About Vojvodina; Joe wrote that in 1944 Serbs committed genocide against Hungarian peasants. Let's take a closer look at that event. The Hungarians were allied with Germany & the other Axis powers. Hungary was given Vojvodina as a gift for their alliance with Germany. In 1941 Germany & Hungary invaded Vojvodina & along with the local Hungarians set up a puppet state & occupied it. Shortly after, Hungarian & German fascists systematically engaged in a genocide against Serbs in Vojvodina to pave the way for the Hungarian take-over. In 1944 when partisan & Soviet troops liberated Vojvodina they went after the fascists who perpetrated or supported the genocide against Serbs and executed them. Hungarians who engaged or supported the genocide were punished as were Germans. This was not a genocide against innocent Hungarians. The fascists had to be stopped so that the Serbs would be able to live in peace in their own country. Historical records indicate that several thousand Hungarians & Germans were killed, some say that maybe more than 10,000. To this day 300,000 Hungarians live in peace in Vojvodina with the Serbs whom they tried to eliminate.

Those were simple peasants not involved in politics at all but out of vengence they were machine-gunned at the river Tisza. It was a systematic slaughter of man from 16 to 60 of several villages. About the Germans: you are also terribly wrong. You still think in term of territorial occupation. Today what count is the economic power, the technical know-how, where the Germains excel. After WWII Germany was a ruined country with 12-14 million refugees. With hard work and know-how in record time they re-built their country at the surprise and admiration of the whole world. They are the 3rd economic power in the world and the "locomotive" of the EU. If you ever want to enter the EU you better be used to their status. Otherwise - contrary what you try to spread as old propoganda - they are true democrates for decades. They are people who can recognize old crimes, there are others, who are incapable to do so.
