read this:

"A small group of EU states has splintered from the EU and US position that the UN should swiftly give "supervised independence" to Kosovo.

Slovakia, Romania and Greece raised objections to the so-called Ahtisaari plan for Kosovo independence at an informal meeting of EU foreign ministers in Bremen, Germany at the weekend, with diplomatic sources also saying that Spain and Italy harbour reservations about the Kosovo blueprint.

"I have underlined - as has been already expressed by the Slovak parliament - that in further negotiations we have to take into consideration the legitimate interests of both parties, Belgrade and Pristina," Slovak foreign minister Jan Kubis told EUobserver on Saturday (31 March).

"When we talk about splitting countries up, the map of Europe could change every year," Spanish foreign minister Alberto Navarro said, AFP reports. Slovakia and Italy are members of the UN's 15-strong security council group that will decide Kosovo's fate."

Timothy! The ottoman empire occupied Kosovo/Serbia for over 500 years and still Serbia once more got back what was theirs so what is 8 years in that perpective?! Nothing. These forces occupying Kosovo today will also see their end coming.

The truth is international law must be respected and the territorial integrety of a soverign state. Remember that before you open your mouth and start preeching about dividing and cutting up a country in the middle of Europe. Last time someone tried (Hitler), we got war on our hands and 50 million people in Europe alone died.

Jack,
you know what will happen IF Ahtisari's plan doesn't pass

Independence.

wake up my man, Serbia cannot control Kosovo ever again. It hasn't been doing for the last 8 years, and will never be.

Indepence. Sooner or later.

And so the watering down of Athisaari's proposal begins.

"further negotiations...legitimate interests of Belgrade and Pristina." Doesn't this sound exactly like what the Russians have been saying?

"EU ministers agreed to press for the rapid adoption of a UN Security Council resolution on the future status of the Serb province."

Let's break this sentence down. "adoption of a UN Security Council resolution", notice it says A resolution not the Athisaari plan; "future status of the Serb province." Notice the language usage, they no longer call it the 'break away province' or 'the majority Albanian province'.

Athisaari's plan is going to get watered down so much that it will probably do little more than maintain the status quo. Probably further negotiations, a bit more power to interim institutions, some development funding and further protection of minorities and cultural sites.
