Tatjana, take it easy please... Even if it is like you say, have you ever asked WHY? It is because KSerbs choosed isolation to tell to the rest of the world they can not be integrated because of this historical moment for Kosovo... Otherwise, the best example is situation of Serbian returnees and Albanian returnees. Serbs are asking for entertainment places while Albanians are suffering for drinking water... Serbian houses are empty, while Albanians are still living in tends... Albanians are investing in Kosova, while Serbs are investing in Serbia... So, ...

Good luck Kosovo on your own way...

Ahmet, it was not hoax attack on Decane Monastery. KFOR spokesperson has confirmed the attack. The only one who are blind despite having eyes were KPS (Kosovo Police Service) whose spokesperson has denied the attack. Soon they were convinced that the terrorist attack happened indeed. UNESCO Secretary General has condemed it as well as many high international community representatives. Also remains of mortar grenade were found. Get the facts streight, it did happened. And it is not the first one. There were two more terrorist attacks on Decane Monastery, one in 2000 and the other on 2004 March. In both attacks the prepetrators were not found. Why I have the feeling it will be the same this time as well.

PRES. TADIC AND PM KOSTUNICA>>> now is the time for the serbian people to tell the UN mission fact finding team that: 1) serbian areas are neglected in infrastructres 2) public buildings are worst in serbian areas 3) budget from KCB is more in albanian areas than serbian areas 4) goernment tenders are advertised "ONLY IN ALBANIAN NEWSPAPERS" hence "ONLY ALBANIAN CONTRACTORS WIN PROJECTS" even in SERBIAN AREAS. 5) serbians are afraid to go to albanian areas due to threats of security 6) albanians boycott serbian products hence economy is affected 7) serbian staff in government offices are less than 1% and 8) key government posts are held by albanians hence inequality of oppurtunities exist 9) serbian returnees are less than 10% due to poor living conditions in serbian areas 10) serbian owners of houses burned in march 04 riots are less than 10% due to improper construction of the houses and lack of secure environment

There is nothing to hide or distort, even more Kosovars can be proud with the current situation in general. Everybody must be aware that it is post war country and country in transition. Only one situation would be enough difficult to overcome.
Kosovo can be multhiethnic as much it can be with 5% of its minority population. The others (Serbs) has left Kosovo in 1999 not because of the threatenings of the Albanians, but because Milosevic was enough smart to find the way to withdraw war criminals brought from Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia, Rusia, Ukraine etc. Some the others were enough smart to buy properties in Serbia and elsewhere and start businesses with the money despoliated in Kosovo during 80 and 90. All these because they didn't feel part of Kosovo and Kosovo part of themselves... Simply...
The only shyness is that Serbs are very well known as people who can built very good scenarios of victims like in 80, but this time it will not be convincing because all those scenarios are seen before... The other facts of positive opportunities are much more convincing. It is another issue if they want to use those opportunities or not! Some people can be very repulsive even to a nice opportunities in a moments when it fits and/or doesn't fit to their scenarios...
UN fact finding mission can not be fearful for Kosovars, because they already have such missions for 8-9 years. This is only a apologetic mission for Rusia for their decision and vote in next weeks.
Good luck Kosovo on your own way...

Yes, there is a reality gap when the West talks of the achievements of minority rights in Kosovo. On paper, they are actually pretty, although, even on paper, they could be better. For example, there are no set places for Serbs and other minorities in important administrative positions such as in judicial courts of different levels that determine property rights. I am also not sure whether Kosovo would allow Kosovo Serbs living outside of Kosovo to have dual nationality--encouraging return.

Changes like these would make the advances in paper even more robust. Nevertheless, paper is not enough. Serbs do not feel secure. I can tell you this because I have been in the ghettos and talked to them. Some institutions like the KPS are good role models in terms of training and professionalism. Yet, in their willingness to be neutral and color blind, it is unfortunate that they do not see the necessity to provide special security arrangements for minority populations under constant threat or risk as part of a wider security strategy.

Definitely, more needs to be done to improve security and well being for Serbs. Surely, the poor economic situation in Kosovo does not help to improve return of refugees. Most Kosovo Albanians would have no trouble accepting Serbs as neighbors, but not enought of these seem willing to take a stand against the bad apples that put the lives of minorities at risk.

To Zoran:
How many mosques have been destroyed? How many Albanians have fled Kosovo during 1999?
How many Albanians were killed by Serbia?
How many Albanian houses were burned? Property stolen?
Answer. Do you think that we are not human beings and that we will allow again Serbia to repeate the same routine: first take of autonomy, than kick us from working place, close the Albanian schools, make people to fight for their rights and that's it:start the to kill Albanian civilians, ethnic cleansing...
We had aytonomy and Serbia tooked it from us, and majority of Serbs in Kosovo and Serbia had said: yes. Serbs of Kosovo are still dreaming-they are sleeping. They are not isolated.

It is very funny, as per Russian request the UN is sending a fact finding delegation. How naive, the UN has been in Kosova since 1999 and actually administring Kosova. Mr. Sejdiu is right, there is no need since UN was and still is the sole authority in Kosova.
Princip, still waiting for your response regarding hoax attack on Deqani Monastery.

It might be that the ethnic-Albanian leadership have truly utilised all of their negotiating skills and realise that any Un fact finding mission will show this up. The more that this folly is looked into the more obvious it becomes that other frozen conflicts have have all the more credibile rationale for independence. See the following article "Only 4 countries vote for Kosovo Indepedence at the UN"

http://www.tiraspoltimes.com/node/724

- Others are already reacting and realising that such folly illuminates thier cause all the more.

Sediju's attempt to block the UN team will only highlight the folly by the US & Uk all the more.

How many churches have been destroyed? How many tens of thousands of Serbs have fled for there lives? This has happened in their own country, but yet the situation is stable? In 2004 two Albanian boys drowned and it was blamed on the Serbs with mass attacks on their person & property. I ask again; is Kosovo a stable multiethnic multi religous UN run province? Not by a long shot!!! It was more so when the Serbs controlled it.

Reality:
Kosovo’s government has deemed a UN fact-finding mission to the province “alarming in that it might expose the true situation”.

I suggest it would be much more enlightening if the Minority communities prepared a progress report to be distributed to the UN mission.

What have they to hide?

Are they afraid that the actual picture of what daily life for non-Albaninas will be discovered and finish off this folly of Independence?

If security is as Sediju belives then what does he fear from a UN Team - unless of course he knows the reality is far from secure?

I think any sane person is only too aware of the reality of life for non-Albanians who live in ghettoised 21st century pogroms and need to be escorted by NATO 24/7 - where even UNESCO have to place Serbian monesteries on danger lists because of potential and real attacks and what of the epople who want to live in their state wher they were born - Serbia, what will be their story to tell the UN team?

John Smith

Yes, let the fact-finders go to the enclaves where the Serbs huddle in fear. Then the UN team will really see what the Albanians mean by "achievement". What a joke!!!
