomacy is all about “Karlovac- Karlobag- Ogulin-Virovitica”!!!!!

So we could have a ahtisaarii plan that talks about independence but in reality is internal to Serbia as reconfirmed by 1244 - looks like an excellent UN resolution could be possible!!!

Do you really think we will accept anything short of full independence?

It is quite clear that Russia is trying to exhaust its dipolomatic options and make it look as if they did all they possibly could to protect Serbia.

You just dont seem to get it. We do not want to live under Serbia. Neither your dirty politics, nor the US, Russia or the whole of UN can make us do something which we do not want.

If we have to fight for our freedom our entire lives then so be it. But i know one thing, me and all of the people of Kosovo will not rest until we obtain our freedom, no matter how long it takes.

We will undermine you in every aspect and make your life a living hell if we have to.

And the more your opress us the more you will distance yourselves from the west and the world.

This is not a threat, i am simply telling you what will happen if you do not understand the seriousness of the situation and the determination of the kosovo albanians.

Very interesting to know, but does Princip, JOVAN zORAN, kATE and others amongst the general serbian population know about this.

Nick - I am sure that there are plenty of people in Kosovo who just want to live peacefully with their families and get on with their lives.
If Kosovo does not become fully independent, then it will have full autonomy and it would be monitored on every level. I am sure that there are plently of people who would be happy with this.

Do not mistake me for a war mongerer, we all want to live in peace. For those that have not seen war, such as most of you here, you have no idea what peace means to someone who has been through war. You can not possibly grasp the concept unless your peace has been disturbed in the past.

However, rest assured that no kosovo albanian will accept peace at the cost of remaining under Serbia.
