Thank God the chiefs of Zastava are not like Kate and Simon. They would be ready to sacrifice a better life (for other people) because of some supposed sentiment. I bet they have work and they are well off.
As sad as i am to see the Yugo go, and as one of the last symbols of my beloved SFRY, that car was an embarassment.
After the Lada, that was considered one of the worst cars ever built. And rightfully so. It made us look like an eastern european country, when we werent.
Either way, im sad to see the Yugo go, but i hope newer models will bring some dignity to Zastava.
Americans are slowly taking over the economy of Serbia. They now own the steel maker in Smederevo, most of the tobacco indstry and other industries. Soon they will also own the car industry. Serbia was defeated militarily by the USA and slowly it is being taken over economically. I am very disappointed to see this happening in spite of the fact that it will bring a better standard of living to Serbs.
